The chicken 65 and chicken tikka were okay. My favorite is the mutton biryani and garlic naan. Nice decor. Plenty of parking.

Chicken 65 Taco

Met some friends here for an afternoon snack. It was bustling on a Saturday afternoon! They have lots of options for snacks, entrées, and dessert. The place overall is clean and decorated nicely. I opted for chicken 65 taco; I didn't like the amount of cabbage that was on it, I felt it took away from the taco. Ended up getting an upset stomach pretty soon after eating, hence the three stars. Would probably try some other options, but will be cautious...

Rabdi Gulab Jamun and Rasmalai Pastry

One of the first Indian places I went to upon moving to Dallas, and we really enjoyed the food. They have lots of options based on what you're craving, so I enjoyed that aspect. You can get a little of everything. Tried so far: - Chicken Dum Biryani -Achari Chicken Kati Roll -Rabdi -Ras Malai All have been good, and the spice levels are just right, not too spicy in my opinion. My only complaint that I would have is that they need to be better at cleaning up after customers and keeping the common areas and seating more cleanly. It's supposed to be a place where you clean up after yourself, but there is almost always curry on the tables and just a mess. Which isn't appealing when you walk in. It's not their fault that customers don't do it, but they should make more of an effort to keep up with it. Can't wait to go back, wish it wasn't so far from me!

Had the goat and fried chicken Mandi, my regular spot for the Desi mandi. With great ambiance.

If you want the taste of Indian street food within the confines of a restaurant, this place is the right one. The feel inside is very much like that of a very busy Indian restaurant in busy towns in India. Very casual ambiance. It's order up front, pay, and pick up when ready. Fully self serve. There's an array of North and South Indian items along with Indo-Chinese fusion offerings. Portions are large and price is very reasonable.

I had desi district at a wedding and liked it. Thus, I had high hopes of trying the restaurant. Even on a Sunday evening it was packed with people and the ambiance really felt like an Indian cafe back in India. We tried a masala dosa, chicken tikka kathi roll, and achari chicken. Honestly, none of the food really stood out. The dosa barely had enough subji, the chicken kathi roll was okay, and the achari was probably the best item but nothing special. I will say I have pretty high expectations for Indian food. They have a wide variety and maybe next time we try try some other dishes.

Butter chicken - super salty and spicy. They did not ask me spice level
Linn P.

Stopped by to try out their butter chicken. It was 30 mins till closing time and they were still pretty busy. About 15-20 ppl here. Ppl still coming in after me to order to go. I got an order their butter chicken. It was a good amount for about $13. It had Some good chunks of chicken. It was... not great. I'd say maybe even the worst butter chicken I've ever bought. It was extremely salty and pretty spicy. Normally when I order at other restaurants, I can choose a spice level. They didn't ask me a level so maybe gave me a level 3-4 out of 5? I normally don't mind spice, but my bf could not even take a bite. I took it home to adjust it in order to eat it. The amount was plentiful, although I did have to add a lot of stuff in to adjust it. This place is decently priced. My friend loves the one in Frisco. But maybe I'll try a diff location.

I've come so many times and tried so many things, that I can't believe I hadn't posted a review yet! I always have a difficult time finding places that are decorated well, have a good atmosphere and also have good food. This place checks all the boxes. The art all over the walls and the puns are very cute and fun. It's a great visual to take in while waiting for food. Speaking of the food, there really is no way to go wrong. The biryani, whether chicken or paneer, have always been top tier. The chicken tikka masala, butter chicken and mutton curry are all ones I've tried and found delicious. Between their tandoori chicken and the manchurian momos I really can't pick a winner. I haven't tried many of the fusion dishes, but everything so far has been great. I'd highly recommend anyone to check this place out!

I stopped by for a quick lunch with a friend. This was my first time here and I was not disappointed. The restaurant is very spacious so you can social distance and they even have an upper floor. We both had the lamb lunch combo and it was the perfect amount of food. You get a side of both lamb and dal curry, generous portion of rice and some naan. The lamb curry is perfectly spiced and tender while the dal curry provided that perfect balance of texture and sweet flavor. You also get a small gulab jamun to end your lunch. Overall the meal was comforting and satisfying. I will definitely be back to try all their dishes!

Veggie curry pastry and small chai
Alyssa C.

