My experience with him is identical to this review. My opinion is that this is truly honest and fair review. Before I copy most important lines of that review, I need to point to the importance of not rushing to sign and pay when Daniel gives you the contract. You had the first free consultation. He already assured you of straightforwardness of your case and that the judge is an honest one. You feel he will win it for you at preliminary hearing without going to trial. The price he gave you is very attractive. You do not expect anything contrary to your first meeting. But please do not rush. The price will change suddenly as was in my case: he may offer you much more expensive "package". The package will include ARD or Trial, which excludes preliminary hearing win for you. Do not expect return of your money once paid to him. Take the paper, go home, and read it with someone who can explain it to you. Do your research online. Ask AI. Being in a waiting room of his office you can see several plaques on the walls saying he is one of the top 10 or top 100 best criminal attorneys for a number of years. This is not a real thing in my opinion. It is the system counting endorsements of attorneys which are outcomes of deals between them. DOJ has nothing to do with it as I found. Pretend there are no plugs. My mistake was I though he really is that good. Here are the most important lines from 2018 review: "Dan is a nice guy... But if you want the one that will fight for you as if his own life was in the line, he is NOT the lawyer for you. If you have a DUI and it's even the 3rd one you get, I am sure Dan can get you out of it and cut a deal for you. He is very good at deals, as he should be because he is best buds with the guys in the DA's Office. That being said, if you think you may have to go to trial, don't hire him. ... Dan isn't a trial attorney and he will do things to get a deal that limits you if you decide the deal they offer isn't fair. My experience is that the WHOLE system in Berks county is corrupt. The prosecution doesn't care about truth and the defense attorneys only care about getting paid. So they work together and sometimes that is a good thing but other times not so good. .... Dan has a way of making you think he is telling the truth, but I caught him in a few lies. ... And if I hadn't have known truth I would have believed him. He is a smooth talker but we all know satan was a smooth talker. So yes, you will read plenty of reviews that says Dan is a great attorney, and maybe he will be for you, I just know if I had it to do over again I wouldn't hire him again. That's the truth. I refuse to get angry at things that I have no control over now, I just wished someone would have been this honest on here for me. Because I did find on other obscure sites people saying how Dan only wants his client to take deals and kind of bashed him, but because of being on an obscure site I didn't put much weight into what they were saying. So beware! Dan is expensive and you don't always get what you pay for. Proceed with caution! That would be my advice! And before you hire anyone, speak with multiple attorneys and do research. I had an attorney so confident that he told me to speak with other attorneys and that he knew I would be back. If I only hadn't hired Dan first and could afford someone else I would have gone back to that attorney. Unfortunately I got a second opinion a little too late. Don't be like me, get multiple opinions and prices before picking an attorney. I wish you the best!" His sister Bethany Emkey is an attorney whom I happen to see in action at the borough council meeting and found very knowledgeable and sincere. I thought they work together, but they are in completely different fields. I felt being manipulated several times which is very painful emotionally. I felt the interactions were almost cold and unfeeling due to being overly task focused and professional. While he effectively completed the process in a timely manner, I personally felt a bit uncomfortable at the seeming lack of compassion demonstrated. The task driven professionalism made an already sensitive time a bit heavier to carry. Opposing counsel informed him from the start they wanted us gone. The close relationship he has with opposing counsel took priority over representing us. (he mentioned it many, many times) I was accused, by them of seeing injuries on my gdaughter and ignoring them. The fact of the matter is I was banned from seeing her because I had called the police to check on her. He did nothing to stop them from repeatedly making this false, slanderous lie. (numerous times to the judge ) They falsified reports which he easily could have disputed by simply requesting records but he refused to do so. An evaluation I had by a doctor contained OVER 3 1/2 DOZEN errors, all of which I can prove. (Eval even said I was violent/suicidal when i have NO history of either) He did absolutely nothing. He filed incorrect motions. He did nothing each time the other side was caught lying. The other side said I was rude to our gdaughter's adoptive parents. And I was. I literally feared saying anything to them, knowing opposing counsel wanted us gone and had stooped to slinging lies and false accusations against us.
