    Raw uncooked chicken.

I was having a great night at a great event until me and the two people next to me got food poisoned. Raw chicken, I threw up 7 times at the event and spent my Sunday morning at the hospital.

This review is specifically about the West Michigan Vaccine Clinic that is currently housed at DeVos Place. I've been to numerous events here besides the clinic and have always had good experiences. However, this is the first time I've felt compelled to write a review because of how awesome the covid vaccine experience was. I signed up for my appointment and the communication was very clear on where to go and when. I texted the number when I arrived like they said and they told me to come in. Once you get inside, you're given a sticker that indicates which parking garage you parked in/which entrance you used. I sort of laughed but only because I was so surprised - what a great idea! Then I was shown where to go and got signed in. There were volunteers everywhere, and they were all super helpful and very friendly. I was blown away by them. Signing in was easy and only took a minute or two. I was not asked to provide any identification or insurance information but had both with me in case. I stood in a short line with another volunteer directing people into the vaccine administration area. There were indicators on the floor marking off spots six feet apart and everyone was adhering to them. There was hand sanitizer everywhere and helpful signage all over the place. I got into the booth with the nurse and she told me what the next steps were and what to do if I had any reactions after the waiting period. Then she gave me my vaccine! The whole process was over and done with in about 15 minutes total. After your shot, you go sit in the waiting area for 15-30 minutes depending on your circumstances. Again, all the chairs were perfectly spaced out and volunteers were wiping them down after each person. The amount of planning and thought that went into this venture really amazed me. It was such a smooth and easy process and I never felt confused or uncertain on where to go or what to do next. As you exit the waiting area, you get a ticket to validate your parking and there are symbols on the floor guiding you to the correct exit based on your parking sticker. Overall I couldn't have asked for a better experience for receiving my covid vaccine.

It looks nice, but there are some serious issues. For starters, most of the bathrooms are in disarray, and I don't mean dirty. They clean them regularly, but I was here recently and all 4 bathrooms in the convention hall I was in had some type of issue. One had a sink that didn't work, one had stalls that wouldn't stay locked, and one handicap stall had a seat that was broken in half and missing a chunk. Nothing was done to repair this over the 4 days I spent there. Allegedly they have security, which did slow lines down for people getting in most of the weekend, but people were able to easily sneak in Sunday night near the end of the event, one of those that snuck in stole from my booth, we didn't realize for a few minutes, but the booth was unattended as the show was over and we were all getting ready for tear down. Security failed there. For a venue that hosts such large events, there is not enough food sources, and unless you are in the side by the large windows, the lighting isn't great. I'll attend more shows in the area, but I've lowered my expectations of the event center.

Nice conference center. Only drawback is the layout can be a bit confusing.

The Valet Parking crew were also very quick polite and helpful. The wait staff all very very friendly and polite great bunch of people. The food is what made it a 2.5 -3 star for me. The beef was like shoe leather and beyond cutting with the knife they had on the table. The pasta had more vinegar than pasta and the potatoes were like glue. The bread dry enough to be used for stuffing but not eaten with meal. Certain with better preparation on the meal that would match the extra great service and personalities of the staff operating it most would have a 5 STAR experience.

She came in on a Sunday so my husband could see the venue after we booked. We walked into our rehearsal and Karri and her team were literally ON THE FLOOR attaching my welcome sign to a foam board so it looked better than what I had originally delivered to them. I had very specific requests for music and timing during our ceremony, they figured it out with ease and it was literally perfect. The staff was AWESOME. We had a medical emergency during our reception which they handled with ease and professionalism. They were so kind and accommodating to all of us. Finally, the space is to die for. We took pictures in the basement and they were the best pictures of all that my photographer got - gorgeous light in a beautiful setting. The set-up of the venue is perfect. I've been to so many weddings where you're either traveling to one setting to another, or there's a long wait between events, and it really drags the whole day down. Our guests went seamlessly from one spot to the next. I have no complaints, only excessive gratitude for the team at the Harris.

I attended a reception here, and that sealed the deal for me entirely. They really advertise for a much better experience than what is given in reality, including "on-Site and Transportation to and from the venue," which means that if equipment breaks down (and it did) that you are left waiting to pile onto a bus whenever they can get one to your guests. Walking into the space, all I could see was an awful slab floor. It looked as if they were still in renovation stage or something. Just awful. Your guests get one little coat rack that looks as if they bought it online, and it's in a back hallway as you make your way to the restrooms. It's a cramped space and I wonder why this place was so poorly built, but then I remembered what I call the 'benefactor factor,' and it became more and more clear. The only way that this place becomes "gorgeous," as it's been referred to in other posts, is if you spend a ton of money with a trained event professional (outside and separate cost, of course) to beautify it. Otherwise, you have a small room with a slab floor to work with. The only redeeming quality of the place is the outside deck.

The pricing was very reasonable, especially for everything that was included. Only thing I wish was included was a space to get ready. We really appreciated being able to decorate and rehearse the night before -- it made the whole wedding weekend feel much less stressful and more organized. Having both the ceremony and reception in the same building was also so convenient for us and our guests. The bar service was excellent. The bartenders were fast and friendly, the coordinator and staff was amazing to work with, and Distinctive Catering did a fantastic job. Great food and Drinks, and even helpful service with buffet. We also loved the DJ they recommended through Complete Wedding + Events. The day-of coordinators were especially wonderful -- they did such a great job converting the ceremony space into a lounge area during cocktail hour while incorporating all of my decor used in the ceremony to the reception perfectly. All the little details were handled without having to ask. Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better experience and would absolutely recommend the Waddell Center to other couples looking for a beautiful, affordable, and well-organized venue!

The two white, male bartenders assigned to her event were not friendly to the guests, creating an off-putting atmosphere right from the start. To make matters worse, several guests overheard the bartenders making racial comments about probably not receiving any tips. This behavior is utterly unacceptable, disgusting and was clearly racially motivated. Given that their wedding was attended primarily by Black and Brown guests we knew exactly why they said it! Absolutely a racist trope that we don't tip or tip well. Multiple guests complained to the bride, groom and/or someone in wedding party about this. It is deeply troubling that a venue they entrusted with such a special occasion would employ individuals who clearly harbor racial bias. All I will say is that minority couples need to be aware. No one should have to worry or deal with this bs on their special day nor should their guests.
