Honestly not sure how this was going to be as I've never been to Designer Con but I got a bunch of my friends to join me as one of our friends also had a booth at the show. Totally better and bigger than I expected and most the vendors are very friendly... Some parts of the show are commercialized but I like that there are a lot of Independent Artists and Designers able to share and sell their works! Earlier in the day it wasn't as crowded but by after 12PM it was pretty packed in some areas.... I ended up buying a few things though in my head I knew I shouldn't! End to end it was an awesome event if you like Pop Culture items and a lot of various things....from collector to enthusiast it was really cool!

11am, the doors opened at 10am and it looks like a 30 min+ wait in line to get in 2017 Designer Con

The 2017 show (going on now, today Sunday 11/12/17 too!) was big! We went on Sat 11/11 Veteran's Day and bought our tickets in advance online the morning day of the show ($10 day or $15 for 2 days or $35 for VIP 2 day with early entry and no line waiting to get in), so had our tickets, figuring the doors opened at 10am and we got there at 11am and assumed the fanatics who come early were in and we could walk right in... Wrong! It was a 1 hr wait in line for ticket holders to get in :( - this is sort of academic with many pop culture events like comic conventions, so everyone is used to the slow process, yet I know there are easier more efficient ways to process attendees to enter. I head the show is moving to Anaheim in 2018, so maybe they will upgrade the process there and then. The show itself was crowded i side but not unbearable to walk through and navigate the 3 separated exhibit halls, filled with unique vendors. We saw artist, Macy there was well as Public Enemy's Flavor Flav, Ron English, Luke Cheuh and heard that Tara McPherson was there as well as Gary Baseman, Paul Frank and other popular vinyl toy/designer artists. This is a fun event.

I heard about DCon from a friend at WCA and was very pleasantly surprised by it! Lots of vendors, and the creativity from the people here is off the charts. There's everything from original art to sculptures and everything in between. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/designer-con-pasadena?select=CviE0o7TzBWW-vFZkm1qzg&userid=97Dj5h5CQUsWZrEWj3wWOg https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/designer-con-pasadena?select=4cChz9SFmxEqXo_LXvhcCw&userid=97Dj5h5CQUsWZrEWj3wWOg https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/designer-con-pasadena?select=5sn2Wwcfnzp3S3N2Uvr6yw&userid=97Dj5h5CQUsWZrEWj3wWOg It's definitely not as congested as WCA or SDCC, which is always a plus. From what I gather, DCon has expanded from Exhibit Halls A/B to now include Exhibit Hall C. In my opinion, that is the perfect size. We were able to walk the entire floor in about 3hr, then circle back to some booths and make some purchases. Parking definitely needs to improve - we got redirected to a full lot, then had to circle back to a structure with a single entrance. Getting badges was cake - there was a guy outside the convention center who just stood around and scanned bar codes and passed out badges - very low key! Plus, the first 100 or so people in line to get into the convention center got some sort of exclusive (sadly that wasn't us because of the stupid parking thing).

We have been going to Designer Con for several years now. It's a wonderful opportunity to see artists that we would have never seen otherwise. I have bought T-shirt's, pins, keychains, bags, and even pixel blocks there. I am going to miss being able to see it in Pasadena as it is going to be in Anaheim this year. The only complaint that I have is that they made people stand in a ridiculously long line to get scanned in. It was easily 40 min that we waited and that was only because my friend was already in line. All of these people had already paid in advance and it seemed extremely inefficient and slow. I'm hopeful that this issue will be rectified in Anaheim and that the layout will be such that all the vendors will have an equal opportunity to be seen.

Comi Con, Adult Con, Hemp Con, etc.. There are conventions for every little hobby and niche out there; which is great! While looking for new art pieces I came across Leanna Lin's Wonderland, which lead me to Supah Cute, which lead me here to Designer Con. When I bought the tickets online on Friday, in my head with the thought this is going to be small and quaint. That thought completely vanished from my head as we walked up to the Pasadena Convention Center and saw the Back to the Future DeLorean with hella people crowding around it. Turns out, Designer Con has gained a pretty good following over the last couple of years. It also just so happens that before it was called Designer Con, it was the Vinyl Toy Network. Although it was an appropriate name with all the different kinds of toys by very talented people, Designer Con just rolls off the tongue much better, haha. | T I C K E T S | Online price tickets were $5 and at the door $7. Damn great way to spend $5-$7 if you were looking for something fun to do for the day. | L O C A T I O N & P A R K I N G | I'm not sure if they use the same venue every year but this year it's at the Pasadena Convention Center across the Paseo Colorado. There were a lot of signs for event parking ($9) around but since my gym is in the Paseo Colorado plaza, I just parked in the structure and got validation. | C O N C E S S I O N S | The reason I only gave 4 stars is because of the severe lack of concessions here. There was only one open in the main hall and like most conventions, the prices were high and the food was not yummy. But when you're excited to see your favorite artists, you don't mind skimping out on some things. There's an attached Starbucks but with all the other people looking to get a pick me up for the hours they plan to walk around the convention center, it's packed. Across the street are a few places to get coffee and food so my advice: eat before you come here!! I can't wait till next year's Designer Con! :) Just please get a good coffee sponsor or something please!!!

