The Deutsches Eck or German Corner, is where the Rhein and Mösel rivers converge in Koblenz. The corner has several memorials to German history, including pieces of the Berlin Wall and renaming a street after Chancellor Konrad Adenauer. But the corner is dominated by a huge bronze statue of German Emperor and the King of Prussia, Wilhelm I the Kaiser's father. It was rebuilt in 1993. One of the more emotional and sad histories shown in laminate placards (photos) here, is the the erection of the Berlin Wall by the communists and the solders who shot at anyone who trying to crossover to the west. It was clearly a painful time for the Germans themselves and the west, which felt helpless to stop these atrocities. The German Corner became a symbol for German Re-Unification both by Adenauer and President Theodor Heuss for the German people Today, the flags of the sixteen German Länder States fly here, in remembrance of German unity. Btw, the Basilica of St. Castor, the oldest church in Koblenz is very close and worth seeing. read more

On our first walk after checking in we came to see where the two rivers join. As a bonus, a huge statue of Wilhelm King of Prussia awaited our view. Lots of river traffic , commercial and Viking Cruises. read more

There is a great statue of Kaiser Wilhelm The first stop his horse here. It is very imposing and I did numerous photo shoots there when I was a kid (I was raised in Koblenz). If you have a chance to go, I recommend two things: lunch or dine at Blumenhof, one of Koblenz's finest restaurants) and take the cable car to the Festung, it's really worth it. read more

Definitely a recommend for a COVID safe outdoor activity. This is the point where the two rivers in Germany meet. There is a nice little Biergarten just down the way and it is overlooked by a really cool castle. Just a bit down the other path you have the cable cars up to the fortress. Speaking of the fortress, great views up to it from here. I think this would be a really fun spot to hop on a river cruise when they're running again. Or maybe just bring a sandwich and hang on the steps. I'm glad our wandering around brought us here and it could be an interesting thing to show visiting friends and family! read more

Nice bit of history & landscaping. This is a major stop for all the river cruising boats so there were lots of tourists but there is a nice, shady promenade leading to this monument. Where the Rhine meets the Mosel. Waters were supposed to showcase different colors but we didn't notice any difference. Maybe there needs to be a special time of year? Deursches Eck or the "German Corner", is at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle Rivers. It is dedicated to German unity. The national flag and the flags of the 16 Lander (states) are flying at the German Corner as a reminder of that German unity. In November 1989, three concrete parts of the Berlin Wall were installed and are now dedicated to the "victims of the division". There is also a bronze statue of Wilhelm l that replaced the original that was damaged during World War ii. A most amazing landmark. read more

Never thought I would have the opportunity to be here. Grateful to have has the chance. While not terribly knowledgable about German history, this appears to be a significant location/marker for the German heritage. If you are in the area check it out. We arrived in late November (almost December) but I would imagine this to be a summer hot spot. 4 stars but only because we weren't able to experience it in the summer. read more
