Almost 2 years ago I was on a walk with my dog when an Amazon employee almost ran the both of us down. I called out to the Amazon driver and this man opened his window and called me the N-word in front of several of my neighbors. As a black American, I have experienced racism far too many times to count. I was overcome by several emotions. Rage, frustration, fatigue. Fatigue at having to deal with this sort of sickness, cancer. Saddened that so many of us have to deal with it. I contacted Devin in 2017 or 2018 (don't even remember anymore!) when it was obvious I was being discriminated against with the new manager of my department. Even though there was no action to be taken at the time, Devin continued to consult with me and even did some ghost-writing of responses for me when I'd get emails from either the manager or HR of the firm I was working for. He never gave up on me or my case, and was very supportive. Later, like over a full year later, when the inevitable happened and I was "laid off" he was my first call. Mr Devin Coyle is the best attorney Ive ever met. I was in tight spot at work and i felt it could worsen soon. I felt bullied and isolated as i informed myself of the employment laws of CA. After reading all i could understandof the various laws, i called Mr. Coyle and he was super clear aboutthe reality of the scenario. I ended up being unfairly terminated, and so began a four and a half year odessey that "ended" with a 14 day trial at which my jury found in favor for us and awarded a seven figure award to boot.
