I recently bought a house in the area and wanted to fix up the deck and stairs that were outdated. I began speaking with Ron and his team who were able to come out and look at the deck within the same week. Ron gave me a thorough explanation on what he believed should be done and even provided me with photos, a detailed explanation and a PowerPoint showing me the steps to fix the deck and stairs. Would not recommend. Owner recommends his competitor. Stated they are not accepting any new work until mid 2021. They repaired my deck a few years ago. They have been repairing two of my neighbors decks for the last few weeks. They left an open deck on a hillside without a barrier or warning tape. They removed the gate on my adjacent property without notifying me which allowed direct access to hillside deck with no railing for four days while they went to another job. I was out of town. Attached is a photo of what I found when I got home. This is how the DeckTech team left the job site. If a neighborhood child went through that gate and fell off my neighbor's deck it could have been disasterous. I asked them serveral times to reinspect my deck which is required for warranty. He delayed me for two weeks stating each time he would be out the following week. I received an email this morning stating I should go to his competetor. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE . I've been a customer for more than 20 years . I've had and been paying for a maintenance agree to maintain my front patio deck . This year I was notified that my annual inspection and maintenance would be scheduled for Nov 28 and Nov 30 . His crews arrived bright and early on Nov 28 . To clean and inspect . However nobody came back as scheduled on the 30th . I HAD TO CONTACT THEM asking why they never showed and why a courtesy call was not made . Asking him to CALL ME . An email reply from him indicated his crews got busy preparing projects for possible rain . His EMAIL indicted they be out on Friday bot the following Monday . I explained that I cleared off the deck which is on the second floor and all that stuff was in our living room . And we had weekend plans . He replied via email to be out on Monday . Numerous times asking for him to CALL ME . HE NEVER DID CALL ME . Soooo here we are on Monday . NOBODY CAME BY .. NOBODY CALLED . At 4pm today I had to call his office and leave a voice message wondering what happened . Asking that he CALL ME to come up with a new plan . We cannot say enough positive things about how Ron and his crew replaced our roof top deck. From the initial inspection to the finished product, the communication and the workmanship were stellar. Ron put us at ease by explaining the entire process from start to finish. All the employees are true craftsman who take pride in their work. Saul kept in touch with us on a regular basis to let us know how the work was progressing. Frequent photos and videos were provided to keep us informed. We engaged DeckTech to inspect our decking and porch stairs at our newly purchased home in Pismo Beach. The builder had recommended DeckTech for future maintenance, and I can see why. At five years in, we needed an inspection, cleaning and a new color seal. Both were performed timely and professionally! My original relationship with Ron McKenna and DeckTech years ago went well and they went the second mile to help me resurface my deck. The maintenance went well until this last year. I had a leak last January and had a hard time getting them out to patch it. I found the source myself and did a temporary patch. Saul Prado, his maintenance man, eventually came and did his version of a patch, which leaked and I again had to alter. He promised to return when weather was better to permanently fix the spot. Multiple calls to Saul and texts to Ron did not resolve the problem. Saul simply did not respond to anything. Ron said the manufacturer was not responsible and that I had cancelled the maintenance, which I did not. He also said Saul was quitting at the end of year. My only contract was with Ron, not Saul. I considered Ron's responses to be rude and and a bailout for him. I'm guessing the pandemic has had a negative effect on his business and he's just dumping accounts as he likes. I would definitely NOT recommend DeckTeck now. read more

In constructing our building, Valentina Suites, built in 2008, the tiled decks and corridors were a priority, as they required great attention to detail in making sure they were completely waterproofed and of the highest quality. We chose Decktech for a reason - they're the best. Over 8 years later, the decks are in outstanding condition. The state-of-the-art technology that they used on this job was top notch. We has difficult deck problem involving dry rot. It required rebuildiing parts of it. The final result was just what we wanted. The follow up on an unexpected problem was right on. There was never a question about Decktech's warranty. The workers are all good to work with and clean up was perfect every day. We give the company an A+. We used DeckTech to redo our decks and flat roofs at our condo complex. They did an excellent job of diagnosing our deck problems, making the necessary repairs and finishing with the coatings on the decks and roofs. The work was started on time, but dragged over a few days due to staffing levels. Ron was very responsive and they did a really good job. I'd recommend them to anyone else with flat roofs or decks that require a coating to be watertight. They should also be listed in roofing, in addition to decks. With all the wet weather, its been a relief to know our roofs and decks are watertight. read more

Our HOA needed to replace two full deck assemblies and remediate water damage to structural and architectural beams. We received bids from several sources and ultimately selected DeckTech, Inc for their detailed onsite inspection and estimate. Their project proposal included photos of problem areas with recommendations and detailed quotes, which allowed us to easily demonstrate the project needs to HOA board members and owners. Ron McKenna, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable, personable, and with his nearly immediate response-time, you'd think he never sleeps! Ron kept our HOA updated with project timelines and was ever-available to answer questions. Ron even followed up the completion of the project with his own post-project inspection of DeckTech's work, took a video of each area with descriptions of the work completed, and emailed them to our HOA for review. I normally don't leave reviews unless the service or product I use is terrible. But, I have to praise the job DeckTech did resurfacing the front deck at my beach house rental. They cleaned up every day and finished the job when promised. I even had renters staying at the home while work was being performed and they didn't even notice. I had multiple bids and they were within the average price as I never go with the most expensive or cheapest bid when hiring contractors. I also make sure they have a Contractors License that is up to date and no judgements against them. You can find this information at http://www.cslb.ca.gov. Just the right company for my job, which was to repair the leaky deck of my balcony.
