Delicious food, ethnic cultural ambiance. De Afghanan's kabobs are authentic afghan cuisine on par with the Fremont location. The restaurant is large and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. Must try their combination kabob and leek bolani when it's in season.

Great halal afghan place, same as the fremont one with way more seating available both indoors and outdoors . Service was good and prompt, would recommend. Food came out fresh, bolani was good too

Bolani with potato as an appetizer

This place is a hidden gem-clean, nicely decorated, with friendly/attentive service and the food was exceptional! Rich in taste, savory, aromatic and the portions were large. We started with the Bolani with potato. A light pastry with yogurt and chutney, I was thinking a middle Eastern quesadilla as a description. The serving size would be a meal in itself. A nice precursor to my entree. I'd recommend the kabob plate with tikka, beef and ground sirloin. It was accompanied with rice and chopped cucumbers with bits of onion. Was so satisfying and delicious. I'm going back and bringing some friends!

Celebrating my brother in law's birthday we decided to have a dinner at De Afghanan. Gets a bit tricky on google maps to locate it if you miss the right turn though not that big of a challenge. Good enough parking spots though can get a bit squishy in there. Once we got in our host for the evening was Amanullah and he got us to our table by the window and got us our menus and had us seated just fine. We started with some tea and he brought along a chickpea mini dish of sorts that tasted amazing with the cilantro sauce. Got going with our appetizers and an order for Mantu and Bodinjon Borani. Pretty impressed must say with the mantu and it got swept off the serving plate in no time. Borani was tasty as well and we took our time with it enjoying the flavor. For our main course we ordered a plate of Lamb Kabob with white rice , Quabili Pallow, Triple Kabob and Combination Kabob with Brown rice , carrot and raisins. Can't say enough about the kabobs , the marination, the actual grilling and all aspects that must have gone into making these must have been absolutely to the point. Amazing taste and we kept talking about these all evening long. Quabili pallow had the lamb just perfectly done and tasted amazing. We ended the evening with an order of Baklava and Firni which again came out just perfect and complemented tea along with them. Great food, great service, great host made our evening special. Definite recommendation!!!

****BE ADVISED SCREW FOUND IN FOOD**** In good faith, I chose to hold off on this review but with how this was addressed once we contacted the restaurant of this mishap was unfortunate. I ordered Chapli kebab to-go and found a dirty screw partially wedged inside my chapli kebab. I noticed the screw once I started cutting into the meat. This is not my first time doing business with this specific restaurant so I was shocked with what we found. Restaurant stated "we apologize and will make you free food next time you visit". We no longer wanted to do business here with what we found and how this could've turned out if this was ingested. We drove to the restaurant showed them the plate and they offered PARTIAL REFUND. I do not condone or like bashing small businesses but this is something that needs to be addressed and corrected considering the compensation in return was a partial refund in return for a terrifying takeout experience.

Great food as always. The chicken kabobs are better than the lamb kabob. I would not recommend the shor nukhud or the bolognee.

Hands down, the best Afghan food in Tracy. No contenders. Clean, quiet, friendly, good for the family.

I did not even know it existed, and now I am wondering how I missed out for so long. A huge bonus is that my partner enjoys hookah from time to time, and this place does both sandwiches and hookah really well. The sandwiches are unique and full of flavor, and the hookah options are just as impressive. My partner loved it, and we both agreed we will definitely be coming back. We arrived right when hookah service started at 5 pm, which is when you can place hookah orders every day. The Dutch crunch roll was absolutely amazing. I am already craving it again and would recommend getting any sandwich on that bread. It is a must try and easily a ten out of ten. The location is in downtown Redwood City with plenty of parking available all around. I can tell this place gets very busy during peak hours and on weekends. By the time we left, it was already packed, even on a Monday night.

Next choice was Pasha, with a covered patio & hookah lounge, as well as a large open space inside. The lemonade cost $7, which I wasn't willing to pay unless it was at least 20 oz. Iced tea isn't listed on the menu, so I asked. Made of freshly brewed real tea the day, it was quite welcome. The tea was served in a cut/molded glass pineapple shaped glass. Truly practical: good grip, less likely to slip. Uncommon, but attractive. I ordered the salmon wrapped in lavash bread, minus onions & mayo. I asked for hummus bi tahini instead. There was lettuce, cucumber, & unripe tomatoes (It's tomato season, folks, but most restaurant produce suppliers just sell for bulk, not necessarily peak/in season. That's a different, more costly supplier) inside the wrap, the char-grilled salmon just right. I'd say that even if I had eaten earlier. The salad was marinated (I think) red cabbage over lettuce, cukes, & pale tomato. The whole meal--no dessert--was really tasty and welcome. The staff was pleasant, the food was true to its eastern Mediterranean roots. While ostensibly Turkish, there were Armenian and Greek elements (erm, both done wrong by the Turks). I did get a top-off offer for my iced tea, which I happily accepted. My meal was just over $20, including tax. Here, I hope, are photos of the iced tea glass, and the ceiling of the ladies' room. 5/22/26 Meal photo taken after I started to eat, in order to enjoy the fish while hot. Grilled salmon had a sauce to add to the lovely flavor, but was slightly overdone for my taste/ uniform pink, as opposed to darker pink center, which if reheated, will not be too dry. In spite of using red onion instead of the whites of green onions, the tabbouleh was just right. The red onion dice didn't bite, as un- or slightly cooked onions do to me. The tomatoes were ripe, too. I have to take most of the tabbouleh and pita, and half the salmon home: portions bigger than stomach. Happy tum!

There was a lot of miscommunication between employees, one staff member told us one thing, then another employee came over and told us the opposite. It honestly felt unorganized and confusing, and when we tried to clarify, the interactions came across as rude rather than helpful. Before coming, we had already noticed the reviews were pretty mixed, with a lot of people praising the food but also many mentioning issues with the service. Sadly, after our experience, we can understand why. Customer service really sets the tone for the whole experience, and unfortunately the staff interaction alone was enough for us to decide to leave instead of staying to dine in. We genuinely wanted to give this place a fair chance since we drove so far for it, but the overall experience just didn't make us feel welcomed.
