I normally do not leave negative reviews, but I felt compelled to leave a review after my experience with this outfit. We arrived for a 3-day hunt on 11/21/25. I was told that we could each harvest a doe, a buck and as many hogs as we wanted if we wanted to keep them. Upon arrival, we noticed that the lodge we were staying at was unkept. It appeared that no one had been there in quite some time. We chocked that up to weather etc. and let it go and helped out. The meals were ok but not what was mentioned prior to the trip. Our first morning was unsuccessful for all 12 men and 4 kids that were hunting the property. I asked when we could harvest our does and we were made to wait. Couldn't shoot does on their "green patches" nor on any hunt the first two days. The vehicle we were in had no taillights, no brakes and the guide drove us into and out of the hunting area so fast we felt like we were in a baja race. Our rifles were bouncing around all over the place. We were dropped off and pointed in a direction in the dark. The "box stands" are wrapped in metal and no insulators inside the stand to prevent noise. Any movement makes tremendous sounds from the stand. My cousin and I among others got the impression that they are selling an "idea" of hunting and making it hard to harvest any deer if not impossible. We are hunters and just wanted to go on a guided trip that seemed affordable for the regular working guy. The "feeding" procedures there are terrible for the hunting areas. My first morning after daylight I noticed corn at the foot of the stand and scattered out about 25yds from the stand. It looked faded and no deer sign around it at all. There are feeders on the property but doesn't appear to be used. We ended up leaving our third morning after not being allowed to shoot anything. We paid 3000 plus our licenses and never received an apology or anything from Pete Hans and no one killed a single deer out of 12 hunters in 3 days. We will not return to this place, and I would advise anyone that is considering Deep South Hunting Camps to be advised. This is NOT the place to spend your hard-earned money. I recently had a highly disappointing experience with Deep South Hunting, and I feel compelled to share the details for the benefit of others considering their services. After arriving, I asked Pete how frequently they see hogs, and he informed me that they hadn't seen any in years. It's unclear why they continue to advertise hog hunting if they no longer have any on their property. The meals were another letdown. On the first night, we were served Chilli dogs with no side dishes. The next morning, breakfast consisted of eggs, bacon, and biscuits. For dinner, we had fried chicken, rice, and sausage. On the last morning, there was no breakfast. The final night's dinner consisted of cheeseburgers, but without any toppings, lettuce, or sides. When I asked Pete why we didn't get a dessert as mentioned on the website, he informed me that desserts were only offered on a limited basis. At no point did our meals resemble the descriptions or photos found on their website. The hunting vehicles were in poor condition, with excessive shaking that made me question whether my rifle was still properly sighted in. They were also extremely dirty, covered in a mix of blood and dirt. On the night before our hunt, Pete called to suggest we reschedule due to weather concerns. However, we were unable to change our plans, so we decided to proceed. He reassured us that we would have great food and a fun time. Pete also mentioned that the cabin was winterized, and though the property was too wet to access, there was an alternative area for us to hunt and stay. However, after our first hunt, I noticed that the ground was dry, and I questioned Pete about why we weren't hunting the actual property. His response was that he wanted to give us the best chance to be successful, though it didn't seem to justify the situation. We were limited to four hunting stands, none of which were on the advertised 7,000 acres. A visit to the actual camp revealed that it was not winterized as Pete had claimed, and there were other hunters present. It became clear that we had been placed on subpar land with minimal deer activity. The only deer I personally saw were on neighboring properties as I drove around. In all my years of guided hunting, this was by far the worst experience I've encountered. Pete offered to have us return next year at a significantly reduced rate, but after reading other reviews mentioning similar issues--including Pete's failure to return calls--we decided it was best to cut our losses. The photos of previously killed deer that Pete showed us appeared to be from another state entirely, and I noticed that his current camp lacked the "Deep South Hunting" sign that was visible in the photos. I strongly recommend avoiding this outfitter. What was promised on the website and in conversations with Pete did not match the reality of the experience. If you value your time, money, and hunting experience, look elsewhere. read more

Looked forward to hunting was told 1 Buck, 1 Doe and 1 pig were allowed prior to arrival. After arrival was told does only allowed at certain areas/times and pigs were scarce. Lodging, Food and service were excellent, saw a doe first morning but nothing else on three-day hunt. Spent around 3k for travel, hunt and 275 for license. Area is large, thick and seems over hunted but that's my own opinion Overall was nice experience, crew did their best even though the animals did not cooperate. They did provide transportation and made sure you found your stand. Would not have left review but since the guide send a group text calling me a chicken F@cker for not tipping I felt my due diligence was to share my experience. Three day hunt 1 deer sighting and being called a chicken F@cker leaves me a little sour. Not sure if I was required to leave a tip but nothing in the provide contract stated anything about tips. read more

After talking to Pete, 2 of us booked a 2022 KY archery rut hunt. It turned out that the hunt wasn't what he advertised. The transportation to and from the stand was my truck. Joe, the guide, took us to a field and said to park here. Told me to walk this trail to a stand that was marked with orange tape. He told me that the last guy he sent there couldn't find it and had gotten lost. I walked past the small piece of tape and didn't find it either on the first morning. The baiting was a handful of corn thrown on the trail. The continental breakfast was a pot of coffee that was prepared the night before. No lunch. Joe told us that any game harvested was our responsibility. We were so disgusted that we left the morning of the 3rd day. On the way home, we called Pete and relayed our disappointment with the hunt. During our conversation, Pete "offered to make it up to us" with a hunt in AL or GA on him for 2023. After many phone calls, we booked a hunt in GA for a November hunt. The last time I called him to confirm our schedule 6 weeks before the hunt, he said he was swamped at the moment, and he would call me back in 20 minutes. Needless to say, I never received the call. He won't answer either of our phone calls. Won't answer my texts. He sounded like an honest and sincere person. Apparently, we weren't the only ones that Pete hadn't provided what he advertised. The terrible hunt was one thing, but to deceive us for almost 11 months is just wrong. read more
