    1/2 Green Lantern, 1/2 Meatball
    Byron C.

Arguably Cincinnati's most beloved cultural export, Dewey's is up there with the likes of WKRP in Cincinnati. It's superior to their weird take on chili--which I actually don't mind. Dewey's doesn't carry a pizza with Skyline chili on it, but not because they're against that sort of thing. It's what they do. Much of their menu consists of specialty pizzas with goofy names and even goofier flavor combinations. Things you might come up with while high on marijuana and then not make, because you lack the ambition. I tend to be of the belief that a basic pepperoni pizza is the best thing you can order, even if money is no object and there's other interesting-looking things on the menu. It's the one essential ingredient. Anything else you can add wouldn't necessarily make it worse, but it wouldn't make it significantly better either. It occurred to me, as I was preparing to order, that if I ordered pepperoni, I'd be able to compare it to other pizza places, where I'll also order pepperoni. I might still do that, if I get pizza from anywhere else (I'm not made out of money), but I was willing to make an exception for Dewey's. Over the years, I've had most of their specialty pizzas and a few of their seasonal pizzas. I can recall especially liking the Porky Fig, the Edgar Allen Poe (or whatever it's called) and the Taco Pizza (one of the monthly specials; I'm sure that's not the actual name of it). The Bronx Bomber, as I recall, was good, but in a mundane, sausage-and-pepperoni sort of way. This time, I opted for a half-Green Lantern, half-Meatball. I think maybe I'd had the Meatball before, but that didn't occur to me until after I ordered. Both of them are apparently among the most popular specialty pizzas, if photos on the app are any indication. I got an 11", which is the smallest you can order online. I saw an 8" mentioned on a possibly outdated takeout menu, but that would be entirely too small. Am I right, ladies? One person could easily take out an 11" (ahem), as I did, in all of about five minutes, which is not to say that you should. This wasn't the healthiest decision I made this week. The Green Lantern is just weird. A child would hate it and might resent you for life for ordering it. The dominant flavor is artichoke, but there's also goat cheese and an abundance of garlic. I liked it, but I don't know if I'd order it again. Those just aren't appropriate toppings for a pizza. The meatball, meanwhile, could give pepperoni a run for its money. There's just something classic about it. It's like a plate of spaghetti made sweet, passionate love to a pizza. For a specialty pizza, which probably included a fee for going half-and-half, I paid $19. That almost seems like a deal, in this day and age. I'd suggest they could charge more, but I don't want to give them any ideas. Of course they pulled the BS where they try to get you to tip to pick up your own pizza. But then when you get there, they insist on bringing it out to you. If I'd known the guy was going to have to come outside, I would have given him a dollar. I'm generous like that.

Pineapple pizza and the fig pizza

We went on a Thursday night and were able to get seated right away. Our waitress was super great and took our order right away and filled up our waters super quickly. I love that they let you do two flavors on one pizza. We got Hawaiian and porky fig on a 13" and it was the perfect amount for two people. We both agreed that the porky fig was the best, it just has a nice sweetness to it which is balanced out by the pork and sauce. Dewey's has one of the best pizza doughs/crusts in my opinion. Will definitely be coming back! The U city location is in a nice spot with a parking lot. I had been to the kirkwood location before which is equally as nice but has street parking.

    CANDIED WALNUT & GRAPE

Ordered for take out. The Candied Walnut Grape salad with the creamy Basil Vinaigrette was a scrumptious blend of sweet and tangy. The walnuts gave it a nice texture along with the mixed greens. Great flavor-- it is usually difficult to convince my kids to have leafy vegetables, but they gladly gobbled it up! The pizza had fresh ingredients and excellent crust. The crust had a pleasant crunch on the outside but doughy and chewy on the inside. It was perfect thickness-- not overly bread-y. I liked the white sauce cheese pizza. It was simple but rich in flavor. It wasn't as popular among the kids because if the lack of res sauce, but I found it quite delightful.

We've loved Dewey's for years and this location is no exception! Great take out service (with extra ranch) and super friendly and helpful staff. Mel at the front was super nice!

Always a great experience whenever we go to Dewey's. The pizza is delicious. I love that you can do half and half. The Ryan's inferno is my favorite. Staff is all super nice and attentive. They were very busy as it was a Saturday night, but I felt like they were still very attentive. Lots of tables, but it doesn't feel like too many. Always recommend Dewey's!

Bronx bomber slice, smoked cheddar instead of olives
    Henry B.

Came in on a wed night for takeout. Food 4/5: we ordered a large Bronx bomber with olives replaced by smoked cheddar and a small pepperoni and goat cheese pizza. Pretty tasty pizza, would have preferred a crispier crust or some kind of flavoring on it but overall high quality ingredients Service 5/5: carryout so weighed less towards final score but everyone was very friendly and got our stuff quickly Ambiance 4/5: seemed like a very nice location to sit and eat, modern design, clean, good lighting, did seem to be very loud even without that many people there. Value 3.5/5: fair value for what they're providing, Overall 4/5: pretty good pizza overall with good ingredients at a fair price. Would come again. Parking: parking lot on the side

    Alabama Shaker
    Kaley B.

