This business was referred to me by a family member in the Cortland area. I was told it was the best around and she was correct! I didn't realize they were still open and it was a nice surprise! However, it had more of an impact for me, it was taking a step back in time. You see, this was the cleaners my parents used over 40 years ago! Being there made my heart swell and my mind flooded with beautiful memories of my parents who both have now passed. Who thought a business could have that type of impact!!When I went there I asked if it was the original family owners, and which was confirmed, they have been in business for about 70 years! Everything was exactly as I remembered it, with the exception of their computer system. Once I dropped off my coats, a text was prompted, thanking me for my service and telling me they would let me know when my items would be ready. When I did pick up my items, they were beautiful! They looked like brand new coats! It has been years since I went to someone who did such a great job and I definitely will be back! The only downside, they only take cash or check. I'm a card kinda gal, and was lucky that I happened to have cash that day, but it will not prevent me from patronizing this gem! read more

Do NOT use this dry cleaners. They gave my 2 items to another customer and are not making an effort to get my items back. These were Christmas presents from my Daughter. I mainly go here for alterations, which I think are pricey. However, the work is done well and they are dependable. The ladies that do the alterations are incredibly talented and are pleasant. The store does not take credit card (only cash or checks) and I find that inconvenient at times. read more

I have seen many different dry cleaners, but this one is definitely top notch. I brought in about 4 jackets and it only cost me $7.50 a pop. The cost is pretty similar to other ones that I have used in the past. They clearly get a ton of business here. When you walk in there are tons of cloths in the back and in the pick up zone. The staff is really friendly and they do a great job! I am what some would call a slob when it comes to my clothes. It always seems that when I am chomping down on some food, it somehow jumps out of my hand and lands on my clothes. So the jackets I brought in to them...well lets just say they were quite stained. They had a wee bit of a scent as well. When I got all of them back they were spotless and fresh! I will be coming here from now on for any dry cleaning needs. On a side note. I really think its awesome that they hire so many young employees. A lot of them seem to be students. They pretty much seem to be running the front line and filling orders. There are so few jobs out there for students, other than fast food. So its pretty awesome of the owner to be able to give them other job opportunities. read more

Very expensive for dry cleaning but they do a really great job! I haven't had anything I brought here shrink, have cleaning marks or damages so far. The only downside is that they allow people to bring dogs in which is annoying when you don't want dog slobber on your legs. read more

I have lived all over the world so prices do matter, however timing is more my thing. DeWitt Cleaners came through with flying colors. I brought in three shirts to get laundered w/med starch and that is exactly what I got. The only and I mean slight irk I got is, when I brought the shirts in I specifically inquired about french cuff shirts. I like my cuffs folded after being starched. Usually a plastic clothes pin is used to keep the sleeves in place. That is not how my french cuff shirt came out, then again it was early morning and maybe i goofed. Very strange location in the middle of a highway. They misplaced my clothes the first time I went there but eventually found it. They are also cash only, which is very inconvenient and odd for these sorts of businesses in this day and age. I didn't go back for at least a year, then went back again recently. I went to pick up my coat and two sweaters and completely forgot that they were a cash only establishment. I UGH'ed and shouted in my car and drove to the nearest ATM. Thankfully, it was only a few minutes away. My coat was hung but my sweaters were individually wrapped in plastic, which sounds fancy, but when I went to carry all of this back to my car, I dropped the sweaters, since the plastic made them slippery. When I bent down to pick up the sweaters, my coat started dragging because I am not tall and my coat is pretty long. Upon realizing I was dragging my coat, I raised my arm awkwardly to make sure it wasn't dragging anymore, which made one of the sweaters slip again. I ended up just balling everything together, including my coat and throwing them into the car. I got home huffing and puffing saying I'd never go back there again. I ripped the plastic off my coat to inspect and WOW was I amazed at the quality of cleaning. My sweaters were very nicely cleaned as well. I really wish they accepted credit cards and that they would hang my sweaters instead of wrapping them up individually...it becomes a schlepping session for me to make it to my car and out of the car into the house without dropping or wrinkling anything. Reluctantly, I will be back for the quality of cleaning...cash in hand. read more

I'm a poor graduate student who (unfortunately) has a lot of dry clean only clothes. I walked into Dewitt Cleaners based on location and was quite satisfied with the service and price. It was when I returned for pick up that I really fell in love: Upon arrival I waited as the owner took the time to help a woman with tips on combating moths. Pretty neat, I thought, you don't usually see that level of interaction at the dry cleaners. The young woman who was helping me came back with all but one of my garments saying that the owner needed to speak to me about a blouse. The owner quickly came over to explain about a cleaning error that has occurred which left a mark on my blouse. It was a pretty sizable mark but since I wear the blouse under a jacket I wasn't that concerned. However the owner was. She took to the time to explain that this was their mistake and then ask how much she owed me. I suggested the cost of the cleaning and she said that wasn't enough. She ended up comping my entire dry cleaning order! read more

Dewitt Cleaners has been around forever. While the quality of the cleaning is top notch and the people working there are friendly, my last experience was somewhat shocking. Not only are they VERY expensive ($18 for a man's two-piece suit) but they used wire hangers (with no cardboard in the shoulders) to hang the jacket. There was also no stuffing in the top of the jacket sleeves to help retain its shape. Four days after taking the suit out of Dewitt Cleaners (when I went to wear the suit) I had very noticeable wire hanger marks in the shoulder. I thought that maybe someone goofed on the suit. I then looked at my wife's sweaters which were requested to be hung up on hangers. Instead, the sweaters were folded over a wire hanger (albeit with a cardboard liner) and had noticeable creases in it. Great cleaning. Awful presentation. At these prices and lack of care for my clothing, I will be seeking a different dry cleaner. CASH OR CHECK ONLY!!! read more

After three years of using DeWitt Cleaners I suddenly had four shirts returned to me ripped in the same exact place. One of these shirts was brand new. The first time I sent the new shirt it was returned with the collar button ripped from the shirt. The second time this same shirt was returned with a rip on the sleeve. Four shirts ripped on the sleeve: one brand new, two less than one year old, and one that was a couple of years old. The first time they ripped a shirt I accepted the owners declaration that it was simply worn out. The second, third, and fourth time I did not accept the explanation given that one of the shirts had only been worn twice (and damaged before it had ever been worn). I suggested that something in the mechanic process was tearing the shirts. But the owner had a new theory: the blue dye in the shirts was "degrading the tensile strength of the fabric." The owner of DeWitt Cleaners blames the color blue? Needless to say I am no longer a client and if you take your dress shirts to DeWitt Cleaners you do so at your own risk because they will never accept responsibility for damaging your shirts. read more

I am new to the area and asked around for recommendations on a dry cleaner. When I dropped off my winter coat I was surprised by the cost ($25) to have it done and was even more surprised by the fact that it is cash or check only. To add insult to injury, when I got home, there were two dirty spots still on the coat and the clasp on the belt is broken. I have been trying to call them to give them a chance to rectify the issues but the phone just rings busy for hours. They are not exactly conveniently located for me to go back but I may have to.
