Had a GREAT experience working with Deck Solutions this past summer, so I am perplexed as to the former reviews on YELP when other websites said otherwise. We were glad we used their services for our deck this summer and we were completely thrilled with the finished product! We had excellent communications and service from the get go--Dan came out and gave us a very fair estimate; he knew his trade and gave us a variety of options-not pushy either. Molly in the office was terrific in communicating all along the way; from the start dates, to rescheduling (due to rain--wanted to make sure our solid color stain would adhere!) as well as texting us in advance to let us know when their guys would be out! Both their service and techs were professional and considerate; they were meticulous when painting around our wrought iron spindles, which was VERY important to us--and they cleaned up well too! Our deck went from pathetically peeling to looking brand new! Very pleased and you will be too! read more

After posting this, they came back to my house this past weekend. Completely different painters from the first time. The worker again was extremely nice, and flat out said that the first crew did a very poor job with the deck. He fixed all the paint areas that my husband pointed out and even some that we hadn't noticed were there. He also left us a water bottle full of paint to make touch ups if we felt it needed. Today they called to see if we were not happy and ready to pay the other 50% of our bill. Moral of the story: Very nice people but their customer service sucks. They lack communication with their customers. read more

Can't seem to get this company to call me back with an estimate. I've left 3 voice mail messages and a message w/office staff & no return call or even an email response. Owner came out to measure & take notes on my job almost 2 weeks ago. He indicated already an 8 week wait time, but if I have to wait weeks just for the repair quote how much time for the actual repair/work.....Novemeber?? I'd like to use my deck this season!! I'd say move on...if company is just too busy to return calls & give quotes than what are they going to be like if you should have a problem with their workmanship or warranty issue? I want to hire & work with a company that values ALL of their customers. Not just the ones paying big $$ for a custom project. read more

This review is long overdue, but necessary. Chris and Ian at Deck Solutions were absolutely fantastic to work with. First of all, I spent two years trying to find a decking company willing to take on my unusual back deck that consisted of a concrete pad, stone pillars, and rotting wood railing and handrails. In exasperation, I reached out to a decking wholesaler who put me in touch with Chris at Deck Solutions. I knew from my first meeting with Chris that he was the man for the job. He was professional and seemed excited by the challenge. He right away had some ideas of how we could replace the wood with composite for a maintenance free deck and how to keep the grand look that wood creates and keep my stone pillars the centerpieces. I wanted to add gates to keep the dog and kids in and he was able to come up with a lightweight solution. I had a lot of requests and was very nit picky, but he handled it all with grace and ease. Ian helped with the project and they both worked their butts off in some of the hottest days this summer to complete the project. I saw the materials list from my previous discussions with the decking wholesaler and I really do not know how or if Chris made any money off my job. We had Deck Solutions clean/strip our cedar deck and re-stain it July 2017. Carl came out and did the cleaning/stripping portion and did not protect any of the surfaces around the deck as was discussed by the person who came out and gave the estimate for the work. Paint was stripped from window sills over a foot above the deck surface, Pella sliding doors off the deck have splash marks/spots on the bottom 8" of the doors where the finish was ruined by the stripping chemical, the stairs (a maintenance-free material) which I told would be covered for protection are faded from the stripping chemical, a nearby gutter was stripped of paint (and repainted by them when they stained the deck). I sent pictures to them and Chris came out to look at the damage in person. His approach, which should have been to take ownership for what his employee did and make it right, was instead to criticize the quality of work done on my home, insult me, and be disrespectful. He wanted me to let them come out and paint the damaged areas and I insisted on using someone I trust. The gutter that was completely stripped of paint and repainted by them was done poorly and I didn't want them doing anything further (even Chris commented on the poor paint job on the gutter before realizing his guys had done it). He ultimately agreed to refund me an amount of money I asked for to help offset my expenses of getting all the painting and staining fixed, which in hindsight was not nearly enough. It is unfortunate that Chris chose to deal with a negative situation in such an unprofessional manner. The deck staining itself turned out very nice and we would have probably been a maintenance customer had he just dealt with me in a respectful, professional manner. A simple apology and acting like he cared could have changed the outcome of this. And for reference, we have been in our house for 18 years and had the deck stripped re-stained multiple times and have never had this amount of damage done from the stripping process. read more
