A major advantage here is its proximity to the city itself. Yet, I don't deem it a bad one. In my occasions to regularly travel yet not a professional airport reviewer by any means, and not a business traveler - but a mainly fun and demands trekker, I have developed as succinct a process for measuring the worthiness of each airport visited. My criteria are: 1) ease of access to and from public or private ground transportation: 4.0; 2) convenient parking when having to leave vehicle or dropping off: 4.0; 3) access and convenience of retrieving and dropping off rental vehicles: 3.5; 4) atmosphere, ambience, public facilities, seating areas and access to communications, charging and Wi-Fi: 3.5; 5) overall human customer service - including but not limited to ticket counter, TSA, Hospitality, Retail, Support Services, Restaurant and Baggage Handler knowledge, communication, attitude and demeanor: 3.0; 6) ease of flight information access throughout facility via signage, boards, screens or clear understandable PA system announcements: 3.5; 7) distance, maneuverability, access and convenience of trekking from gate to gate and/or concourse to concourse for connecting flights: 4.0; 8) quantity, value, convenience, quality and comfort of eateries and/or retailers: 3.0; and last, but not least 9) baggage handling, claims and retrieval location, process and lost and found assistance: 4.5. Taking all the aforementioned categories, I've devised a scale of 1 to 5 with 1 being the worst and 5 being the best an airport can be! This airport rates a: 4.1. Most positive point(s) at this airport are: few and far between, but considering its construction phase, easy to maneuver, clean yet maize like. The most negative points here are: again, the lack of amenities plus. One caveat, while visiting this airport there was a considerable amount of construction in progress, which I am sure affected the overall outcome of my review. I therefore retain a prerogative to reevaluate Ft. Wayne International at a later date.

It was maddening. Somehow I still manage to get to the airport 15 before my flight and there were no gate agents to take my bags. So yeah... I missed my flight. There would not be any other flights from Delta until later at night that I MAY get in on standby. That was unacceptable, so I walked over to the American Airlines desk to book a flight. There was a flight leaving in an hour that would have to connect in Dallas to get to Atlanta, still was not ideal as I was getting in in the afternoon but the trainings were scheduled the next day so it was not a huge inconvenience. The tickets were also higher priced since it was last minute and buying in airport, so yeah they know you need it. This is a fact, I needed to get to Atlanta. I bought the tickets. The gate agent looked frazzled throughout the process as she said not many people she has helped buy tickets at the airport... maybe not this one, it shouldn't be uncommon though ti be nervous about it. This location was convenient for a few hours. The price was reasonable with $15 charge for self-parking. The elevator was clean until you walked out onto the floor, which had a weird smell. The room was decent, but the bed and pillow quality were subpar. The room was very dusty, including the counter, bedside table, and lamp. But it was a quick turnaround for me. In the wee hours of the night, the lobby was my refuge (wonderfully eclectic playlist!) The staff was always professional and courteous. I wish I could remember their names, but props to the delightful young man who checked us in and the bartender who served us and laughed at our Dad-jokes. The next day, while I was going here and there, well after I had checked out, no matter who it was, I was reassured that I was welcome back to get some water, use the restroom, borrow a pen, ask for attraction recommendations etc. I could probably nitpick certain things, but the people - that's what it's all about. That's why I'll be returning to the city, the hotel, the lobby. Knock on wood! :)

The driver finally showed up and proceeds to tell me he just got done dealing with his girlfriend taking her some place because she's on her second DUI and doesn't have a driver's license. So, basically admitting to me why I sat and waited for 1 hour well he conducted a non-business related function. The van smells like burning oil inside and he had to stop twice to add power steering fluid, I have one point becoming unable to actually turn the wheel. He had to be given directions constantly and consistently during the ride to and from, it was a round trip and he couldn't remember how to get back to my pickup spot. I was also quoted a $15 round trip price as I was going less than 2 mi round trip. I noticed the meter was at 1284 and advised him he might want to turn it off at $15 cuz that's what I was quoted he whiplashed the van into the Marathon gas station immediately and began threatening me verbally that he wasn't going to do the ride for the $15 that normally it would be 30. I told him I didn't have $30 and I would never pay $30 to go less than three miles. I felt intimidated I felt like I was being held hostsge. After explain to me why he could not turn off the meter he told me he would do the trip for $20 and turned off the meter. I called the owner to report all this and was informed he's been doing business for 40 years and knows how to run his company and I need my mind my own f****** business. This place is the most unprofessional service I have ever in my life used in all of my 40 years of not driving. I really should have filed a police report for being held hostage and intimidation. These people are absolutely ridiculous, they act like they're doing you a favor.

I needed a 6-passenger vehicle for a family vacation and reserved a minivan online months in advance. We took delivery of a Chrysler Pacifica and soon noticed that the recesses in the floor of the rear passenger area were full of food detritus--jelly beans, Skittles, crushed potato chips--and when we swept with a shop vac we got some of it up but the rest was glued down by spilled beverages. During our trip the AC suddenly stopped blowing cold air. This coincided with one scorcher of a heat wave and we had a most miserable 10-hour drive home in 90-plus degree weather. When I returned the vehicle I informed the desk clerk that she should know that the AC went out on us and should be fixed before renting it out again. We got no apology, no thanks, no offer to make things right. At the very least she could have offered to give us an upgrade on our next rental. This was a missed opportunity for Avis/Budget because we won't be coming back. On one previous occasion I had reserved a full-sized car and they gave me a Nissan Sentra and tried to pass it off as full-sized when I pointed out that it wasn't. So I had to wait an hour while they cleaned up a Chevy Malibu with loose carpet with stuffing falling out of it. I've had better service at Enterprise in the past and that's where I'll be doing business from now on.

It's pretty funny to me that they were ok to take my money but now are not only not giving me what I paid for, they are also holding on to my money for another 5-7 business days.
