As a result, I am penalized 20% annually on my Medicare and I get no Social Security payment at all. For the past three years I have been appealing the matter in person, by phone, and by mail but have been totally ignored. I was treated both unfairly and dishonestly. There is a window that opens into the waiting area, where a surly, armed guard glares at people waiting for their turn. The last time I was there, the clerk behind the window asked me for all my personal information in front of a room full of people.....so unprofessional and the perfect setting for identity theft. The office should be shut down in the public interest.

After getting married, I went to the Social Security office to change my name. However, the DMV said they would be unable to change my middle name without a court order even though I was simply moving it from my last to middle which is most common when getting married, and it appears to be allowed according to the DMV website. None the less, the woman wouldn't hear it so I changed my last name and filed a case with Probate to have my middle name changed. I searched online to find out how long that typically takes and what the process is like since there seemed to be 0 information other than a $110 fee and that a court appearance is required. Fortunately, it was a smooth easy process. After paying the fee and providing the appropriate legal documentation, (not a lawyer is not required nor recommended) I went home. I think a week later I got a letter saying my case would be heard in less than a month a date and time was given. Friday afternoon. When I went there that date, there was about 5 others waiting for the same thing. They called us in, and we were each called up to swear in and our requests were all approved with question and the judge was incredibly friendly and helpful. We will given a seal document to take with us. So assuming you are not changing your name for any illegal purposes then the process is a breeze and completed in timely fashion. After watching so many Law and Order marathons was relieved it was such an easy experience.

My vendor driver the day of had arrived 30 minutes late to pick me up, which was already stressful, so I tried to make light of being late in my vows, and he interrupted my vows to chime in and make note of the exact minutes it was late by. It was weird. As if that wasn't enough, minutes after the ceremony ended, he interrupted our few minutes of reflection together that we sought out in the privacy of our home so he could continue to harass and demand payment and the marriage license. On top of this, leading up to our wedding, he forgot our scheduled meeting call, forcing us to squeeze him in the week of the wedding in between family activities. We arrived late to our family dinner because of it. What was most tasteless, is he was bitching to the other vendors. Some who I've known for years. Here is a department with a newly hired police chief, who in my opinion has done an outstanding job in turning the department around and informing the residents of Salisbury for any public safety concerns. Established in town is the Code Red Alert system. You can enroll your telephone number on the department's website. Once enrolled, you will receive a phone call with Chief Fowler's voice on the other end when there is a Public Safety alert. It is a great system that should be used not only by the police department, but also by the Town Manager. The police department consists of highly educated and experienced police officers who are alert, efficient, and respond quickly. If you dial 911, you can expect the Salisbury PD to arrive quickly and react to the situation is a professional manner. They patrol the streets and it is not uncommon to see a police car driving through the neighborhood. The department has the best group of police officers I know.

However, making the weekly trip to the dump is not difficult. They have bins for recycleables, so at least you know that money is not being wasted. The glass bin is always full of beer, liquor, and wine bottles...we know what Brookliners like to do in their relaxation time! :) Apparently, the money they get back on recycling only covers the cost to transport the bin to the recycling plant! Oh well, a penny saved is a penny earned (and hopefully a penny less on my property taxes!) Swap tables are great. I've never took anything from it, but I have dropped off a few things. I always see Maurice taking some of the really nasty items that nobody wants and tossing into the compactor. Some people drop off things that nobody would EVER want, but don't want to pay the money to dispose of them.
