After walking through Doel, a semi-ghost town, on a sunny Sunday, we were getting hungry and then noticed a windmill down the road so decided to walk there since it appeared from the distance that people were having drinks outside of it. We were hoping that they served sandwiches.
They served sandwiches and even more! I never expected hot food! I had this sort of vol-au-vent meat pie with a nice sauce that was served along with traditional Belgian frites (fries) and a salad. My young lady had a salad of chicken and apple also with fries and some salad. We also had a couple of Jupiler beers. They did serve several different beers as well. The food was amazing, not what was expected at all. The waitress was very helpful (menus only in Dutch) and friendly, which is always a plus.
It's quite an experience to enjoy a Sunday lunch sat in front of a 17th century windmill with a nuculear power plant in the background. read more
