Since I wanted to make the switch from long to short, I did my hairstylist-research and this one had rave reviews. Deservedly so! They take their time and (anatomically) analyze the best possible cut for each individual client. Furthermore the people are incredibly friendly and pamper you all the way to hair heaven, i.a. with the amazing head massages! After a quick look at their website, I was ready to call. Within an hour of my emailing them, there was a friendly reply, with an appointment for the next day. Easy to find, and in an interesting part of the city. The entire staff was warm and welcoming, and as others have noted, they do really care about what you are looking for. Antwerp is filled with hair salons, but this one stood out from the rest. Art Director Justyna Van Loenhout cut my hair into a face framing cut with lots of texture. I shopped one of the nearby vintage stores on the way home, and two other travelers noted my hair. What more can I say. They delivered.

Not only does she understand what you mean but she'll give her input as well and come up with ideas. The interior is chique and modern with a sleek long white leather sofa and as you sit in the chair getting your hair done, the mirror shows the trees and the beauty of the buildings across the street. With a nice athmosphere, good coffee and soothing lounge music you'll enjoy every minute and look forward to coming back before you've even left.

Steven Richard and Sigi Roels, the hair masterminds behind Sir Richard, have created an environment that comes close to the perfect hair salon, if you ask me. No annoying spots while you have your hair washed, but a ceiling with playful white bulbs. Every material and detail is making you feel at ease. My favourite? The magnificent cowhide chairs. Though it is one salon, Sir Richard has two doors: one for men, one for women. The decoration and use of colours divides the space further optically in a playful yet stylish way. One thing I was particularly excited about, was the traditional shave. It was everything I hoped for. For over half an hour I got pampered by skilled hands, with lotions, massages, brushed, warm towels and sharp blades. I felt reborn. You'd expect that for this kind of salon you have to make reservations. Yet Steven Richard reassured me that you can just hop by if you suddenly want to get rid of your extra hair. That's the thing about Sir Richard: though everything is classy and luxurious, it has the feeling of a warm local business. Finding a hairdresser that fully understands you is hard and Sir Richard has definitely managed to get into my very selective list.

The Gentleman who runs this place is a master of his craft having traveled with several salons across the world and it's shows in his work. Ik had afgelopen vzaterdag om 8:30u een afspraak en keek er oprecht naar uit. Ik kom op tijd toe, stap binnen en niemand daar die me begroet. Zat nog een dame te wachten. Uiteindelijk komt er iemand, maar nog steeds krijg ik geen Hallo of vragen ze zelfs niet naar mijn naam . Uiteindelijk mag ik naar de wastafel komen, nog steeds zonder enige communicatie. Vervolgens wacht ik met natte haren tot om 9u een dame binnenstormt en eindelijk mijn naam vraagt. Ze zou mijn haar knippen en had in de file gestaan. Open communicatie had gewoon fijn geweest , had absoluut geen warm gevoel bij jullie. Mijn haren worden geknipt, maar ik voel de rush en de stress omdat de volgende klanten al klaar zitten. Uiteindelijk ben ik ook niet tevreden met hoe mijn haar geknipt is. Ik lijk wel op een champignon, haar valt absoluut niet mooi als ik het zelf was. Wou dit oorpsonkelijk gewoon mailen maar kon nergens een mail adres vinden.

Ik…read morewerd vandaag zeer onvriendelijk, ronduit boertig, behandeld, mijn haar werd tegen mijn wil in veel te kort geknipt (en ik zie er nu lelijk uit) en totaal onaangekondigd golden er nieuwe regels en tarieven. Ik mocht als student niet langer van een korting genieten en betaalde 65 euro voor het knippen van haar dat al kort was en waar eigenlijk alleen de puntjes af moesten. Ik was te verbouwereerd om van dit alles ook maar iets te zeggen maar ben boos naar huis teruggekeerd.
