I could not believe it has taken me so long to notice this little shop of delights. It might be it's minute size that makes it so well hidden, or perhaps it is that opening hours are irregular and rare, and I'd not chanced upon it during opening hours until now.
Anyway, I'm so glad to have become acquainted with De Mille, all glamour and class and expensive tastes.
One is immediately struck by the pristine condition of the goods. Beautiful vintage Prada shoes with ne'er a scratch on them, fur coats and hats with every strand of fur still intact and as glossy and plush as the day they were made, divine jewellery the likes worn by Hollywood starlets of yore.
You won't find a price tag in sight, and I believe this is to prevent curious customers from being frightened away before they've had a chance to fall in love with everything in store. I asked about the price of two items - a 50s cotton day dress at $250 and a 60s fur coat with alternating mink and suede pelts priced at $750.
Needless to say, I quickly left the store after that, not wanting to risk forming an undying attachment to the fur coat that I will probably never be able to possess. Sigh. read more
