This is a very nice, modern museum dedicated to the Turkish Navy. It was clearly designed primarily for the display of the multiple Ottoman era caiques (passenger galleys for the Imperial Court.). Those ARE pretty interesting. But apart from that, the rest of the exhibits are a bit sparse. Do find your way up the ramp to the second floor where there is a naval ensign (banner) that was used at the Battle of Lepanto that is pretty cool for the history geeks. And a piece of the chain that the Byzantines stretched across the Golden Horn is in the lower level.
As I said, it is very modern, brightly lit, and the audio guides are quite good. Overall, not one of Istanbul's top attractions, but worth an hour and the modest price of admission (7TL or less than $3.00) read more
