We had just gotten into Terceira and were famished and although this isn't close to the airport, it wasn't a far drive so we decided to try it out. Oh, it also happened to be open which was a plus. Pulling into the parking lot we were immediately taken aback by how futuristic and sheek the design of the building was. It looks like a spaceship. We walked in and went up the stairs and were quickly seated next to these giant windows which overlooked the countryside. It truly was picturesque. Even though it was crowded, we were helped quickly, I believe by the manager, who helped us make our decisions. We ordered the sangria and the manager asked if we liked it sweeter or drier to which we replied sweeter. Let me tell you, this was the best sangria we've ever had. It was sweet without being overly sweet and had different fruit than your typical oranges and strawberries. It had those but also blueberries and red currants which popped with flavor as you bit them. For appetizers we got the octopus salad and were feeling a bit adventurous so we also ordered the barnacles. The octopus salad was cold and olive oily and was very tasty, especially with the bread that was served. The barnacles come attached to a rock in a grouping, we got 5 on ours and for .85 Euro/barnacle, they were not pricey. They came presented on a bed of sea salt with a small fork to grab into the shells and pluck the meat out. These were very surprising and had a salty flavor like the ocean and I was very glad I tried them! Try them if you're nervous! For our main dishes my mother got grouper with a large prawn and a side salad. She said it was delicious. The salad, like I have noticed all over the islands, is just raw vegetables that come with vinegar and olive oil on the side, no dressing on the actual salad. It is odd at first but it works as a nice palate cleanser, especially between flavorful and heavy bites of your entree. I ordered fried triggerfish (another fish I had never tried), served with lemon risotto and arugula. My dish was amazing. It was fried to perfection and everything went so well together, also the portion was huge! We were unfortunately too full for dessert and we wish we would've come back here but we were only on the island for two days so it was not really possible. Come here and love it; it truly is a gem!

They have an English menu but there aren't descriptions of what you're ordering so a google search can give you an idea of what the dish might be. This was the first location while visiting that our server didn't speak English, but he thoughtfully grabbed a customer who did to help us with the basics. Water is bottled and must be ordered. The large bottle is enough for a group and they'll ask you if you want it natural (room temperature) or cold. Bread and butter are also an item that you are charged for but are well worth the small charge. I ordered the chicken gizzards and the garlic beef. If you're squeamish about eating gizzards, get over it. These were magnificent, exceptionally tender, and perfectly seasoned (pairing perfectly with some bread to sop up the sauce). It's enough for two so feel free to share. I also got the garlic beef which is a garlic fans dream. It's a local beef steak thinly cut, covered in garlic and served with French fries and salad (a traditional accompaniment that seems odd but works). The perfect bite is a little bit of everything. You'll be happy. A great little spot that is a perfect local lunch And it's pretty cheap.

Even though it was a tiny place, they had a room that was able to seat all of us on a long bench like table. We came here based on other friends' recommendations of their house burger. Many of us got the house burgers and they were delicious. Really juicy meat and great toppings and all for something like 4 euros. Other people got the house soup and it was a traditional Terceira soup they were serving that day. Very flavorful and really hit the soul. I got the Salmon salad and though it sounds boring compared to the other things my friends got, I absolutely loved it. The smoked salmon was really great and they give you so much! The salad was really filling and satisfying. I have to say the best part of the meal was the hot cocoa. This was not a cocoa I have ever tasted. my friend got it first and after trying hers, I knew I had to get my own. The cocoa was rich in flavor and so so thick. It was almost like melted chocolate but not that heavy. They steamed the milk and it became creamy and rich and I feel like that only happens with fresh milk. The whipped cream on top just made it go over the top with flavor and deliciousness. I did not find it toothachingly sweet but just the right amount of sweetness that makes you keep wanting to come back for another snip. I seriously would come here just for their hot cocoa. Very cool decor and the ladies running this place know their patrons and are easy going - something I think others may find dismissive. European restaurants in my experience generally don't bring a check unless you ask, don't seat you unless you have a reservation (seat yourself), and if you want something you just simply ask them. Some of the nicest people are on the island of Terceira - based on my trip here - and the staff here was no different.
