Really the only place to get a meal around near Devil's Tower. Wonderfully friendly service willing to accommodate food restrictions, but the food is just not that great. The tater tots are frozen, the cheese is Kraft singles or something like it, and we found the strawberry rhubarb pie really tough to eat. The filling was gelatinous and the pastry was dense. I feel bad saying all this because the woman working there was so warm and welcoming! And it might be better if you could eat the meat, and if you warmed up the pie and topped it with ice cream. But we probably wouldn't stop here again unless we were both starving, per the clever sign outside. read more

we stopped in here the night we stayed nearby. I will admit, their billboard saying something like "come here to eat or we will both starve" is what made me stop in here. It was fine, We ordered burgers and fries, along with a couple drinks. Nothing terrible but nothing spectacular. Exceptional service and can't beat the view of the canyon from the outdoor seating area. The owner of this homey little place personally greeted us and chatted with us and was very friendly. The food was great as well. My husband had the buffalo burger which he really enjoyed and I had a breakfast sandwich which was awesome. I don't eat meat so they prepared the ham on the side for a dog to enjoy and made sure he got a bowl of water as well. Would highly recommend to try after visiting Devil's Tower. read more

The buffalo burgers still live on in our memory as the best we found on our long road trip in the summer of 2017.

At this time of year (late Autumn), the only option for a meal in the Devil's Tower area. We were one of two tables in the early evening but could not have been made more welcome. The cafe adjoins a large gift shop and is run by a husband and wife duo. She's in the gift shop and he runs the cafe. Fare is burgers, some dishes such as steak and Broasted chicken. My husband had a 'small' burger with cheese and fries for $7.95. I had a broasted chicken meal with 4 pieces of chicken and wedges (jojos) for $8.95. The meals were inevitably generous so we shared the burger and 2 small pieces of chicken. The other 2 pieces we took home with us and enjoyed cold for lunch the next day. We had to say 'no' to the home made pie. I had never heard of a Broaster so we even got a tour of the kitchen to see what one looks like. Generous local hospitality and certainly worth a visit. read more

We made a clever choice and walked around Devil's Tower early, while it was still cool. Plus we worked up a good appetite that was nicely sated here. Pancakes were tender and fluffy, eggs and sausage patty just right. Mama and Pookie split a frybread taco that was everything the one at Wayside so long ago wasn't. a fantastic place to stop for lunch before of after your tour of devils tower monument. the bison burger is tender and perfectly cooked. DO NOT, i repeat, DO NOT miss the homemade cream pies. This place looks neat but unremarkable from the outside. Inside, the dining area is small and fairly basic, sharing the inside space with a store/souvenir gift shop. The menu was not extensive but had a good variety of burgers and a couple of other offerings. It feels like a real "mom and pop" place with one lady running the store and dining room and one man in the kitchen cooking. The taco salad I had for lunch was very tasty with nice fresh diced tomato and lettuce and served in a fresh, crisp tortilla shell that was not bland or tough like some of the "packaged" ones I've had in other places. The waitress who served us was very friendly and our food was prepared quickly. After noticing the sign for fruit pies, I asked the waitress if they were home made. She said "yes, I make all the fruit pies myself". My husband and I shared a slice of cherry pie and it was wonderful - light flaky pastry and tasty cherries. My husband had a buffalo burger which he said was delicious, and I enjoyed an "Indian Taco" (fry bread based). Not haute cuisine, but reliable, tasty food in a comfortable atmosphere. i came here upon recommendation of the koa a mile away. those locals sure know some good food and hospitality. it's an unsuspecting place that looks like a bar from the outside. when i arrived there were more bikes than cars, but that might be due to the upcoming 75th anniversary of sturgis. either way, bikers and locals know good food. upon entering the building, i thought i might have gone to the wrong place because you see souvenirs, however look right and you'll see the seating area. i was greeted by an elderly gentleman who sat down with me, when he realized i was a solo traveler, and we chatted a bit. he was sweet. he recommended the chicken, however i've always heard of fry bread (a native american product) so i had to try it. it was a fry bread mexican salad. imagine a taco salad but a piece of fry bread in place of the shell. it did not disappoint. often, i can't finish any of my meals i cleaned the entire plate. then the suggestion of dessert was brought up, something i typically don't order. but then he said the magic word pie, i was intrigued. i have no clue how many pies they have because the first one he said was my favorite type of pie - strawberry & rhubarb. i was sold. plus, he then stated that it's all from scratch including the ice cream. double sold. then he added that it's their best pie. triple dog sold. boy, did this guy know what he was talking about. i always say trust the locals, bikers and old people they know where good food is. i cleaned that plate of pie too. two plates fully clean.. i can't even remember the last time i cleaned a plate or two! when i went to settle my check, i was talking to the lady that i think helps serve and cook. she gave great advice for local routes to yellowstone (thank you if you are reading this. 16 was amazing! you did not disappoint). she also informed me the man helping me was the owner. good to see that there are people who don't treat strangers like strangers. sum up: this is a must stop place. if you are into bikers or a biker, this is your joint. read more
