I want to start off this post by saying second chances are sometimes the best. We had a bad experience at David's Grill back in early April 2021. I wrote a letter about our dissatisfaction. Amanda Barham the Marketing Manager for Red Hawk responded immediately with genuine concern. She invited us back out to try the restaurant again when we were ready. I contacted her yesterday to see if the offer still stood, we set a reservation for today. We were met by Amanda who lit things up with her smile and genuine happiness to meet us. Amanda rounded up the General Manager who apologized for our unpleasant experience last time and took a few minutes to truly engage us. We had incredible service and a meal that matched some on the better steak houses in Reno and Sparks. My wife had the Salmon & Shrimp with Pesto (I had to try a bite) it was fantastic, they may want to consider that on your regular menu. I had the Ribeye with mushroom sauce (cooked and seasoned perfectly). Well done by the entire staff, thank you for inviting us back. We went on a Sunday morning and they said we had to wait over an hour. they stopped us before we left and said they found a place for us. They were so accommodating and kind that my 14 year old made me swear I would write a nice review as he also loved his food, as did I. Best experience from this out of towner! read more

Ok, we have had enough. We have never had great service at this place. Get ignored and have to find the server. This time we were quick to order drinks and after delivering them, she never asked if we were ready to order.... just walked off and couldn't get her attention. 10 minutes passed and we couldn't get anyone to help us order. I was staying on property (for nearby work) and had two dinners here with other work colleagues. Both meals were unfortunately underwhelming. First up was their Monday night prime rib special which came with soup or salad, meat, potato and vegetable. The deal also included ice cream for dessert. I ordered my meat medium and settled in with my cup of corn chowder soup. The soup was decent enough, with a slightly creamy broth and whole corn kernels. The issues started when the main dish arrived. My prime rib was clearly overcooked with no red color whatsoever. The mashed potatoes I ordered were dry and flaky, not creamy, and the mixed veggies were cold. The vanilla ice cream scoop with caramel sauce afterwards was nice, but not enough to save the meal. On the second visit I decided to try another dish I'd seen go by the earlier night...chicken Parmesan with pasta and a side salad. Salad was pretty standard issue and their Ranch dressing was just fine. The chicken parm showed up with very little sauce or cheese on top (especially as compared to others ordered around the table...very inconsistent presentation and preparation). The twin chicken breasts were pounded out so thin that they became dried out and overcooked when fried and due to the lack of sauce and cheese had a somewhat burned taste. This is our first time at David's, and the food was absolutely amazing! The White Chocolate bread pudding is to die for. We tried the sand wedge salad, love the Tabasco onions... The tomahawk pork chop dinner & super yummy mashed potatoes... and the Frenchmans dip sandwich with really great onion rings. It was so excellent. David's is a convenient place in Spanish Springs for a quick bite to eat. Typically, the food is great and service is good but not today. The service, more than the food, the order was wrong when it came out, which I attribute to our server not writing anything down. Once we had our meal, we were forgotten and when the server did come back to ask us if we needed anything (our glasses were empty) she did so seeing we had nearly finished the meal and it seemed she was just asking so she could bring the check. This is a local's favorite! We sat outside and enjoyed the views of the golf course and setting sun. Great food and service. Started off with cocktails from the bar. Hubby got the Back 9 Hamburger with bacon jam, pepper jack cheese and chipotle mayo. The French fries are amazing and unique - hot and crispy curls of potatoes. I ordered the night's special: a seafood pasta loaded with succulent rounds of scallops, baby clams, shrimp and salmon over linguine in a butter cream sauce. Had lunch at davids today, had breakfast there 2 weeks ago,so 1st breakfast it was good not great felt portions were a little small,had eggs benedict which was the morning special for 8 dollars and it was good for the money better breakfast around town. Now onto lunch which is why I gave them 5 stars,lunch was great huge portions,good service,nice atmosphere,sat outside.I had the French dip with fries and it was great my friend had the Reuben looked great also. Decided to take the wife to David's grill for dinner. We checked in and the young lady said it would be a 15 minute wait. She took my wife's cell number and said she would contact us. We sat outside and waited over 35 minutes. We finally went back inside and stood in line for another 5 to 10 minutes. While in line the older lady asked people in front of us how many in their party, they said two. She proceeded to sit them at a table while we waited. Once we finally got to the front of the line my wife told them we checked in over 40 minutes ago. The older lady said, we were wondering about that. Question? Why have a system and take someone's number and not even use the system. Personally I will not bother with a place like this. You only get one shot to impress patrons. You clearly missed that opportunity. We finally ordered the food. Brussel sprouts came out cold. Plate was very hot, food was not. We ordered tacos it was taking forever. Looked at the waitress. She came over and said to us " I checked on your food its coming." I can feel the tension". Food was just below average. Overall service and food not very good. read more

