Took my little, crazy puppy there this weekend, and was blown away by all the trees and pathways you could take within the dog park (let alone the full park). As someone that loves to take her dog on long hikes in the middle of nowhere and allow him to run free (when no one is around and there are no leash laws), this park gave me the perfect place to take him when I can't drive a few hours for one of our solitude hikes but I still want him to run free in nature. All the dogs are great, and due to how big the park is, no dog showed signs of being territorial.

And the Yelp directions take you to the high school. You need to go a bit further on the other side to get to the actual dog park. I found it easier to just follow directions from maps rather than following yelp directions which takes you to the back of the high school.

My dog used to get eye infections each time we went. You're basically walking on a liter box. So I recommend taking a separate set of shoes and placing them in a plastic bag when you return to your vehicle. We finally buckled down and called to set up a consultation. To be honest- before going in, we were skeptical thinking they would try to sell us a bunch of things, unnecessary or not applicable classes in order just to make money...but it was nothing like this! Tim was A-MAZING! Cannot say enough great things about this trainer! He is a straight shooter and tells it like it is, and I like that. We are coming there to get our dog under control not have a tea party....so this is wonderful that he is knowledgeable and sees exactly what needs to be done. He told us the types of collars and leashes to buy for our pups, and what type of classes we would benefit most from! I even admitted in the consultation that "I need some training" and Tim agreed that most owners do. I liked this! So, we have our first class this upcoming Friday, ordered the leashes and collars through Chewy, and we are good to go! Excited, hopeful, and SOOOO grateful for this facility and Tim!

I didn't see any disc golfers there when I was with my little one though! There is a lot of grass, well-maintained, as well as many cement paths to walk. The lower meadow trail opens into peaceful grasslands. Had an unforgettable moment on the high meadow. Spotted a mountain lion 700 or so hundred feet away croached near a melting snow berm. Then, I rounded a bend in the distance and it disappeared behind a thicket. I walked backward for 30 minutes with a snapped-off branch of scrub oak. Wild. Beautiful. Humbling. Colorado at its best.

It was at 8am on a…read morebeautiful Sunday and about 10 of us gathered at the beautiful hiking trail for a quick hike with our SLRs (for mw, it was my iPhone !!!) to take stunning photos. Sounded like my kind of thing so I joined. And I'm glad that I did. It had been very pleasant when it came to the temperatures for the last week or two in Colorado. None of us were prepared for the snow covered trails so definitely bring your spikes or chains to wear on your shoes or it might be a bit dangerous to hike this trail during cold(er) months; it was very slippery. The hike is pretty moderate so this is a great place for beginners and families with small kids. But this is not to say that the hike doesn't contain stunning views; with that being said, this is a hidden gem. Per the organizer, he and his wife sometimes get up early in the morning like 3am(!!) to catch the sunrise as this is one of the best places for it. I guess I will try that in the near future but I honestly don't know if I'd get up at 3am!! The trail is well maintained and very easy to navigate. This is a popular spot for people who live in Castle Rock or Sedalia but it's also for someone like me who live in Denver; it's about 30/35 minutes away from it. Not bad!
