I highly recommend Jill Brittle Family Law Group for any legal advice you may need…read more I recently needed assistance with obtaining a divorce and had the privilege of working with Heidi Sherman. Heidi provided me with the necessary paperwork and patiently walked me through the process. Heidi was always prompt to respond back with any questions I had and was able to give me solutions to any issues that arose. With Heidi's calming demeanor she guided me through a very stressful time and we were successful in getting the divorce finalized. My experience with Heidi and her staff were exemplary in my opinion.

In the past my wife's been represented by a well known high priced Portland lawyer who in my opinion, took advantage of my wife and her family by running up years worth of legal services because they could as emotions ran high as they often do in divorce. Sadly the legal services bill didn't match the results and ended up being a lot of wasted money (and emotions). So in seeking new representation it was important to me that we found with someone I trusted who wasn't going to do this again. We needed someone we could trust. Like a needle in a haystack, we found J-I-Double hockey stick. After she spend 45 minutes tentatively listening to the details of our circumstance, she offered sound both legal and personal advice giving us clear, concise direction and feedback. But what leads me to write this review is because at the point in the conversation where other lawyers would have sought a retainer (that I was perfectly willing to pay), Jill's focus wasn't on that and instead of collecting a $5k retainer and doing it for us (IDK what her real retainer is for the record) and offered the guidance on what we needed to do and how she suggested going about it. Instead of taking a retainer she just said to come back for consultation as needed and we'll pay on that basis. This is why I use the word INTEGRITY to describe Jill as an attorney. This is why you should pay no attention to Yelp reviewer Dirk A. who by the way sounds like an A....... anyway, Jill's great and you can put your faith and trust in her.

Law Offices of Adam M. Weiner - Adam M. Weiner, attorney at law

I filed a bankruptcy in 2017 with Adam Weiner. The level of experience, kindness, and…read moreresponsiveness of his office is unmatched. There are several options in the Portland metro, but the difference with Adam's law firms and others is that he is not here to sell you on something, but to help you navigate a difficult time and to give you knowledge about better options for the future. His rates were reasonable, and although I borrowed money to pay the whole fee at the time, he does take payments, as I recall. His office was very quick at responding to any questions or concerns. The reason for this late review is that, unfortunately, my family made a series of mistakes that landed us back in bankruptcy. Even worse, I let my embarrassment over our situation prevent us from choosing this office again and going with a much less capable firm. Don't make my mistake. Adam Weiner's office is the one you want, hands down. Having been through two bankruptcies, I have to say that this is the one I recommend to friends and family. They are very organized in setting you up for filing, treat you with respect, and help you navigate what can be a pretty overwhelming process. A bad law firm makes bankruptcy feel more stressful. With Adam Weiner every week it gets easier and easier and you'll end up feeling like you have a fresh start and were treated well by him.

After months of living off our meager savings and credit cards, we finally found enough work to get by, but by then our debt had become overwhelming, endangering any future we might have been able to build. So, scary as it was, bankruptcy seemed to be the best choice for our future financial well-being. I reached out to Adam because of a trusted referral, and he and his team were absolutely stellar. Very open, very kind, very friendly, very knowledgeable (and very affordable), I could not have asked for better support throughout the whole process. The system has these things built in to help people in precarious situations, and we should take advantage of them when we need to. I cannot recommend a better law office to do that with than Adam's. He is one of the good ones.

Sean is an incredible trial attorney that fights for the rights of his clients, while balancing a heavy workload. Because of Sean's preparation and courtroom experience, we were able to increase my time with my children by 110%. If you want results from a family law attorney... I highly recommend you retain Sean Stephens.