    Gotta go back in time!

If you like toys/art/collectibles (especially vinyl), designer con is definitely worth a visit! Buy tickets online to save a bit of money. So many things to look at...admittedly, it's a little bit of a sensory overload. Favorite discovery of 2014? -- Citizen Brick's Dragon Fighter Force (aka Game of Thrones Custom Legos)

Outrageously oversold. Quarter mile line for presale ticket holders.

Why buy presale tickets? Who organized this event? Nothing like an hours long wait to start the event.

The Night Market itself was alright there wasn't many vendors or much of really anything to occupy our time with. The screen they were showing Back To The Future on was relatively small and just wasn't an all around enjoyable size for the large group of people in the park. What this appeared to be was something that wasn't a too well thought out idea had they had a bigger screen we might have stayed longer than the first few minutes of the movie. The atmosphere on the other hand was killer I mean come on your in a park next to the awesomeness that is the Packing District so that was definitely a plus as was the free admission to the event. Hopefully they do this again sometime and put a bit more planning into the event as it could potently be a spectacular family friendly outing for all ages to enjoy!

Trance music is one of my favorites, and WW highlights it. They used to have 2 stages but last year and this year they cut it down to 1. I don't mind 1 stage because I never have to decide which DJ I want to see. But on the flip side, you better be happy with the whole lineup! Ticket prices ranged from $120-150 depending on how early you bought them. I might just be dreaming, but I feel like the rave prices of $60-70 like back in the day would be a lot more fair for a 1 stage event. This is a 21+ event, which I love. The crowd is much more relaxed and responsible than you find at other massives. The decor was a bit lacking for how large of a space they had to work with. I loved the abundance of confetti and streamers that they shot out throughout the night. The Wishing Tree when you enter is a gorgeous photo op, and a cute idea to pen down your goals and wishes for the new year. Coat check is available but I don't find a need for it now that they have moved the line inside. I want to get my money's worth so I arrive close to 7 when doors open. Check-in has always been quick and painless. There are 3 tiers, ID check, security check, and ticket check. My friends and I went to the front very close to the stage and were able to remain there the whole night. We were not squished for the most part and as people from our group exited to the sides they were able to get back to us easily. I didn't realize how far back the crowd went until I left at the end of the night! We were lucky to be in the front. When I go to events I don't move around much, so I can't comment on bathroom or water lines. They had water vendors walking through the crowd at the front of the stage so you don't have to leave if you don't want to. Water from those vendors cost $4 and there was a water refill station near the back. I love that the event is so local so that for once I don't have to drive all the way out to the NOS Center or LA. Getting a hotel within walking distance is the best idea since cabs and Ubers can take a while to book. DON'T BE A PARTY POOPER. WEAR ALL WHITE. And have fun :)

