Title: Unpleasant Shopping Experience Due to Racist Surveillance
Rating:
I recently had a deeply disappointing experience while shopping at Destructible. My boyfriend, who happens to be black, and I visited the store with the intention of making some purchases. However, throughout our entire shopping trip, he was subjected to unwarranted and unsettling surveillance by the store staff. This racist surveillance was conducted by a female employee during the week of 10/12-10/16.
From the moment we entered the store, it was evident that the employees were keeping a close eye on my boyfriend, which made our shopping experience uncomfortable and humiliating. It was clear that the constant monitoring was solely based on his race, as there were no apparent reasons for such surveillance.
This kind of behavior not only violates the principles of equality and respect but also creates an unwelcoming atmosphere for customers of diverse backgrounds. It is essential for any store to treat all customers with fairness and dignity, regardless of their ethnicity. This experience also highlights the lack of education store clerks had on actual sneakers as my boyfriend was also wearing Travis Scott Jordan's- out pricing all other shoes in the store. It is clear there is a deep need for further training not only for diversity and inclusion, but also for the actual items you display within your store.
I would strongly advise the management of Destructible to address this issue and implement appropriate training and policies to ensure that such prejudiced actions do not happen in the future. A store should be a place where people can shop in peace and without fear of being singled out due to their race.
Due to this distressing experience, I cannot recommend Destructible to anyone, as I believe that no one should endure this type of discrimination while trying to shop for their needs. read more