Sean Stephens stood out as extraordinary from the beginning, a corrective and welcome change from…read moreother divorce lawyers I had engaged. I began with several of the most highly regarded divorce lawyers in the city before deciding on Sean and his team. Throughout the divorce process, I felt calm and confident in him. He was astute in understanding the complexities of my case; clear and direct in communication; and, planful, creative, and assertive in strategy. I am thoroughly pleased with the results; he saved me time, pain, and money. His passion and effectiveness in helping people is a truly winning combination. Details follow. I needed a lawyer with incisive mind and moxie determination to cut through the charm and vindictive resolve of my former husband to "make [me] suffer and pay for this divorce...it will be very, very difficult for you." To find Sean Stephens, I went on an unfortunate expensive and time-wasting odyssey. I hope this review helps you save your energy and efforts for the exhausting divorce journey. After years of ambivalence and paralyzing fear in a marriage, I decided to find a lawyer who would not cower or cave to my husband's demands. I started working with JS, a lawyer known for fierce dog-fighting in the courtroom. I felt dread after each meeting, feeling a need to prepare for a battle that would shred any possibility of preserving an amicable parenting relationship for our son. After a few thousand dollars, I left, soured on the process; and, I waited two years before trying again. I met, along with my ex, JO, a compassionate collaborative divorce lawyer, who after hearing of my husband's hidden moves advised me to abort the collaborative process and prepare to protect myself from damage. I then began working with AM, a lawyer with bluster and hubris that might have met my husband on his level, but was nothing I wanted anything to do with, again. I began working with LR, a gentle understanding lawyer who was kind, but seemed a bit in a fog; I lost confidence that she would remember the details or take a firm stance. After over $10k, and considerable time and effort spent trying to find the right combination of traits in a lawyer, I came upon Sean Stephens. Since the first day working with Sean, I never doubted or feared. He understood my ultimate goals were to get money and support I deserved, and to preserve a working relationship with my former husband and father of my son. As I worked with Sean, he managed the complexities and intensities of my case deftly, with aplomb. I observed that with his own office and team, he is respectful, kind, fair, and supportive. His office is a good, balanced, and happy space, doing great work. During the tense mediation day, he let me rest in the yoga room within their office. I loved the representation of women and men, many from underrepresented groups, outperforming other teams I have seen in the various offices. He is an impassioned lawyer effective in helping others, who thoroughly practices the fairness and kindness for which he fights for others. My former husband indeed attempted to burn and destroy, but Sean deftly created a shield, with various strategies, including shuttle-mediation, that ultimately preserved my ability to amicably work with my ex to be parents at our best for our son. My son, family and I could not be more grateful. Dear reader, your circumstances may not seem or be as extreme, complex, or contentious, but Sean Stephens would be there for you, as for me, just in case. I will be nominating him for the SuperLawyer award, as a client/informal nomination, because he is truly extraordinary.

With the notable exception of Jessy from Hotley Law! When Jessy returned my call, she came PREPARED. Wanted all the details, listened extremely attentively, and laid out what the legal strategy, costs, benefits, etc were in proceeding. I can't thank Jessy and Solveig from Hotley Law enough. They handled all my questions, took care of the paperwork and any potential loose ends, and turned, well, let's be honest, a not-so-great experience into a 5-star one! For reals, thank you to Jessy, Solveig, and the team at Hotley Law from me and my kid for helping us get past this chapter and onto to the rest of our lives.

Eventually, we were forced to change strategies, and attorneys. We had sought a second opinion on our case from Nathan Holtey, who came recommended to us, and that one hour conversation was enough to convince us that he and his team were up to the task. When the aforementioned change of representation occurred, Nathan was personally unavailable for our case, but recommended the absolutely stellar, professional and personable Allison Kamilos. Allison immediately picked up the slack, leaping in to the middle of the previous attorney's clusterf**k, managing to turn everything around and help us navigate the final steps of our custody battle, despite an absurdly tight schedule before the final deadline. Allison communicated clearly, openly and honestly, listening to our concerns, offering feedback and advice (something our previous attorney failed to do), and making one of the most stressful and frustrating times in our lives navigable, bearable, and affordable. I cannot recommend the services of Holtey Law, and Allison in particular, any higher. If ever the situation arises again, where we are in need of an attorney (and I pray that day never comes), I will look nowhere else for legal representation. Case closed.
