DD participant - project workshop The workshop was held in downtown Davis inside the Historic City Hall which is now a restaurant, Bistro 33. The workshop was conducted by DUI Attorney, Denis White Jr and his law firm. Participants were provided alcoholic drinks of their choice (x5) and conducted breathalyzer per each round. The results were recorded on paper. It didn't take much for some of the participants to go over the limit and be considered DUI. The drinks that were chosen were Moscow Mule, Mint Mojito, Rum & Coke, Blue Moon Beer, and Midori Sour. The five participants were made to guess how drunk they are after each drink and then blow in a breathalyzer to see how drunk they really are. The project was filmed and will be available in YouTube after editing. What a fun group! So much laughter all around. Of course, these things aren't funny in the real world if you drink and drive. Atty Denis gave some interesting scenarios and tips and lessons to the group. Of course, as the participants progress to each drink (they have to complete 5) the group got louder and sometimes boisterous and profanity started bouncing off the walls and you can really tell the effects of the alcohol in each of them. They also had to take a field sobriety tests and not sure how many of them passed. I know my hubby didn't. This certainly was a wake-up call to all of them. Appetizer food was provided and they were all delicious! We all had a great time. Joann and I were designated drivers to our +1's. Sometimes having an insider perspective can mean the difference between spending the night in your own home and staying the night in jail. I was a designated driver for the DUI awareness Yelp event hosted by Denis White at Bistro 33, where 5 test subjects were given 5 rounds of drinks in a 2 hour period and periodically were tested for breath-alcohol levels throughout the period. It was such an eye opener not only for the test subjects but for the crowd watching. Since each subject chose their drink, we were able to see how their drink choice influenced their sobriety. I noticed that the subject who usually has "lighter" drinks was the only one who passed the sobriety tests and stayed within the legal limit. Denis was very informative on DUI law throughout the night, sharing with us the driving violations that cops can pull you over for and subsequently begin the DUI questioning. We watched a YouTube Playlist he created showing each of the 20 some violations and the reason it gives cops to stop you. During the Q&A portion, subjects peppered him with DUI questions (some drunk and irrelevant lol) and Denis answered each one, explaining to the group how it should be applied to Sacramento DUI situations. Overall, it was a great learning experience and really motivated us to consider Lyft and Uber from now on, given the DUI costs we learned about at the event. read more

At this DUI education event, I learned that your tolerance doesn't always get higher as you grow in age! This was a first of its kind Yelp event that focused on education and awareness rather than just products launches or food promotion. The goal of this event was to educate attendees on Sacramento DUI and show a real time depiction of how easily people can unknowingly pass the legal limit, making themselves DUI arrest candidates. Five subjects were given 5 rounds of alcohol each, blowing in the breathalyzer throughout the night (same unit as cops in Sac use). I was test subject #3 and the drink I chose was rum and coke (Denis told us to choose something we normally drink so we can have an accurate picture how things would be on a typical night out) I noticed that while I didn't feel impaired after drink number 3, Denis and several others said I was definitely acting the part. After failing the field sobriety test, I determined that everyone was right. Denis didn't share tips on how drunk drivers can elude the police, so he wasn't out to help drunk drivers keep breaking the law and endangering others. This workshop was held by Attorney, Denis White, who specializes in DUI's. My fiancé and I arrived to Bistro 33 a little after 5:00pm and the workshop began shortly thereafter. The purpose of the workshop was to see how intoxicated someone can get from drinking an alcoholic beverage by taking a breathalyzer test. Basically, the participant drinks their alcoholic beverage, waits 15 minutes, takes a breathalyzer test, drinks another alcoholic beverage, waits 15 minutes, takes another breathalyzer test, and so forth. This was repeated five times, meaning each participant had to drink 5 alcoholic beverages. I was a participant at the workshop and my poison of choice was a Moscow Mule. This was an eye opening experience for me because first of all, I found out that I couldn't even drink 5 alcoholic beverages and secondly, 3 Moscow Mules equates to a .112 BAC for me. Of course this number would be different for others, based on factors like weight and height, but it was helpful for me to see how many drinks it would take for me to fail a sobriety test, which would be 4 since I was so intoxicated I couldn't even go through with a sobriety test. I attended a DUI awareness workshop at Bistro 33 in Davis, CA hosted by DUI Attorney, Denis White. I have never driven under the influence but have wondered, "what if" since one beer or cocktail hardly does anything for me. This was an eye opening experience. I attended this workshop with others, and my review will be based off of my own experience. The goal of this workshop was to drink 5 drinks, then take a breathalyzer test to see what your Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) will be. However, the breathalyzer was administered 15 minutes after finishing your drink of choice. I completely annihilated my first drink. I ordered the Mojito, a rather light drink but it'll creep up on you. I was fine after my first and second drink. My BAC showed that I cannot drive after my second drink. Granted the breathalyzer was administered immediately after I drank and not 15 minutes later (to demonstrate the lingering alcohol in your mouth). After the alcohol settled a bit, my BAC went down, but not by much. After my third drink, I was getting rather loud and used a lot of profanity. After my forth drank, my vision started to get blurry, and I had a problem concentrating. After my fifth drink, I could barely stand straight and almost walked into the women's restroom. In my experience, one drink is all I needed if I were to even think about driving. That is, I would need to sober up for 15 minutes first. If I had two drinks, I should probably request an Uber to be on the safe side. Everybody's body is different, I would say that I'm on the bigger side, mass and muscle wise, versus my fellow participants. The golden rule is to just not drink and drive. I learned a lot from the workshop Denis offered, it was a reality check. You may "think" you can drive after a few drinks, but in reality, you are not! Thanks Denis! I recently took part in a DUI awareness workshop by Denis White's office and learned more about the DUI process that I ever thought. 4 others and I were given 5 rounds of drinks (alcoholic beverages of our choice) to see how our BAC changed as the night progressed. Denis brought the same Preliminary Alcohol Screening (PAS) device (breathalyzer) that local law enforcement uses when testing DUI suspects, so the conditions were as close to real life as possible. Denis was able to answer all of our DUI related questions in a way that we could understand, without using too many technical terms. The most interesting thing I learned is that even if you're under the legal driving limit of .08, you can definitely be impaired enough to get pulled over and charged with V.C. 23152(a) for impaired driving. Thanks to this experiment, I was able to deduce that 2 blue moons and 2 shots is enough to impair me, so I'd never get behind the wheel at that point. Two thumbs up for the legal services of Denis White. While visiting family last December, I unfortunately received my first and only DUI. Since I live in San Diego and work as a full-time loan consultant, it was very difficult for me to find the time to address the vast problems associated with my poor judgement.