I was on a hunt for a pickle pizza.. was shocked that I couldn't find one near my house but what I did find is the Alabama Shaker from Dewey's, and let me tell ya, even though I wished it had more pickles on it, it was absolutely phenomenal. The pulled chicken and red onion complimented the pickles perfectly. The Alabama white sauce served with it was killer. 10/10 going to order again.

    This is the end result

I love Dewey's - their pizzas as well as their salads, but I wished they did a better job cutting the lettuce core. so many hard pieces. very disappointed with the lettuce!

Empty pizza box, because it was so delicious, we forgot to take an actual photo of the pizza in the box.

The food was amazing as always! The pizza I ordered was a dairy free cheese pizza and it was awesome! I cannot wait to go again with my children! Staff was amazing also.

    Tito Santana gluten free pizza
    Angela W.

Met a friend here for lunch. It was monsooning outside, so there weren't many patrons. I walked in completely drenched, and the server offered me numerous napkins to dry off. Staff was very friendly and attentive. My friend and I both had Caesar salads. Lettuce was fresh. Perfect basic Caesar. Our pizzas came out as we were finishing our salads. I got the gluten-free crust Tito Santana pizza. The flavor was wonderful but the crust was quite hard. When we were finished the server came by and packed up the rest of our pizzas, and wrote on them whose was who's so they didn't get mixed up. I have been to this location one time before and sat out on the patio. Enjoyed myself that time as well. Restaurant and bathrooms were very clean.

I love Dewey's! They are my go to pizza place and generally a spot I take friends when they come into town. They have a few locations but I decided to go to the U City one. Dewey's offers an assortment of special pizzas, salads, beer, and wine. They offer a build your own pizza option and their salad dressing is all house made. Today my party and I split a pizza. We got half the Van Damme which is a seasonal pizza that includes olive oil, Brussels sprouts, bacon, and red onions and half the Green Lantern which includes artichokes, goat cheese, and pesto. The pizza was awesome!!! Some other favorites of mine are the Edgar Allen Poe and the Don Corleone. They have also had a seasonal taco pizza that has come around from time to time. The service is pretty quick and the space is family friendly. They also have a small parking lot next to the restaurant. Overall I love this place! I love that they combine ingredients that you wouldn't typically put on a pizza and make it their own. I almost always order the biggest size of pizza too so I can have leftovers. :)

    Peppercorn Ranch salad
    Andy W.

Haven't been here since the pandemic started and I'm happy to report it is just as good as we remembered it being. It was storming outside with lots of rain, wind, and lightning, but the place was mostly full, which is a testamant to their product. We started off by shared a large Peppercorn Ranch salad which was delicious. It was loaded with bacon, tomatoes, shaved parmesan, red onions, and their signature Peppercorn Ranch Dressing. We could have filled up on just that. But... We came for pizza and decided on having a Bronx Bomber (yes, all their pies have unusual names). This had mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, and black olives. After the salad we didn't quite finish the whole pizza, but it was delicious for lunch the next day. All pies can be customized. Add a little of this, remove a little of that - it will be whatever you want it to be.

The Best Dining Experience We've Had in St. Louis - Hands Down…read moreMy husband and I wanted to give our dear friends who are leaving St. Louis one last unforgettable meal from their bucket list, so I immediately recommended Peno. I used to be a regular at Rosé with the same talented Chef Pepe, and his food is truly to die for. We walked in on a beautiful day and were lucky to snag a spot in their small parking lot (parking in the area isn't the easiest, but it's worth it). Our server, Harry, made the evening even better right from the start. He had such a warm, calm, professional presence--the kind that's rare these days. We instantly remembered his name thanks to a fun Harry Potter / Harry and the Hendersons reference, and he handled everything with effortless skill. When our friends had parking trouble, Harry quickly offered helpful suggestions. Then, when it was time to order, he elevated our meal in the best way possible. My husband and I got our longtime favorite--the Roberto pizza from Rosé days--and Harry suggested adding sausage and peppers. That small tweak took something we already loved and made it 1000% better. Absolute perfection. Our friend ordered the spaghetti (her all-time favorite comfort meal), and after taking Harry's thoughtful recommendation, she declared it the best spaghetti she's ever had in her life. We finished with the cheesecake. I'm extremely picky about cheesecake, but this one did not disappoint--it was creamy, rich, and flawless. This was one of those legendary meals you remember forever. The kind where you leave thinking you could die happy. Chef Pepe's food, paired with Harry's outstanding service, made it a perfect night. If you're in St. Louis, do yourself a favor and go to Peno. You won't regret it. Thank you, Harry and team--you helped create a truly special send-off for our friends!

A large amount of mozzarella-looked like Provel on top. I did call over the server to clarify if this was what this salad was supposed to be - mostly lettuce. She said yes then brought over a small plate with a few olives. Again, this salad was $15. It must have cost Peno a dollar to make because it was mostly lettuce. I live a few blocks from Peno and love the idea of a neighborhood restaurant we can all embrace. Sadly, I won't be back.
