Couldn't get a refund out of these people to save my life. Nor could I get them to pay for my rental car. F*ck delta.

I have traveled most of my working life and have NEVER had such poor customer service as we experienced on the 28th with American Airlines. Not only did we miss our trip which had been planned for over six months and was a $10,000 plus investment, there was NO attempt to help us reschedule our trip, get us from Baton Rouge to possibly New Orleans to catch a flight that would get us to Colorado, get us on a flight with another airline, offer a hotel room since the only flight we were offered by the "call back reservation specialist" (which took over an hour) would fly out on Sunday (two day wait) or any kind of acknowledgement of your company's error. I have not been offered any type of compensation or apology for my time wasted and/or the expense of driving to Baton Rouge the previous night and staying in a hotel room, nor even been given an acceptable explanation as to why our flight was delayed multiple times with NO effort by American Airlines to fix their screw-up. As I spoke with other travelers scheduled for the same flight, I realized that many of them were back at the airport for the second or third day as American Airlines apparently does not respect the schedules of its travelers. While trying to find and make alternative arrangement on my own, I listened to the phone call of the American Airlines pilot and his crew request permission to board the plane (which could be seen through the window) for the scheduled flight. He ended this phone call as follows "...so I guess we will just sit here and wait until I get a call back from you...". CLEARLY very poor planning on the part of American Airlines. So I will pass on the $400 in flight vouchers, as I don't want to gamble on the success of my next trip due to the lack of competencies of American Airlines in meeting schedules or valuing their customers. Further, if I can find a phone number of someone in management, I will continue to pass on my total disgust and frustration. Regardless, I will pass on to any bystander willing to listen. In this day and age where a flight is nothing more than a commodity, folks would hope that an airline would differentiate itself with superior customer service and keeping the schedules that it makes. Apparently American Airlines does not appreciate or even value its customers. My daughter will graduate from high-school this year and move on to college. This was my last Christmas with both of my children at home which ended up as a Christmas gift of sitting in a Baton Rouge airport and watching the disappointment in their eyes. This was an opportunity that I will NEVER be able to get back. THANKS FOR NOTHING American Airlines

I would rate it zero or minus three if Yelp allowed it…read more It took three hours to go from a United arrival to a United connecting flight in Newark. It took an hour to get our luggage and the recheck machinery was broken and we had to go up two flights to catch a train to another terminal. The United people then put us in the wrong TSA line. The worst part is we had bought first class tickets to Rome so we did not have to put up with such horrors

Bag was over 50 lbs by "2lbs" and woman said she was going to have to charge my wife 100 dollars. My wife said that she could remove a printer and carry it. She proceeded to quickly make the switch. Suitcase now weighed 48 lbs. Woman turned real rude like she was pissed off that my wife didn't just say and ok and plunk 100 bucks down on the counter. Wife said thank you and left, not understanding why the woman was being that nasty, but feeling that this has to do with a subject she would rather not mention. Then she gets to her destination and her bag, "just her bag" isn't there. She's still waiting. If you are going to have mean, vindictive, racist women behind the counter, do the world a favor and tell your customers to prepare to deal with someone being a complete bitch to a customer. Next time I promise she will be wearing a hidden video recorder to send to management so they can see how their staff is representing them in public. Pathetic, petty, mean and vindictive. United scores a zero minus zero with us at BTR. She should be easy to identify Only "her, a woman" and a man behind the counter at 8:00 am today Sept 29th at 8am. More irony. Next United employee she talked to at her final destination United Counter, and told about the behavior of the woman says, "I'm sorry to say, but, it happens." Really United? Maybe you guys should take some of that profit and invest in a HR recommended program designed to teach your employees how to behave in public. Signed Extremely pissed off Update: 7 pm central time - bag still not there, 5 hours and counting. so she can hop in car and drive 3 hours to her final destination.

If you're looking for Spirit Airlines in the form of a hotel, you're at the right place…read more I've lived in Baton Rouge since Hurricane Katrina before moving to Houston in March 2018, and I've passed The Shades Motel almost daily. I had never thought too much of it; it's an old-school, unassuming, mid-century modern motel along the unofficial Red Light District in the Capital City. For years, I figured it was a makeshift brothel much like a similar...um...deca-flagged inn one mile north (if you're from Baton Rouge, you'll get it). I was completely wrong. The Shades Motel is a nice, quaint, no-frills motel whose footprint is much bigger than you'll see from the street. They have vending, ice and laundry machines, and the rooms clearly had some sort of renovation in recent years. I needed to return to Baton Rouge to surprise a former coworker in the hospital. On a tight budget from a slow month of work, I took a leap of faith and booked with The Shades Motel through Travelocity, where they have a 4.1/5 rating with nine reviews. I already knew where the motel was located, but even for an actual traveler, it's easy to get to because it's on Airline Highway (U.S. 61), the busiest drag in the city. My room was $55 for the night, $63 including taxes, etc., with check-in/check-out being 11 a.m. My transaction with the older Indian man at the desk was easy-peasy, and I proceeded to my room in the middle of the complex with my key and my belongings. Again, this is a motel, so each room, for all intents and purposes, has its own parking. My single king room was clean, smelled great and was equipped with local Cox cable, WiFi with the password was on the back of the TV remote, a sofa, a desk and *especially* a microwave and fridge. I am a huge germaphobe--possibly OCD--and I felt clean and safe enough to go barefoot in the room and in the shower. Naturally, the clientele weren't among the 1%, but they weren't anyone I felt threatened by at all, either. The bed was about what you'd expect from a no-frills motel--comfortable enough--and there was no shortage of towels. There was even the requisite Holy Bible in one of the nightstands. It was a great place to stuff my face, lay my head and commiserate about my life while bitterly watching my former coworkers at the local NBC/Fox affiliate... A little more about the location, The Shades Motel is located in the geographic heart of the Red Stick (Baton Rouge), just north of Florida Blvd./U.S. 190 and Airline Highway/U.S. 61. Sans traffic, you're about 20 minutes from Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport, 20 minutes from the sprawling Mall of Louisiana, 20 minutes from downtown and the museums, and just over 10 minutes from Mid City, a large district home to great shopping, antiques and dining. But if you're into abandoned places as I am, you're walking distance from Cortana Mall. Formerly The Mall at Cortana, it was once a booming complex as recently as the late 2000s, now empty with locals walking about, pointing out which stores used to be where. I worked there at Aeropostale during the 2008 holiday season, and even did some shopping at Macy's before they closed in 2016. As uncanny as it sounds, the vacant Cortana Mall is definitely an attraction, but it's also worthy of a rebirth. Either way, you can still grab some deals at the Dillard's Clearance Center, one of the three remaining tenants and the only remaining retailer, or find a few other things at the stores along the perimeter. After a night of rest and reminiscing, I checked out promptly at 11 a.m. completely satisfied. This motel is conveniently located and included everything I needed, all while giving me a sense of safety and cleanliness at the right price. For my eventual next visit to Baton Rouge, I will definitely be checking in at The Shades Motel. Who knows? I might snatch up the Jacuzzi room. Just make sure to grab some Chinese at Gold Bowl down the street, my review here on Yelp. You're welcome.
