But I decided to write this one because it was an interesting/perplexing experience to me. I had a 50 minute interview session with this therapist. At the end of the interview, we both agreed that we are not a good match to each other. I read some of the good reviews for him before scheduling an appointment, and I can certainly see how this therapist can be helpful to certain patients and I can fully understand why they like him. I was hoping that I would have a good experience with him myself when I scheduled the first session. I have done a lot of deep work before. Everything the other reviewers were talking about and everything this therapist was saying about my patterns in the interview session made sense to me. These comments/suggestions resonated with what I worked on before and what I am looking for in a therapist. I was really hopeful that this therapist would be a good match for me. He has the insight and the analytical mind set, he clearly knows deep issues and wants to help patients to make progress quickly. Part of me was saying to myself: This should work. And yet we didn't connect by the end of the interview session. He was watching me, knowing that there was trauma and painful struggle, but he seemed to expect the patient to open up to him and go deep in the first 50 minutes of an interview session. I didn't get the impression that he got me at the emotional level and was holding the patient in their struggles, that he got the hint that I knew what I was doing and I am very capable of talking openly in therapy, but just not in the first 50 minutes, with someone I hadn't made the connection yet. To me, this was an interview session and I needed to see if there was empathy and connection first before exploring something deep and painful. In fact, I almost got the impression that maybe his emphasis is not so much to heal the patient in the therapeutic relationship dynamic, but rather to provide insight so that the understanding of the issue is reached quickly. His approach can work very well to certain patients, but I have seen other great therapists who provide the same type of insights, deep into childhood or traumatic experiences, making connections to the present pervasive patterns...etc. But in addition to all of that, the other therapists I had good experiences with also had an emphasis in the healing aspect of the therapeutic relationship, so that the patient experiences the interpersonal relationship differently than the bad ones they had in their past. For some reason, this healing aspect of the patient-therapist relationship dynamics was not experienced in my first 50 minutes of an interview session with this therapist.

After so much that was helpful in other areas, it took me completely by surprise that he was so resistant to helping me in this regard (wouldn't even discuss it with me beyond a flat refusal, didn't give me a name of someone else I could consult). I had to sort it all out with all new providers that didn't know me at all. The trust we spent building up over years was instantly vaporized. Five stars for the PTSD work, one star for the gender related issues, average it out to three stars.

The therapist, Mallory Physell, stated that I was not permitted to participate in therapy with my children because I allegedly lacked "clearance" from social services. This claim is completely false, unsupported, and unsubstantiated. No documentation, court order, or agency directive exists that would prohibit my involvement. Ironically, repairing and supporting my relationship with my children is the very reason this therapist was engaged. When I asked Ms. Physell to clarify her statement or provide a reference to a case, policy, or California law that would prevent my participation, she admitted that she did not know and was unable to cite anything. Despite this, she maintained her position and refused to provide further explanation, stating she was "too busy" to address the issue. I found this conduct unprofessional, dismissive, and deeply concerning--especially given the significant impact such statements can have on family relationships. Making unsupported claims about a parent's ability to participate in therapy creates unnecessary division and undermines the therapeutic purpose. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this facility to families seeking collaborative, ethical, and informed therapeutic support.

He is friendly and easy to converse with; just judgemental. He is capable of helping, but you have to take "the good with the bad." The real problem was with the subsequent therapists. What I remember of Lauren is that she yelled a lot; screaming at me as if I was a bad child. Gail was friendly, but I imagined her nagging me to accomplish my goals. I did not stay with her. Jonathan was the worse. He was defensive from the very start. In the first "session," he asked me what my goals for therapy were? I said that I did not know. He responded: "How do you expect me to work with you if you don't have any goals?!?" I had another "therapist" after Jonathan, that wanted to know why I did not work out with Jonathan? That was all she wanted to talk about. That's all she asked, and she was upset, raising her voice and demanding an answer. Over the telephone, I talked with a guy named Crowe, who said that he would not give me another therapist because I've already worked with six of their therapists and did not like any of them. The thing is, he made it sound like I was at fault. 100%. Because of Crowe's self-righteous and condescending attitude, I feel this is a dangerous place. Therapists are not saints. What they do have, though, is a responsibility to the client, which a number of them did not show.

My name was never even in the payment agreement that you drafted for my ex-husband. There was also no loss in court luckily our judge made the right decision for the children. This was an attempted murder case and Family Court gets involved regardless when there are kids involved. Also, the fact that you look at as a winning and losing situation just shows your ineptness for your field of work. You tried to insert yourself with the court hearings in which the court turned you down. Both the D.A's office with criminal court and family court turned you down. You are more concerned about how you look and defending your false position, you manipulate and have no remorse for your behavior with minors. You have no empathy and at times your behavior was very aggressive. You are the true definition of a sociopath. You were too emotionally involved with the perpetrator who tried to murder a family, which leads me to believe that there was a sociopathic tie to this criminal. Regardless, you are a shister, a liar and beyond anything should not be allowed to work in this field. Who knows how many countless families you've screwed up because of your ego and improper ways of practice. I took my children to her because she was the only person open during Covid and it was a court order for reunification counseling. I don't understand how she can even be allowed to work with kids. My children were trying to open up to her about the abuse that they witnessed from the father and she called them liars and as they sat there and cried, she called me to come pick up the kids and was completely unprepared. She has no scope of how to deal with these issues when it comes to minors. She will take the side of whoever is paying her and doesn't take into consideration the welfare or well-being of minor children and special circumstances. The setting of her home is completely unprofessional. I do not recommend her to anyone. She doesn't know how to write letters to the court and instead of being forthright and telling us that this is beyond her scope and understanding she took on our case because of the money. It was detrimental to my children to go to her for sessions and I am thankful it was only a handful of times and not for a prolonged period of time. Please do your research before hiring someone like her, I still am not sure how this state allows her to carry a license for counseling because she Is completely inapt and shouldn't be counseling minors at all!
