We had an incredible lunch here during our tour day which started with a hike at Mt. Field National Park. Eric R. and I did the entire loop which saw three waterfalls (Russell, Horseshoe, and Lady Barron) and worked up an appetite. Given the drive time, our driver/guide had to move our 1:30 PM reservation to 2, and it was still busy so our lunch was pretty late (I had made 6:45 PM dinner reservations which I could not move, oh well)!
Derwent was a nice surprise as we had no information about where we would have lunch on our itinerary. I had a glass of the Derwent sauvignon blanc and ordered myself three of the fresh oysters with shiso and tobiko, which were very refreshing.
I shared with Eric R. and his parents the lamb shoulder, a side of beets, a side of greens, John Dory Italian style with pasta, and miso cauliflower. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. Service was great and the ambiance was very nice. I am really glad we got to try this place because we would never have discovered it on our own, as it is a 25 minute drive from our hotel and not really in the city of Hobart. I recommend it if you like great food and delicious wine! read more
