Marks and Spencer is one of those truly British brands, from the Food Hall to clothes, they're…read moresurely a big name with huge, anchor stores around the country, this is another example of that stereotype, being one of the anchor stores of the Meadowhall of Sheffield, being towards the end of the mall it provides one of the linkways between the Meadowhall Interchange, basically forcing you to cut through here to get the train, or one of two tram stations which serve the largest shopping centre in the Yorkshire and Humber region of England, the other of course being Debenhams. It also surprises me that after 16 reviews which were merged onto Yelp originally from Qype this place has been unreviewed in nearly a whole decade, with no reviews yet actually written on the Yelp platform. The staff here seemed really friendly, but I find this to be usually typical of Marks and Spencer, a staff member even offered to help me out of the store where I was going, I found the layout and signage fairly confusing especially considering the fact there are many ways to get in, and out of the store. The store felt like a typical Marks and Spencer, product ranges were okay and this was one of the larger and better stores in the shopping mall, and for me, this would have warranted a solid three-star rating, but I'm pleased to say the service going the extra mile, makes this one of the better Marks and Spencer stores despite having a confusing layout, with the signs offering more harm than good, sending me into the changing rooms on search for the exit. 4*

I must have gone through that shop ten times over two days, and each and every time I couldn't help but grimace at the appalling clothes on display. Quite how M&S consistently manage to ruin perfectly good fabrics with such awful designs I cannot fathom, and yet the shops somehow survive and flourish all over the country. Their food is lovely, though. Bizarre.

Meadowhall is a large shopping centre, located just 3 miles away from Sheffield city centre, or 2…read moremiles away from Rotherham town centre. It is the largest shopping centre in the Yorkshire and the Humber region and the 12th largest in the UK overall by retail space, at time of writing (October 2021) - if the planned improvement works happen the centre could be expanded to become the fourth largest in the country. The mall is easily accessed by all modes of public transportation: There is a public transport interchange for trains (as far as Manchester and Cleethorpes), there are also Sheffield Supertram and bus services, serving the centre, not forgetting the 12,000 parking spaces up for grabs. There are multiple places to eat inside the centre's Oasis Dining Quarter including branches such as Friday's, KFC, McDonald's, Nando's, Pizza Express, Subway, Tapas Revolution and Wagamama. If you're looking for coffee, there are multiple branches of Starbucks, a Caffe Nero and some of the department stores here have their own Cafes. The majority of the centre feels modern, there are many large shops including Apple, Marks and Spencer, Primark and Next and even a barber and a VUE Cinema. The loss of Debenhams has hit the centre hard, which was one of the largest anchor stores of the mall. My biggest problem with this is you now have to walk all the way around the car park to get into the centre from the South Tinsley tram stop because the store is closed, that just seemed dangerous and not very well sign-posted for me. I feel they should have kept a walkway open to allow safe and confusion-free access into the centre. 4*

The Lanes. The food court itself is not bad for a shopping meal..lots of noodles or pizza and an all day breakfast place amongst them. The little shops have ethnic goods, an old fashioned toy shop and film memorabiliaThe Last Picture Show. There is also jewellery (Cleopatras is nice), a hobby shop, a watch hospital and a fairy shop. Arkwrights Emporium has all the old nostalgic stuff people love..great for gifts..including Gollies. Beatles stuff Marilyn Monroe, Laurel and Hardy. Audrey Hepburn, model cars and tractors, signs with a message, and branded stuff like BETTY BOOP. GUINNESS. JACK DANIELS. JOHN DEERE etc. These little shops are, for me, the best part of Meadowhall.

House of Fraser is one of the large, anchor stores of Meadowhall, the largest shopping centre in…read morethe Yorkshire and Humber Region, in Sheffield - It is a rather unorthodox location considering the brand, House of Fraser (HOF) which are usually located on big shopping streets in big department stores, based on other branches I have visited from London - Oxford Street and Victoria, to Manchester, Leeds and many more. It is quite a large store over two floors, including a small Cafe, the cafe, in particular, looked a little poor and run down - it had no soul or atmosphere, it felt like a waiting room for death and I couldn't bear to stay in there for just a couple of minutes. The selection didn't appear to be as good as other stores, the selection, in general, appeared more towards the women's market than men and considering HOF isn't a gender-specific brand, the balance between men and female clothing, fragrance etc seemed one-sided. The overall feel of the store is okay and it is a nice and unique brand to have in the mall, giving Meadowhall a sort of USP with many other towns and cities having the branches nearby rather than inside, of course it isn't as big, grand and marvellous as other department stores, whether that's a rival chain or HOF branch but it is pretty much "A-OK". 3*

NEXT at Meadowhall is a large, modern store, that has been refurbished lately, yet the overall…read morelook/feel of the store still feels fresh and brand new, the store now features units from Bath and Body Works, Costa Coffee and an enhanced men's section. The store is located next to Primark. The store features a small Home section, but there is a larger Next Home dedicated store, just outside the mall, on Vulcan Road, which also features a Costa Coffee. It reopened towards the end of 2022 after refurbishment. The store is spacious and has a nice feel; the men's section is also improved, while I agree the fashion isn't really catered towards a more youthful market, there are still some nice items here to take a look at. I didn't notice many staff members around the shop floor, which makes it a little more difficult if you require assistance. A new and improved location, well worth a visit for NEXT fans. 4*

They did have a small selection of trainers, again the range of brands didn't seem too impressive or exciting. The store was clean and they did have some sale items again not as much as their other stores (even similarly sized stores), but it certainly isn't worth going out of your way to visit. It reminds me a lot of their old Manchester Arndale branch before they relocated to larger premises within the mall with a better selection which could be an option here. 2*

G-Star Raw is a nice store within Meadowhall, it stands out within the large shopping centre and is…read morea pretty good store for the brand, although I feel it is too orientated towards jeans especially considering the brand, in general, sell other products too which don't seem to be focused here very much with only a small selection of costs etc, it still is a rather nice store. They did have some products, they did seem to be a little designer like in terms of pricing especially with the coats, however, I did like how they formed a Chinese dragon out of them as a form of celebration for the upcoming Chinese New Year, year of the rat. The staff seemed friendly enough but they were obviously a little bored as they were just sat at a table talking to each other, while I was in the store and passed it a couple of times during the mall, there was virtually no customers. 3* - A nice store within Meadowhall, staff seemed friendly enough too but I really do think they have their product selection wrong with a huge selection of similar jeans and not enough of other clothing and merchandise.

This store in meadowhall is really big and spacious and crammed full of gorgeous things that I just want to buy but know I can't afford. The staff are always really helpful and will have a good look out back for sizes and things rather than the usual if we've got it, it'll be out that you get in so many high street stores. Lovely shop, lovely atmosphere, high prices but worth every penny. If you like the stuff but can't afford it, take a trip to Castleford to the outlet store!

Changing rooms are a little small but staff are usually friendly and helpful. There is a large lift at the rear of the store for disabled customers or parents with prams. Usually stock great evening wear, and there are bargains to be had when there's a sale on!