Go dance your tush off to amazing music, surrounded by beautiful and weird people, and melt your face off to a ridiculous light show. What better way to ring in the New Year than in a puddle on the floor of the Anaheim Convention Center? EVENT LOCATION I loved bringing the party to Anaheim rather than San Bernardino for NYE. It's indoors, which means a lot on a chilly December night! It's also closer to home for me. The big minus here is that the Anaheim Convention Center fills up with 10,000+ people on the same night that its neighbor, Disneyland, has its busiest day of the year. Getting in and out probably took me an hour and a half total because the streets were so backed up heading in and out of the festival. I even left early to try to beat White Wonderland traffic, and I ended up in the thick of Disneyland traffic -- so many people stayed in the Park til after 1!! GETTING IN & OUT While getting to and from the Convention Center was a challenge, getting into the Center itself was pretty much a breeze. Yes, the line was long, but it moved quickly. The single-door-open policy to get in to the center itself was questionable, as it meant the longest line outside in the cold. I luckily had a coat with me, but would much rather have gotten inside quickly, and waited longer for ID/security checks. There were so many shivering ravers and I felt so bad for them. But there were plenty of staff to direct us from the parking structure ($15, steep but better than the $20 at NOS) to the Convention Center, and I appreciated that CSC Event Staff never seemed to be far away. FOOD & DRINKS I finally got to eat some of the food! And it was incredibly average, and a little stressful in my all-white outfit. The longest line was for the sushi stand, and I was happy to recognize Rolling Sushi Van slinging their rolls at this event. If it weren't for the long line I would have snatched up some California rolls myself. I didn't drink as I was driving and really just needed water to hydrate, and that was $4 a pop. Skip the pizza, and the chicken wrap from California Grill is a hastily assembled wrap without a tortilla. MUSIC Once again, this is where Insomniac is firing on all cylinders. With only two stages this time, there were less artists than at Nocturnal or Escape, but they still had a great lineup. I was so impressed that they got some incredible names who were also double-booked on NYE! I'd heard that last year a double-booked artist no-showed as he couldn't get out of Vegas, and with 4-6 performers on their way to Oakland or San Diego after their sets this year, I was almost prepared to be disappointed. But everyone showed up, played incredible sets, and I danced until I couldn't dance or keep my eyes open any longer. Hardwell and Bingo Players were highlights, with phenomenal stints from Sebastian Ingrosso and Above & Beyond as well. If you are coming for the music, there is really no other place to be on New Year's Eve. My 2013 resolution: Complete the Insomniac circle with Electric Daisy Carnival in Vegas! See you there!!

The breweries were great! I discovered my new 2nd favorite beer from Noble Ale Works: Naughty Sauce! It was a heavenly Sweet stout. The food was great as well, the watermelon gazpacho from Gypsy Den was fabulous! Also the beer infused dessert. To my surprise it was a Wine stand from Colony, a wine bar nearby (mental note: I have to go!!) Also It was great to see some fellow helpers and beer-lovers: Sandya, Joe and Roy. This event is a must for all beer-lovers, it's a great way to try all the new beers from local breweries. The weather was hot as hell but the sacrifice was worth it: with all the cool people, great beers, awesome music, what else can a girl ask for? I'll be there next year. Highly recommended!!

I can't eat coconut stuff but that banana bread pudding was to died for, don't really taste the caramel. $8.49 for the Banana Caramel Bread Puddiing and remember you can mobile order this item. Now getting back to the Food and Wine, got my 8 item pass and you can order all at once at one of the main booth and pick up the items along the way, no need to get in line for every item you need. I purchased my pass at the first shop you see when you enter in the DCA to your left or there are other places you can purchased these passes at participation locations on which you can find on the little food and wine booklet. As you can tell by the pictures, i have label a grading systems out of ten and the most desires items are the mickey snickers and the sirloin gruyere mac & cheese, everything else were mid or decent, other than the three items that is not part of the SSP. Can't wait to go next year but I'm hoping to go to the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts at DisneyWorld in January of 2027 (dates not confirm yet, maybe TimTracker vlogs will tell me later on this year)

This festival was a great way to try different foods but my partner and I were surprised at the portion size since it was our first time experiencing this. Since it is Disneyland, expect the portions to be extremely small. I think if you have the chance to, it's nice to part take in the festival but definitely not a must. Some foods were just a little gimmicky and not worth the price. Items that stood out and would get again! - Pickle Sour: 5/5 - Ramen Mac N' Cheese: 5/5 (goes great w/ the chili oil they included) - Sirloin Mac N' Cheese: 5/5 - Toffe Banana: 4/5

Unfortunately it took me 30 minutes to drive up and down the block before I got a parking space. This was during the last day of the fair. So the fair is held annually over Memorial Day weekend. I just don't know if it's because it's the last day, but it was sooo crowded! Like couldn't enjoy my time crowded. Maybe that's why I couldn't find parking. Anyways, for it being advertise as a strawberry festival, there was nothing strawberry about it. I thought it would be crafts and goodies that are strawberry themed. The only thing I saw was a strawberry stand that was charging $20 for three small baskets of strawberries, a strawberry lemonade stand and a funnel cake place. It was so unorganized. I had no idea where the line was for anything. And with the over crowdedness, it wasn't even worth it. I would describe it as a small scale county fair mixed with swamp meet vendors. I thought the vendors would be unique with fun/new products but it's just random items that I didn't care to look at. I cannot believe I drove over an hour to come here.

