When he was done and they came and got me, I walked in to my son's arms being unstrapped by his wrists to the chair (which I was NOT thrilled about!) The worst part was, after the procedure, my son was still (obviously) very out of it. Dr. Jan requested that we stay in one of the rooms for a bit since my son kept trying to bite his lips. She asked her assistant to check on us every 5 minutes or so to make sure we were doing OK. Then, the tech who worked there wheeled my four-year-old into the office and while I was bending down to pick up a tissue off the floor (so I had my back to him) walked out of the room without telling me. My son was loopy and tried to get out of the wheelchair and stand up , and fell and hit his face/head on the floor!! He was screaming, and I was trying to console him so couldn't leave. No one came and checked on us for 25 minutes. Eventually I had to put my son back in the wheelchair, open the door and ask someone at the desk to have the assistant come in so I can talk with her. When she came in, and I told her what had happened, she just kind of brushed it off. A few minutes later, Dr. Jan came in to check on him, and although she was a little bit more attentive, I do feel she underplayed the situation as well. She asked her assistant to go get him an ice pack, and that was it. The person who let my kid fall out of the chair, never came in to say anything. I don't know how you let a four year-old fall out of a chair and hit his face and think it's OK, but it's NOT OKAY with me and I want other parents to be aware.

I called to confirm the appointment, confirm the insurance, and let them know a different family member would be taking her. My family member showed up with my daughter only to be told they wouldn't see her- again because of insurance. When I called to find out what was going on, I asked to speak to the office manager or the person who handled the insurance, which I know to be a woman. Instead, after some whispering the young man who answered the phone came back on claiming to be said person. I was then told that someone tried to contact me and cancel the appointment but my mailbox was full. There were NO MISSED CALLS of any kind, my voicemail box WAS NOT FULL, and even if that were the case there is a secondary number and email to reach me. Smile Express knew full well their contract with HBCBS would be ending September 1, and my appointment was scheduled for September 2. Their attempt to contact me was on August 29th. This office is full of nothing but disrespectful liars and I pray that no one continues to use them.

Based on a recommendation of a friend, last month, I went to consult with the doctor of this office. She diagnosed that I have a small cavity close to my gum. She advised me that filling the cavity would alleviate the gum pain and prohibit potential root canal down the road. I am very afraid of dental operations and syringes. But she assured me that I would only feel one small pinch. So I went ahead with her recommendation to fill the cavity. I have never had an anesthesia injection as painless as this one. I was recommended to Drs Jacob by a family member, and I couldn't have been happier with the visit. The waiting room is comfortably appointed with amenities, although I didn't get to stay there long, as I was ushered into the procedure room exactly at my appointed time. Dr. Joseph Jacob took the ex rays and pointed out the problem areas that needed addressing right away, and took immediate action when I thought I was just coming in for ex rays, as he found an abscess on a root base on an unsalvageable tooth that needed removing. Now I'm a big guy and resistant to Novocain, but he made sure I was numb and comfortable before working, never rushing and checking in frequently if I winced to see if I needed more Novocain. The procedure was long and complicated, and he took the extra time after the (painless) extraction to remove the infected tissue from the bone, saving the healthy bone matter, then suturing everything to prevent that horrible post-extraction feeling of dry socket. Truly a skilled oral surgeon. His manner all throughout was friendly, professional, and you could tell he knew exactly what needed to be done and had the experience to do it correctly. When in the hands of a healthcare professional it's important to have that level of trust in the competency of the doctor, and Dr Joseph didn't disappoint! My care plan requires future visits, and I'm confident that I'll receive the best care possible from him and his team.
