Unprofessional, defensive, expensive. Although I got the information for my deceased parents' to the office in the first week of March, he did not start on my parents' return until April 11, when he asked for information. My parents' returns were not filed by Tax Day (no communication to me letting me know that they would miss filing day) and when I called a few days later to ask about the status of the returns, I got a message saying the office was closed for two weeks. The returns were not filed until late May, and that was after several calls and emails from me asking what they needed to process the returns. Promises of "we just need this information and then we're done" were followed by more weeks of silence. The invoice of $1135 (WTH!) included a line item of "calls and emails" -- not itemized, so I have no idea of how much he padded the bill for my communications asking what they still needed to get my parents' taxes done -- which were always met by excuses, excuses, excuses, as to why he hadn't gotten it done. Dawson made sure to tell me during our last conversation that he wouldn't file until I paid the invoice (which I had no idea what the amount was and certainly had not suggested I would not pay it, but maybe that was to pre-empt me from going ballistic when I saw the $1135 for a tax return). Don't worry, Dawson, I have no intention of using you again for my family's tax needs. read more
