Right off the cobblestone streets with decor that takes you back to the mid 1900s, however, everything is clean and meticulously well kept. A must try if you are stopping in Maysville for the day. Hand patted hamburger was 10/10 - best I've had in a while. Fried pickles were okay, but I've had better - breading too thick for my taste, nothing special about the flavor. Next time I'll try the breakfast - I watched the chef making pancakes as big as a medium pizza and waffles that looked incredible. Service was quick and polite despite being super busy.

Spent the day in Maysville just walking and shopping and decided to eat lunch at this local diner. What a gem. First of all everyone knows everybody and they were very welcoming to the three of us. Diner food at its perfection. I got the delite burger and onion rings. I ate every bite. My friends were very happy too. It was a great end to a very happy day. If in Maysville definitely stop in

Super cute diner feel. Very relaxed as we seated ourselves on a Saturday afternoon. Greeted and served quickly! Menu options included burgers, gyros and onion rings. Enjoyed the chicken bacon ranch gyro, lamb gyro and onion rings to share! Maysville is adorable to shop around in and will be back for another meal!

Gyro is a left over menu kept item from the prior establishment that has tender lamb and is enjoyable. All sides are extra. Vibe is 50's and bench seating is uncomfortable for anyone over 50. They have countertop stools which are fun to sit in and watch the activity on the working side. Friendly staff. Service was fast.

It was the food we ordered that lacked. Maybe we just made poor choices. As we ordered, we saw many hamburgers come out of the kitchen, and they looked really delicious. We were hoping to find a little healthier fare, though, so even though we were tempted by the burgers and the overwhelmingly positive yelp reviews for the gyros, we went with other items from their menu. Hubby tried a new menu item, which was a chicken salad gyro. He said that the idea and the flavor was fine, but the chicken was really dry. It was not that it lacked sauce, but just that the chicken itself had been overcooked or held warming too long. I went with what they had labeled as a Greek dinner. The description on the menu chalkboard described sautéed onions and peppers along with some rice, pita and choice of meat. I guess I had kind of envisioned a platter with all of those items which could be put together in different combinations, with some colorful crisp veggies like we have had at other Greek/Mediterranean restaurants. When my food came out and I saw it for the first time, I actually said "No, that's not what I ordered." I found out, though, that it is indeed what I ordered, but not what I visualized. It was a bowl with rice at the base. The rice was totally covered by kind of a stewed onion mixture that was a brownish gray. It was entirely covering all of the rice and pieces of gyro meat. It was more like a bowl of stew or thickened French onion soup. The onions no longer had any texture to them as they were totally cooked down. Pretty much just all onions. If there had been peppers in there, I could not recognize any. Maybe they had also been cooked so much that they were unrecognizable. OK, I can eat rice with some stewed onions and bits of meat, so I just dug in. Everything was just all mixed together in one note. There was nothing that was a different flavor or texture in the concoction. It was also kind of unappealing sour, maybe lemon or vinegar? It was OK for the first few bites and I could get through it, but I really was pretty done with it halfway through. The pita slices on the side, were pretty good, but not really what I hoped would be the highlight of the meal. If we come back again, I think we should stick to a burger or gyro.

Executive Summary…read more Gyro King has the potential to be a standout downtown option, with a spacious and inviting setup, generous portions, and friendly service. But my visit on a Saturday afternoon left me underwhelmed. The flavors hinted at quality, yet the execution and pricing missed the mark. My gyro combo with chips and a drink totaled $16.44--by far the most expensive meal I had during several days in town--and the soggy, warmed-over meat made the price sting even more. This is a place I'd be willing to try again during a busier time when the kitchen is moving quickly, but based on my experience, value and consistency need real improvement before Gyro King earns a higher spot on my downtown list. Full Review Location & Atmosphere Gyro King benefits from a great downtown location, adjacent to the market but operating as its own restaurant with a connecting doorway. That setup gives you shared market restrooms but still allows Gyro King to have its own space and vibe. Inside, the room is clean and appealing--long counter seating along one wall, tables down the middle, and classic tin-style ceiling panels that add character. It's bright, airy, and big enough to handle either a quick solo stop or a sit-down with friends. Parking downtown is another story. On a Saturday afternoon with a home football game nearby, both street parking and the lot out back were a challenge. That said, once inside, the restaurant was empty and I was greeted almost immediately by the gentleman working, who even stepped out to check on me as I paused at the side door. Service Friendly, quick, and attentive. Ordering was simple, and I appreciated the proactive greeting--it makes a difference when you walk into an empty dining room. Food I ordered the Original Gyro ($8) with chips and a drink, which brought my total to $16.44. For a gyro and chips, that's steep--easily the most expensive meal I had over several days in town. And while the serving size was generous (so big the box lid barely closed), the value just didn't match the quality. The bread, veggies, and sauce were fine--exactly what you'd expect. The meat, though, was the disappointment. It had good flavor, maybe even something house-prepared, but it had been sitting in a warmer too long. Instead of those crispy, caramelized edges that make gyro meat shine, it was soggy and soft. The taste hinted at greatness, but the execution let it down. When you're paying a premium, that gap matters. Overall Impression Gyro King checks a lot of boxes: strong location, clean and stylish dining space, attentive service, and portions that impress. But the pricing and execution are off. For $16+, I expect a gyro that delivers on texture as well as taste. Maybe during peak lunch or dinner hours when turnover is high, the food is excellent--but on a slower afternoon, it was underwhelming and overpriced. Would I return? Probably--but only at a busier time when I know the meat won't be languishing in a warmer. As it stands, Gyro King is a place with promise, but they're missing the mark for value.

The staff was quick and beyond generous and friendly. I appreciated the fact that they had a spicy harissa sauce too because not every Greek place has spicy sauce. I am eager to try that sauce.
