I don't normally find museums that interesting but I spent quite a long time wandering around the various spaces and found the variety of historical content fascinating.
There is the whole history of the discovery of Bass Strait, with a detailed map of Bass and Flinder's voyages confirming the existence of the Strait; lots of details of wrecks that have occurred in the treacherous waters; details of the early industries around Davenport; a room devoted to ship building techniques; and, quite eye opening, details of how the Germans mined Bass Strait during the war resulting in two sinkings.
Also, want to know where the world's largest waterfall is then check out the topographical map of the Strait.
