I parked in the Lovejoy Building lot managed by Deering Management Group in April of 2014 and had a terrible parking experience. It was Sunday, there were no other cars, and I was at a professional conference I'd been invited to by a friend. I'd been on my feet all day and was exhausted, and left my car in the lot just a tiny bit longer than expected. There were no other cars in the lot, and basically all the street parking spots were empty since it was a Sunday night. However, of course, they gave me a $39 ticket. Which I set inside the driver door of my car, I was very tired and one of my parents had recently passed away in traumatic circumstances, so I wasn't willing to think about a parking ticket as I was leaving the event. Of course, they then send a handful of threatening letters to me and raised the total to $89 and threatened to send me to collections. Amazing. All in all, a horrible experience. Parking structures in Portland (and most cities) are a racket run by profit-hungry leeches. This one's no exception. read more
