Rude and overcharged For unauthorized repairs. Promised 7-10 riding lawnmower repair, many calls and 5 weeks later I finally have my mower back. Customer service is awful, they never called and when I would call to get an update, I was treated as and inconvenience, guy would complain busy snd had other work to do and hung up. This happened several times. The mover was transferred to Gretna, they never called to ask or tell me this and I was overcharged for this service $80 freight charge. They did a tube up as well and never called to ask if I wanted this done either, again over charged snd expected to pay for services I never requested or authorized. Beware. We thought this seemed like a regular friendly family owned business. But then, the guy couldn't fix our 1 year old snow blower. He was about to order parts to "fix" it when we realized he wasn't an authorized repair service for our warranty. We took it to Ace Hardware who is an authorized warranty repairman and they fixed it by simply cleaning the carburetor (something Denny's said they already did and we paid him for as well). No additional parts were actually needed. So we ended up paying twice for the same carburetor cleaning because Denny's didn't do something right. We did call Denny's and ask him to make it right and refund our money, but he refused. Any family owned small business worth its weight knows to keep its customers happy. So go here at your own peril. Or just go down the street to Ace Hardware in Elkhorn where they fix things right the first time without delays and ordering unnecessary parts. read more

Just like the review posted by Darin E. I registered just to post this. I will never go here again, or recommend this place. I took my mower in, and was told it'd be around1.5 weeks. After approx. 2 weeks (on a Monday), called all day with no answer and finally left a message. Next day, called all day again with no answer. Next day, called again half the day and left another voicemail. Finally the next day (Thursday) I just showed up when it'd been around 2.5 weeks. The owner (at least who appeared to be based on the pictures of employees from their website, no one else older works there) was working the counter and was rude and basically made it seem like my fault for "not knowing grass turns green April 1st". I told him I was quoted 1.5 weeks, he said "Yeah, and then 50 more people came in". Why would that matter? I was in first! They hadn't even started working on my mower, so I told him I wanted my mower back and I'll take it someplace else, and he got even ruder. He walked me to their lot of mowers and opened the door where mowers were lined up side-by-side and front-to-back with no walking room and told me "If you can find it you can take it". What kind of service is that? I had to threaten to carry the mower over my head before he started moving mowers out of the way for me in fear of "you breaking your neck and suing me for that". I knew I had my mower, but he obviously needed to check the tag, so he took the tag inside. He went inside and never came back out, so I just loaded up my mower and left. He also blamed their backlog on Bennington Small Engine going out of business, but that is no excuse for misquoted times, not answering their phones or returning voicemails, and the horrid customer service. read more

"Denny's" serviced my mower and snowblower late this fall. (so I thought) The mower had not been used in over 1 year, and this was explained when the units were picked up for service. I requested a total tune up so the mower would be running and ready this spring. The Total bill was over $250 for the mower and snowblower. Both items were returned to me, with a guarantee they were both serviced, tuned up and working great. I went to use the mower this spring, and the mower would not start. I contacted Denny's and explained the situation. I was actually laughed at when I requested the mower be picked up, and re-serviced. My phone number was taken and I never received a call back! The mower received a legitimate tune up (NOT at Denny's). At this time, I learned the only service Denny's did initially, was replace an air filter ($8 part). There was no new gas with "Stabil" (as initially informed), just the old gas, and a dirty carburetor and springs just to name a few of the issues. Once the shroud was removed, it was blatantly obvious that the mower had not been serviced. Service companies are in place for people who have extremely busy schedules, and do not have the time to address these issues themselves. May 23, 2013 review of Denny's Fix-it, 20136 Gate Dancer Street, Elkhorn, NE 68022. Brief synopsis: Denny's Fix-it does not meet their promises regarding time estimates on work. They take in more work than they can handle at the expense of their customers. They are rude and dismissive to customers. Final word: I would not recommend having anything serviced at their shop! More detailed comments: I have a self-propelled lawn mower. Usually every spring I do my own tune up with a kit provided by the manufacturer. I change the oil, spark plug, air filter and put on a sharpened blade. Simple, takes me about an hour and 2 beers. This year I was going to be out of town for a couple of weeks the first part of May. I decided that it would be nice to have the mower ready when I got back to mow the lawn for the first time this season. I decided to give a local business some work. On May 4, 2013 at 9am in the morning I took my mower into Denny's Fix-it and asked for their tune up. I was quoted a price and told the mower would be done in 10 days. They said they would call when it was done. My mower was placed in an uncovered but locked side area along with about a dozen other mowers. I got home and marked May 14 on the calendar for my wife and son to pick up the mower. I was out of town on May 14 and called my wife to see if the mower had been picked up. She said she had called Denny's fix it and was rudely told by an employee, "we told you we would call when it was done"; they then hung up. On May 23 I went to Denny's Fix it to pick up my mower whether it was done or not. When I got there the employee asked me if I was called. I said I was there to pick up the mower whether it was done or not because they had had it for twenty (20) days. The employee went to an uncovered side area and searched for my mower for 10 minutes before he found it. It had not been touched. I noticed that the uncovered side area now had about 30 mowers more than the day I had dropped it off. My mower had been buried by the additional mowers coming in. I told the Denny's fix it employee that I wanted to be upfront and told him that I was going to write a bad review for his business. He retorted that I was stupid for expecting to get back my mower in two weeks this time of year. I asked him if that was the case why did he give me a 10 day turnaround time if he had no intention of honoring it and why did he take in additional business when he could not handle the business he already had. He lamely blamed the closure of the Bennington small engine repair and said maybe I should have brought the mower in around December when they were slow. Needless to say I left with a vow to never do any business with them again. Bottom line, in a community where there are plenty of places to take your service work I would recommend avoiding Denny's Fix-it unless you can do without the item you are seeking to get service for an indeterminate time. By the way, I'm not a complainer. I usually give everyone the benefit of the doubt. This is the first time I have felt compelled to publicly complain. read more

Will not use again. Took my mower in for an annual blade sharpening and tuneup. Was told it would be ready in a week (Thursday). Never got a call so I called on Friday to check on the status and left a message. No one ever answered or called me back. Went into the store after work and was told there were 9 mowers ahead of me and mine would be ready on Monday. Once more, never heard anything so called on Wednesday of following week only to be told there were again 9 mowers (imagine that) in line ahead of me and it should be ready on Saturday (over 2 weeks later than originally told). When I told them I was quoted only a week, employee was rude and said it was a bad estimate (no apology or anything). Went to pick up my mover and took to a reputable dealer. Will NOT use this company again. Can't be trusted to honor commitments and do not answer the phone or return calls. Terrible service! read more