Came here for chai/tea time with a friend! They have three types of chai tea with free refills for you to try. We got the small size for $1 each and shared a veggie curry pastry puff. The chai was hot and flavorful and the pastry puff was really good! Not as spicy as I had originally anticipated and paired really well w the chai. The space was bright and airy and overall a fun place to catch up over chai!

Egg bhurji with paav
Naveen R.

Desi District is a good place to experience Indian fusion food in the Irving area. If you want to try burgers with a unique twist using ingredients and flavors from the sub-continent, this is the place to be. They also offer traditional Indian fare as well. For this review I tried the following items which I haven't before from this restaurant: 1. Egg Bhurji - This translates to scrambled eggs tossed in a sauce with onions, chilies and spices. Served with a side of toasted paav bread, meant to be eaten in a similar manner as a traditional paav bhaaji. The gravy was extremely flavorful although the egg in itself seemed to be a tab overcooked. The toasted paav was great and not overdone. The rest of the paav was soft and perfect to mop up the sauce. 2. Pepper chicken - Chopped up pieces of chicken generously seasoned with a lot of crushed pepper, onions and bell peppers and finally had a slightly sweet glaze. The chicken was well cooked and seasoned, but the sweet taste was not too much to my liking. 3. Chicken fried rice - The protein in the dish was cooked to a crispy finish which was different and added a bit of welcome texture to the dish, but unfortunately the dish needed salt. 4. Rabdi tres leches - A bonafide fusion dish to end the meal, rabdi being from the Indian sub continent and tres leches traditionally latin American. In this case the dairy (milk) was traditionally condensed as in a rabdi and as is with a traditional tres leches dessert, but added almonds and spice that comes with rabdi. Great way to end the meal.

This time I went a bit all out and ordered the butter chicken momo, creamy Sichuan momo, tandoori momo, steamed momo, and the Delhi masala momo. Honestly, this visit was way better. Last time the biggest issue was the sauce, it just wasn't enough and everything felt pretty dry, but this time they really fixed that and the sauces actually showed up, which made a huge difference. Everything tasted solid overall, though it really depends on what you like since the flavors are pretty different across the menu. The momo wrappers are on the thicker side, so if you're someone who prefers a thinner skin, just keep that in mind because that was the case with all the ones I tried. My favorite ended up being the tandoori momo, even though it was a bit salty, the flavor was really good. I usually don't go for butter chicken momo, but that one surprised me, it was actually a hit and everyone at the table liked it. The Delhi masala momo was vegetarian and still packed with flavor, and the creamy Sichuan momo was also pretty good. The place was pretty busy when we went, but the service was quick, so overall this time it felt like a much better experience.

I haven't had vada pav sliders before but the filling is kind of like fried samosa filling without the dough. It's good. The serving size of the biryani was very impressive. You can see from the photo that they fill the container and then add another mound of rice on top of that - basically 2 servings (we took one home). And they didn't skimp on the chicken either! The chicken is cooked perfectly, the sauces are a great complement and this is an excellent dish. The Lunch Thali gives you a lot of bang for your buck and mine included ~5 pieces of fish fry, about the same amount of veg pakora, yogurt dip, chicken curry with rice, 2 different soups, a naan/tortilla thing, and a carrot dessert (like a halwa). All had good flavor and the soups have a nice spicy kick to them. However, since all the dishes for the thali come off the lunch line (ie all premade), the tortilla, fish and pakoras had been sitting out for awhile and not too hot. Had they come out fresh from the fryer, I might have given this experience 5 stars. As it stands, I'll probably be back for lunch anyways - and the thali is available 7 days a week!

I was greeted upon entering the establishment and was assisted by two of the workers. I explained that I was new to the area and not familiar with the menu. The wait time was around 15 mins. The restaurant looked like it is well maintained and the bathroom looked maintained which is nice as they do reflect on any and every establishment. The dining area looked as if they set up for a buffet/family style meals, and there are about 3 tables for outdoor dining. Overall this was a pleasant experience and I'd say that the food was very pleasant in taste and appearance. As my order was ToGo, my expectations would be that the bag would have had plastic ware and napkins. This oversight was a major disappointment and a huge lacking to detail for a new patron and paying customer. I had to use the lids of the rice container as a makeshift spoon. Not very ideal and or it made for a poor dining experience. I'd not return to eat from Nizam's Kitchen 3601 Regent Boulevard Suite 140, Irving, TX, 75036
