My child also said he had no fun because there are so many rules especially during winter. I would recommend Edgewood campus or Queen of Peace than this school. This is just a warning to all you other parents out there considering this school. Trust me

Its a UW hall, nothing special. Offices on upper floors (East Asian Languages, for example),…read moreclassrooms on floors 1-5. For the lifts you need a key or activated wiscard to get to floors one through five from the ground floor; waits are long between classes. So to get to floor 5 one must take the lift to the sixth floor, go down the hall and back down a flight of stairs, more if going to floor 4, etc. Messed up huh? On the third floor they took out some vending machines and the microwave. I miss being able to get white castles and milk or choco tacos before class. They need a printer in the lobby, and an ATM; but there is a UPS box for what its worth. The benches in the lobby and halls need cushions; it can be hard to get around the building if you're not familiar with its layout or aren't very mobile. There's the LSS language lab on the second floor, and tech centre on the fourth floor- convenient for homework making. The bathrooms only use those hot air blow dryers that don't work. They need to get some towels IMHO. Parking is a real hassle; there's an underground garage if you have a permit but there's no room. The nearest handicapped/any spots are two blocks away and usually taken. So come and enjoy fantastic Van Hise hall. If you're taking a language or various other course at UW, you probably have to anyway. Oh, the view from floor 14, or any top floor is awesome.

There's an art party (holla, holla)…read more It's really a simple formula, but it works for me as a parent. Drop child off at Art Party Place. Pick up said child three hours later. Child comes home happy and with a pile of craft projects. Rinse and repeat for one week. Owner Susan Gardner used to hold craft camp each summer at her home in Waunakee. I heard about craft camp last summer from a neighbor and signed my daughter up, not knowing what to expect. My daughter had a blast and the price was very reasonable. A win-win! Fast forward to the summer of 2013 when Susan opened Art Party Place in a nearby office park. It's a fun little shop full of cool crafting supplies (that's what my daughter tells me, and she's the expert when it comes to crafting). You can enroll your child for a half day (three hour) or a full day (six hour) session. Each day has a different theme with different projects. I've watched Susan in action at craft camp and she is energetic and engaging. The camp participants definitely seem to enjoy themselves. So if you live in the Waunakee area and are looking for a kid-friendly activity, consider Art Party Place.

Visited the University of Wisconsin Law School today on the main campus in Madison, Wisconsin. The…read morefacilities are very nice...there used to be two separate buildings for the Law School but in the late 1990s the school built a four story connection between the two making it one huge building...it houses all the administrative offices, faculty offices, the Law Library and all the classrooms and courtrooms. The Law School facilities are nice and modern and they have tons of room. The Law School is located on Bascom Mall in the old part of the university grounds...but very close (walking distance) to the Memorial Library and the Union. One of the Law School buildings houses the majority of the classrooms - many of which are laid out like traditional rectangles, others in the pie-wedge shape...all seem to have up-to-date technology keeping students plugged in. The lecture and seminar rooms were very nice and on the newish side. The moot courtroom and other specialty rooms were also very nice...the Moot Courtroom especially so. It is obvious the Law School is reinvesting in its property. The other main law building contains most of the administrative offices, clinics, and faculty offices. There is a nice little coffee shop on the lower level of the connecting building but it was not open when we visited and is probably only operating when classes are in session. The law library takes up two to three floors...depending on how you count. A portion of the library is housed in the new 4-story connecting edifice which joins the two original buildings. The main reading room is on the top floor. The library stacks are on a couple of floors...but in both of the old buildings so you cross over and back often. And since the two buildings are not on the same level...you walk up or down a half flight of stairs each time...that is why it is hard to pin down how many floors. It can be confusing which library floor you are on at first, but it becomes obvious pretty quickly. Nicely laid out library, and a number of smaller reading rooms are included besides the newish main one. The main reading room is laid out with a series of large tables with lamps...there are a number of cushy chairs at the end of the room which has an entire wall of glass facing Bascom Mall...neat view. There are carrels spread around the other library floors, some locking and some not. It does not appear there are enough carrels for each student...hence the reading rooms. This yields a lot of seating spread out around the library. Wisconsin's Law School is well-ranked in the top-50 tier of schools and the faculty is well regarded. Being located in the capital city of Madison, the school has the benefit of experienced lawyers coming in as adjuncts and job/internship opportunities for students. We were out looking at law schools and stopped by for a visit...even though we showed up unannounced they had someone in the Admissions Office who provided us with a self-guided tour brochure...nice touch. It just showed a welcoming attitude, and a school that is not resting on its laurels. A good choice for a top-50 law school just 2 1/2 hours from Chicago.
