A charming little Venue and one that I actually did "stumble across"
I haven't been here for a while, as last time was during the Northcote
High street festival. Deco has a great little courtyard out the back, which
is charming, and rather chilled-out.
As is a common way for things with me, I was inconsistent in beverage
choice, jumping from one thing to another. Chiefly, exploring a great
range of dark beers; including the "Hitachino" Nest beers. These are
magnificent Japanese craft brews of superior skill.
More so to my changing order, the bar tender went above and beyond
the call not only to make us feel welcomed, but to predict, serve and
bring out the next drink to me. I left the choices to him, and wasn't
disappointed. I also remember ploughing into a pizza and thoroughly
enjoying it.
Live music is often seen, and on Sundays from five pm, you'll usually
get a performance of some kind. Usually somewhere in the regions of
Acoustic singers or jazz. The time I was here, there was a cat that
seemed to be playing a magical game of hide and seek amongst the
vines on the back wall.
It was like something out of Alice and wonderland:
a cat leapt into a wall, landed on a little perch and the then continued
to climb in the vines- up a little passage way until it was over the wall
anddisappeared. The games cats play! Oh and this bar has good food
too. A cool, casual, intimate, no fuss, and chilled out little spot just off
St Georges Road. read more
