Originally it was not a big deal to drive over there but the last two times I went, it took over an hour to go 8.1 miles due to traffic. In one case, I had to reschedule before I was over 15 minutes late even though I had called to let them know. Was able to reschedule and got in the same day. I've been a patient since sometime this summer. My wife found this practice and moved over sometime around the first of the year. Reason she moved is that we are both Seniors and have Medicare Advantage Plans with Dental Benefits. For some reason, we could never get them to bill our Insurance Company. Granted the coverage was not that much but a couple of thousand is a couple of thousand that does not come out of my pocket. Her Dentist is Dr. Allison Kelleher and she loves her and the great service she gets. I have Dr. Andy Pernell and he was the founder of this Service. When I came over, I already knew that I had some major issues related to resorption of tissue under the gums. On the initial examination, Dr. Pernell also that I had a cavity under a bridge under my upper molars. Made an appointment and came back and the bridge was removed, the cavity was filled, and a temporary bridge installed. Went back last week and got the permanent bridge installed. This was the first cavity I've had in over 10 years. I have an appointment in January to address the resorbtion issues on the lower molars. That said he referred me to Dr. Getz at North State Perio and he has examined me and we are schedules for planning and deep cleaning in December.

Amazing staff- great experience. I'm new to the area & went in for a cleaning. While there the…read moredentist identified a small crack which required a crown. We also talked about my night grinding & an in office retainer was built. I had the crown done & I am so thrilled with the easy painless process. This is such a stark difference from the dentist I saw in Maryland. I had never had real dental work done before and at my prior dentist they identified I needed a crown. It was such a traumatizing experience that I was terrified when Summit advised I needed another one done. I also was given a plastic mold at the prior dentist that I had to put in hot water and try to fit myself - It never worked and it made me gag so I just stopped using it. Such a drastic difference between these offices- thank you Summit. My dentist fears are now gone.

My son had 2 appts in the last month. Appt 1 ($300) Hygienist brushed and flossed his teeth (we do…read morethis at home) and took X-rays. After waiting 35 minutes (with a 5 year old) the Dr finally checks on my son. Glances at him, looks at his X-rays. Says he has 2 cavities and leaves. The entire encounter lasting maybe 90 seconds. When we go to leave I went ahead and scheduled an appt to have cavities fixed and was pushed to sign a form allowing the use of laughing gas at that appt (I refused to sign at this point). I did call a week later and spoke with an assistant who actually took the time to talk to me about where his cavities were, what most likely caused them and what the process of repairing them looked like. Appt #2 ($600) receptionist required payment up front even though we didn't know the exact total yet depending on use of laughing gas. We go back, assistant takes xrays, Dr comes in (a different dr than appt 1) and low and behold, no cavities (supposedly there was one on the top and one on the bottom) his teeth are perfectly healthy. Upon checking out I'm told I'm all set....I had to remind them that they owed me my $600 back because they didn't do anything. In between these appts, I'm stressed because my child has to have cavities filled, we aren't taking good enough care of his teeth etc. He's stressed because he has to have cavities filled. The day of the appt the office calls to change appt time (I obliged) so we pulled him out of school early and rearranged work schedules and care for our youngest. Only to be told nothing was there and not even offered an apology. While sharing this experience with others parents and our pediatrician it's clear we should have stayed away from this practice from the beginning. Make sure to advocate for your child and ensure they are not doing unnecessary procedures to get $$.

After a month I start getting the statements from them showing the charges for the X-ray. First statement I got in Jan 2024 and second (last) in Mar 2024. That's when I spoke to someone (don't remember the name) at their office and they waived the charges. Now in Jan 2025 I again got the statement for the same charges. I called again and this time I spoke with Krystin (very rude) and she denied to waive the charges. I am not going back to the place who don't stand on their commitments.

This is after I informed them that I had to be finished at a specific time. I tried making a appointment, specified I needed it between 1130 and 1230. They sent a email saying my appt was at 1030. They just don't listen very well.

This supposed professional Dentist operates without regard to ethics or consideration of patients. As with most, if you miss an appt., you will be required to make payment for time lost. Guess that doesnt apply the other way around. I referred my son, who happens to be single parent of two young children after losing his wife in a wreck, to Dr. Avason. My middle age son has a very tight schedule raising two kids and with his hectic job. He had an appt. but arrived 3 minutes late and was met by a very rude mid twenties male employee asking why are you late? calling him by his last name. My son says either call me by my first name or its Mr. to you young man. I drove through traffic which was heavy at times why? Well Dr. Avason is in surgery and cant see you would you like to reschedule? Or can you be back at 330pm? No my son indicated I had an appt. Which is it...because I'm 3 minutes late or he can see me later due to not scheduling his appts properly? The boy employee was extremely rude and unprofessional. My son rightfully told him just forget it I'll find another dentist with standards. I drove 45 minutes for nothing and dont appreciate it. Dr. Avason also knew full well my son was trying to use some of his dental benefits before the end of the year. Dr. Avason is pathetic and spiteful doing my son this way due to my deciding not to return to his practice after being a patient for several years. Due to his poor work on a tooth along with his arrogance and disrespectful manner speaking to me. Dr. Avason, how about you send my son $50 for you missing your appt which was scheduled weeks in advance? Or be man enough to admit the little stunt was out of pure spite? You're a sad excuse of a human being. I wouldn't recommend anyone to this practice unless you're ok with shoddy treatment by the dentist. Zero excuse for being such a jerk to someone who took time off work after scheduling well in advance.