Garden Grove Strawberry Festival is a small and local festival that happens annually over Memorial…read moreDay weekend. This is the 65th year for the event and I only learned about this festival just few days ago. This is Garden Grove's annual signature event just like how The Tet Parade is City of Westminster's signature event. [Parking]: I came here on Sunday morning at 10 AM and visitors already began to fill up street parking, but I got lucky and was able to find a free street parking spot two blocks away from the festival (Lampson Ave). However visitors can also pay $10 at the Garden Grove United Methodist Church parking lot. [Admission]: Free admission. [Main reasons to come here]: The festival hosts a parade on Saturday morning of each year with marching bands, classic cars, and C-tier/D-tier celebrities. They also host family friendly contests, FREE concerts inside the Garden Amp, FREE strawberry shortcake cake (one piece per person) during the opening ceremony that started at 6 PM on Friday at the intersection of Main Street and Acacia, Saturday VIP Breakfast before the parade that started at 8:15 AM ($15 per person) inside the Garden Grove Community Center, and The GEM Theater Open House from 12 PM to 6 PM on Saturday, Sunday and Monday of the festival. [What to see here]: 50% of the festival grounds = classic carnival rides / fairground food and the other 50% = vendor booths. Vendor booths included local arts and crafts , bonsai, face painting, butterfly garden (not free), and even a barber booth. As for fairground food, local baseball teams / high school clubs / Kiwanis were selling funnel cakes, tacos, corns, boba, etc. If visitors just come here to do window shopping and are not doing any rides, then they can probably go through the entire fairground in about 30 minutes. [Other special notes]: No pets allowed on the festival grounds, except service animals. [Conclusion]: The festival brings a lot of nostalgia and it feels like an ultra miniature version of L.A. County Fair. If visitors expect to see strawberry-theme vendors, then they will be sorely disappointed as there were only few vendors that actually sell strawberries. With that being said, this festival wasn't all that bad - a great festival to bring kids or even go on a date.

Why? As I recall Nguyen hue didn't have a food court. This had a food court which took over a side street n boy was that fun, they had my favorite "banh khot fr Vung Tau" grilled lobster tail. Soups, pancakes etc.. all the yummy street food you can afford wo having to sell your house these days. The flowers were amazing orchids, gladiolus there were many juicery stands, beef jerky stores, I bought a nice fake Chanel sweater only $25 just as good as the real thing. They also sell red envelopes for "lixi" happy or lucky money, on week ends they had live music n lion dance. I love the Asian Garden mall the only indoor mall we have here. Vietnamese from 49 states came here every year n most will immediately make plan to move to this land of milk n honey, it used to be really easy to move here n so cheap too. An average home I used to sell for $140k is now $1.4 million in Little Saigon so most VN tourists will just hang out here enjoy the ambiance, the food n have to go home, even then it's so worth it to visit a home away from home.

This one wasn't nearly as much fun. It was more families and less sexy stormtrooper parties (yes, that is a thing). The biggest disappointment is that the ONE official Celebration store was so overwhelmed and underprepared that it was closed after the first full day. When we tried to go in, there was an absolutely enormous line just to enter and truly frightening lines to check out, so we just walked away. There also weren't as many interesting panels this time or big events/organized parties. It was basically shopping at a giant Star Wars garage sale. Which is still not a bad way to spend a day. The food options at this one were much improved as well. And I did come home with some very cool geek toys. MTFBWY!

They always seemed to be clueless about what was going on or how to handle a situation. This is the only issue I have with the event. The rest of it is fantastic. There's so much to see and do. Pro Tip: Even if you live close by, as I do. Choose a hotel that is close to the event and I mean basically next door like the Marriott or Hilton. The Marriott was where we stayed. It was well worth the money because you will be exhausted and hungry at the end of each day and it save so much time. We walked out of the event and were in our hotel or restaurant in less than 5 minutes. You can easily do that multiple times a day without hassle and using a car.

I was there at 11:30, so a half hour before the official opening time, but everything was pretty much set up. Just eyeballing it, I'd say there were about 15-20 food vendors and another 15-20 retail vendors. I don't know if it's always held at the Anaheim Gardenwalk, but it was this time and I'd say it's a good place to have it for the amount of vendors that there were. The garage parking is a short walk to the event and (including the walking time back and forth), I was there 1 hour, 45 minutes and the parking was only $4. While I was there, there were drum entertainers and they were very good! There were a fair amount of attendees, just enough to enjoy yourself, meaning there was space to walk around comfortably and the lines and wait times for everything was short. Do come hungry because there is good food there! I bought from 7 vendors...all happened ro be food. Overall, I'd say it's a lovely way to spend 1.5 - 2 hours. It was just my husband and I and we didn't rush through it. We walked around the whole thing so we saw all the vendors that were there.
