I've never had an easy experience paying for food, medicine, or scheduling visits in person. He is very snarky and disrespectful to customers. He even mocked me and gave me a long look of disgust for trying to figure out what type of appointment I needed to schedule for next time. If it wasn't for the excellent care actually provided to my cat, I'd find a new vet clinic in a heartbeat.

Had my youngest (Standard Poodle) neutered and Doc Cain did such great work on my boy. Seamless drop-off and instructions for care afterwards. They even plucked his ears and cleaned the canals out for me. Loved the break from doing that. They completed an all around check of him and advised dental care for me to do at home and ordered some product for me. How thoughtful and thorough. Later that day on pick up I had to bring an older cat in with me who is unwell. After checking him out and doing a chemistry, Doc Cain and Mgr. Mrs. Cain determined he was diabetic. They counciled me completely on several options for his care going forward, and as I chose treatment, they went over how to take care of him and follow ups for close monitoring of his health. God Bless you all for such great care, and the time you spend with me on my pets, and careful consideration of their health care. They treat every client and their pets as family. Interestingly, I verified that the last time we went down there was for my dog, Princess. The receptionist said yes. Our AKC paperwork shows a purchase date of August 2, 2023. I have pictures of my son in the lobby of their office with our dog on August 25, 2023. Today is March 4, 2025. Unless there's a strange glitch in the matrix, that's less than 2 years since we've been there. Nonetheless, they refused to see my cat. I have been using them for my animals since 2003. They neutered my bunny. They saw my parent's animals. They have been the "go to" for all of our pets. I don't know what has changed with these people - the management - the doctor? Perhaps they've forgotten they are a COMMUNITY vet and should be concerned about the wellbeing of all animals... especially those in town who've supported them throughout the years. One wound management appointment isn't asking them to take on a high maintenance pet with a multitude of appointments. It's revenue for them, without having to add a significant amount to their case load. Awful management. Awful policies. Awful math.

He was due to get his teeth cleaned and we received a call within an hour of dropping him off that he was no longer a candidate for the procedure. He was diagnosed with lymphoma and they could not have been kinder or more accommodating. Cleaning is typically $550-900. They could have cleaned his teeth and made a substantial amount of money but instead they prioritized our furbaby & his family. We have seen both vets over the course of this horrible disease & I have no doubt he received the best treatment possible. Dr Essig has a tremendous talent for delivering unpleasant news in the most calming demeanor. Dr Holter always made me feel better than before I got there. Both are exceptionally knowledgeable & compassionate. Williamstown Animal Hospital offers a small town feel with the resources of a big city. Cancer sucks yet they made it the best experience possible. They even offer cremation.
