My wife and I were roaming around the city of Lille with absolutely no direction, no plan, and nothing to actually do when we wandered a bit far from where we were staying and got a bit hungry, which lead us to try and get back to a place we knew. When we were walking back we randomly walked by De Rode Koe and figured "why wait?" So we headed in and grabbed a table. This place was small, but very comfortable and the gentleman working was super friendly and pleasant. This restaurant features a good selection of vegan and vegetarian options while also having a few meat options as well to cater to pretty much everyone. I was struggling to decide on what to get when I blurted out "lasagna" and made the choice I didn't know I needed. The food came out pretty quickly here and let me tell you, it should have had a warning on it. The lasagna was roughly 200 degrees Celsius and smelled so good I couldn't help but take teeny tiny little bites for the first 20 minutes. Once the dish actually cooled down and I got to eat it, this thing was next level tasty and I couldn't help but devour the whole thing. The meats flavoring was absolutely delicious while the cheese and sauce were top notch as well, this thing was perfect!
Overall, De Rode Koe was a random home run that I'm so glad I got to experience. I loved pretty much everything about this place and wish I was staying in the city longer so I could have tried something else off the menu. If you need good food in this city, this place is gonna treat you right. read more