This is my favorite local spot right now. It's super close and convenient, has super welcoming friendly staff and a good menu. It's really nice to have a meal on the patio in the summer and how do you not love a place that has a happy hour 7 days a week from 4:30 -6:40. I would've given a good rating for the convenience, ambiance and staff but the food is really good too. I love the fish tacos with a vodka cran for happy hour and the veggie omelet for breakfast. Whether you're outside on the patio with a view or inside watching a game at the bar, you're gonna enjoy some good food, stiff drinks and fun company. read more

I'm updating this review faster than I have ever updated any other review due to the fact that we went to David's for dinner last night and it was an entirely different experience. I still stand by my thought that breakfast is not really worth the drive but dinner is different. Last night the place was full. The clientele is much different for dinner - higher class and younger in age. Wait staff is more attentive. Overall the ambiance is better and classier. I got the scallops at $32 and Chris got the land and sea (shrimp and steak) at $30. I know scallops aren't cheap but we did expect more than 5. No big deal - the were prepared perfectly and Chris was also very pleased with his dinner. After dinner we sat at the bar for a drink and chatted with Judy who bartends. She is also very pleasant. NOT impressed. At ALL. Ordered "hot wings", teriyaki wings and a salad. $40 dude. And I I get THIS TRASH?! $40, and you can't even put in the right salad dressing!? The "hot wings".... I've had better beef jerky. So damn dry, I could use them as skipping stones in the lake by my house. The teriyaki wings...I've had better from Domino's. Even the spring mix salad was dry, but can't eat that either, because they didn't even give me the right dressing. So, needless to say, my first overall impression of this place is S___, and I will NEVER be back. I live for this place. First, I mostly enjoy the outside seating. Getting to people watch while enjoying a meal with someone is key. It's even better at David's because you're watching golfers play and your view is miles of green. I am at David's very often and I have never had bad food. Courtney and Hillary provide friendly and prompt service at the bar, even on a busy day/night. Manager Reagan engages with customers and makes sure everything is up to standards. I know a lot people say this place is hit or miss but it's our neighborhood spot and my experiences have been positive. We love our breakfasts here primarily but we frequent on many other occasions- happy hour, dinner, movies on the green, holidays, brunches etc. Sometimes the service is a little inattentive but it is pretty good the majority of the time. We have certain staple items that we order regularly and find the value in it. There are some over priced items I think could use adjustments, primarily wine & cocktail prices... I get that it's at the golf resort but it is still Reno/Sparks. All in all, I think David's is pretty solid given all the factors. The holiday banquet events are not my most favorite but the specialty dinners have been excellent . I think if you live in the area, it's a good neighborhood spot. The Breakfasts are awesome, chicken teriyaki bowl is my most favorite thing, my daughter loves the wings. Love to drink Rose and they only have one (way overpriced) but i will take it. David's May not be for everyone but they have been good to us so We will continue to be faithful patrons. read more

From the moment you walk in you are greeted with a friendly smile, and then seated promptly. The service is outstanding. Food was brought out as soon as it was prepared. We don't live in the wingfield springs area but we were checking out a development nearby for a relative thinking about a home purchase there. David's Wouldday be a great place to have in walking distance. I do believe we will visit again even though it's about a 25 minute drive for us across town. The place is very comfortable but still has a little air of sophistication. The service was excellent, the food is a bit more than ok. The drink selections are better than other golf course restaurants around. We had the Ahi Salad and a burger with no bun and onion rings. Ahi salad was good but ahi was just a bit over cooked but still a good salad . The burger was cooked perfect to the "medium" request and the Bacon jam was "my jam" . We opted for dessert too , key lime pie was very good and the tiramisu was satisfying for a sweet end but really on the thick side , I brought half hone and actually placed it in the microwave for 20 sec and it made it soft and light like I would expect so not sure if that means they had it too chilled , don't know . I would definitely return if in the area or mist definitely will return come the warm weather when the patio is open for dining. read more

We arrived there at 4:10 PM to catch a very early dinner as both my daughter and I had not eaten that day. The waitress came, gave us oue menus and waters and left. Thirty five minutes later we got up and left as no one had come to take our order or refill our waters. We could see empkoyees standing around talking to each other. We were the only ones in the restaurant, so I know they were not too busy. If they were not serving yet we would have understood, but that was not communicated to us.
