Tibits is a chain, better-for-you, buffet-style restaurant throughout Switzerland. After visiting…read moretheir location in Basel, we stopped by this location in Bern for lunch. It's one level where you wait in line to go around the buffet oval filled with salads and vegetarian food. The "Tatar Salad" is my favorite. Every plate comes with a roll and they have gluten-free options. Once done, they weigh your plate. It is pricey for a plate. There's plenty of seating and free WiFi.

The food is priced by weight, so you can choose exactly the quantity you think you will eat and only pay for that amount. No waste. I love that idea. I've seen it across Europe, but it's not something that you ever see in the UK. I was really pleased with the choice of vegetables and filled my place with a salad of sugar snap peas, soya beans, broccoli, then chose an escalope to go with it, along with some other delicious items. We were so delighted with our lunch that we went back for dinner. The dauphinoise potatoes (vegan of course!) were a real treat, and I loved them with lots of green beans with garlic, delicious mushrooms, some other veg, and a wee pie thing that turned out to be like a baked samosa. I finished off with a hot chocolate and a pastry/bun type thing - I'd clocked earlier that they always have vegan cakes. Hooray! They also have smoothies and juices too. Something for everyone.

The lunch Curry was a choice between vegetarian or meat - served with a salad on great dressing. Yes, they also offer other salad dishes and some deserts. Both the Salat bowl and the passion fruit and youghurt desert were very good. After lunch I took the chance for an update on barista tools and caffee. Since the Rösterei is run by Blaser Cafe, who is a fairly big roasting company in the buildings nearby, I can stock up on cafe (Lilla et Rose blend) when I am here for lunch. And judging the Cappucino served in midst of the lunch rush, it would be worthwhile attending their local Barista training... Always a pleasure to have lunch here, even for lesser coffee lovera...

Always busy since they are great in speciality coffee. They roast the beans right in house and are very conscious about the sources. I got a pour over which did not let me down! Prices are pretty low since it's in Bern. There's a little shop aswell, where you can buy all kind of coffee gear, coffee beans.. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, clean space and free wifi. I imagine that it's beautiful in summer, since you can sit outside. One of my to go places while visiting Bern.

A really good restaurant - especially for lunch on week days!…read more We went here twice with my GF - once on a week day and tried their menu-of-the-day and a second time on Saturday, to get a taste of their lunch menu. Both time we were highly satisfied, although the price-quality ration is definitely better on a week day. On the week day, my GF had a pumpkin soup (according to her the best she ever tried - it actually was pretty darn good), followed by their vegetarian dish of the day (that was pretty good). On my end, I had their pork chop with curry rice and roasted broccoli. Sauce was amazing, chops were really good and the rice curry was pretty darn good. Satisfied with the result, we asked for a dessert and were rather pleasantly surprised - a sort of creme with chantilly was absolutely delicious and neither overly sweet nor overly fatty. Very happy with our visit there, we came back on a Saturday a couple of weeks later and tried out their on-the menu dish. That time around I went for a couscous and my GF - for a tarte flambée as well as a salad. The salad was amazing, but the Tarte and the couscus, while pretty darn good, were subpar compared to the dish of the day we had the last time. The seating is rather spacious and separated, so sitting inside is reasonably precautious, although they also have an outside sitting for those who don't mind the cold and want to be extra safe. Overall a great place, looking forwards to coming back there again.
