I only…read morehad 4 days to find a 20'x40' tent that had a cooling system (I didn't even know they had these, but we had planned an outdoor event for 65 people and the forecast was 96-degrees). I reached out to several companies early one morning, and Mike was the first one to call me back - it was within an hour or 2, not 24 hours like some other companies. He said he had everything we needed. And he was right! He and his awesome team showed up the evening before the event, put the big tent up, strung up some Edison lights, put on the side walls, and set up the evaporative cooling units. Mike even came back the next day, 2 hours before the party started to fill the coolers with water and ice and fire them up. The next day, his crew came by again to take everything down, just like they said they would. From start to finish, it was an absolute pleasure to work with Mike and his Top Dog team! They really saved the (very hot) day!! I highly recommend them!

In Event Source, I can play with the table settings to my heart's content. Whenever I have cause to be in here, I literally look at the options and try to dream up events where I can employ my fantasies. Those are some pretty strong feelings about tablecloths, eh?! Tablecloths, napkins, flatware, china, serving pieces, chairs, tables, the list goes on and on. You'd be really surprised what you can rent for your event! And boy, do I. For our wedding, I liked the linens that came with the venue, but we punched up the tables by adding a different napkin and a table runner. For the more "VIP" tables we changed out the tablecloth and napkin, and added chargers. Doing the whole room would've been a little too spendy, but with Event Source, we could very effectively make our wedding look above-ordinary. I also used Event Source when I hosted Thanksgiving for 22 people at my house. I ordered all the china (I have some nice china, but man, who has 22 place settings?), which was super fun because of course I went with something I wouldn't have BOUGHT in that kind of quantity. Gold filigree for everyone! (Also, bread plates, gold handled flatware, gold rimmed water goblet and wine glass.) Napkins and tablecloths, too. A plate is, like, less than $2 to rent. Totally worth it. The best part -- didn't have to wash dishes! Yep, ES asks that you return them "dirty" (we rinsed at least). Same goes for linens. Just put 'em in the provided laundry bags. Do you know how long it would've taken me to launder and iron all those table linens?! It may have never gotten done. You can rent things in sets of 10 (some other items may have different quantities... Ask!). Think beyond the wedding. ES is a lifesaver (and a dreamscape) for other events as well! Customer service is top notch. Next time you're headed to ES, can I come?

Pulled up to the Books and Bubbles Book Fair on 4/17 at The Five Party and Event Center in Columbus, OH -- and y'all, it was a whole vibe! The venue was cute, spacious, and had plenty of room for all the amazing local authors showcasing their work -- plus a little game room in the back for some extra fun. (You know I love a well-rounded event!) Highlights: * Met incredible authors like Larry Robertson (wordssavedlives.com), Signe Damron (signe-ture.com), Jordan Burton (theartbyjburt.com), Joseph Doherty (joeydoherty.com), Sylvia Harris (srdharrisbooks.com), and Lachandra Baker (lbbedutainment.com). * Copped two animated kids' books for $25 -- signed directly to my beau's niece, who immediately clutched them like treasures. ("It says my name!" she screamed as her mom got guilt-tripped into reading them...again. ) AND I got a book of poetry from Larry, and will plan to visit Jordan's art exhibit at ROY G BIV before the end at May 2nd! It warmed my heart to recognize faces from the Main Library Literary Fair, the First Annual Poetry Festival, and Zora's House events. Considering my ancestors risked their lives to read, I don't take the beauty of these moments lightly. Major love and respect to everyone keeping the literary flame alive.
