Dr. Schopick is a fantastic doctor and he is very patient and willing to work with your needs. He is very understanding and good at diagnosing exactly what the problem may be. Dr. Schopick's the best psychiatrist I've ever had and I've been through several. He is caring and determined to find the right solution. He is also straightforward and will try out a variation of medicine until he finds the right ones that work for you. Pay him a visit, you won't regret it. read more

Dr. Schopick is wonderful and his receptionist is also super nice. My first appointment with him went well over an hour because he never interrupted me and just let me talk while he listened. I felt welcome in his office and I feel like he really cares about my progress. Plus, his adorable kitten Ziggy is always sleeping on the couch in his office and how could you not love that? read more

I would rather suffer then spend my time and money at this office. I spent over a year going to this office and feel it was a complete and utter waste of time. The Doctor is condescending and rude. I never felt like the doctor was vested in my care. At one point he actually made fun of the clothes I wore to the appointment. I've never figured out if that's just some sick form of therapy he was trying or if he really is that insensitive. Pro tip for the doctor: don't poke fun of the people that come to you for help with depression. It doesn't lift their spirits. The parking situation is awful. The waiting room is too small for the crowds that are there waiting. So be prepared to stand or sit on the floor. If you don't have an early appointment you won't be seen at your scheduled time. Dr. Schopick isn't very good but the support staff is excellent. read more

Clueless and could care less about patient. To have a young man who experienced the process of losing a parent to cancer and was refered to Dr. Shopick for complicated grief and depression ( not sleeping, skipping school, withdrew from all activities) and this doctor told him to just get back into life....not that hard, he said to a depressed teen..after 10 visits ( all out of pocket), it was clear that he did not know how to practice medicine read more

Rude and condescending. I explained I was in recovery from opiates and had been clean for 3 years minus a relapse 6 months prior. That I was struggling with ADD and Depression a lot of which was circumstantial. I told him I had been exercising and eating healthier and even though that was helping it was not enough and I was still very emotionally up and down. I went in inquiring about non narcotic options to treat the ADD symptoms. He suggested I be on a sleep medication as well as up the dose on the current medication (Wellbutrin)I've been already taking and get on suboxone or vivitrol. Which is insane being 6 months clean and sober to suggest prescribing opioid medication (suboxone. used to ween active opioid addicts off of heroin.a prescription doctors and pharmaceutical companies will happily keep you addicted to and paying for for the next 10+years) he then told me if I did not agree to suboxone or vivitrol he would refuse to treat me at all. I declined his offer and he happily accepted my 35 dollar copay and suggested I continue to go to my recovery meetings. If you value a doctor that will listen to you and genuinely try to meet your needs I would avoid doctor Schopick at all costs. (That being said the secretary was extremely friendly.) read more

Doctor Schopick is a very caring man. I have been with him for around ten years now and he has helped me so much. I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for his help. He treats me for multiple different mental health issues and does a fantastic job at it. I couldn't have picked a better psychiatrist to treat me. I have one hundred percent trust and confidence in this man and thank him for all that he's done for me. Plus he has a cute cat! He is funny and compassionate as well. We have been seeing Dr. Schopick for 6 years now. After having a negative experience with the local mental health center, we decided to find a private practice psychiatrist who would work with our son's complex needs. Dr. Schopick is a trusted member of our son's treatment team. He uses years of experience, to make experience-based and research based decisions. He does come across as no-nonsense. If you are expecting the more coddling approach of a therapist, then get a therapist. Dr. Schopick attempts to tease out the necessary facts needed to determine if a course of treatment is working, or needs to be adjusted. My son is a complex case and it has required very close monitoring at times, trying different meds, different doses and different combinations, to find stability. At times we needed to see the doc weekly (when less stable), but now we see him every 3 months. He always warns of potential side effects and screens for them. He makes sure routine bloodwork is done, if particular meds can have un-seen side effects. He does have strong opinions based on his experience and knowledge, however he does listen to patients. And if I ask why he is recommending this particular med, he will share his experience with it, or the research that supports it. There have been a couple times over the years where I (the parent) have disagreed with a med change and he did ultimately respect my position. Appointments are easy to make and his office support Vicki is wonderful. Additionally, he has an emergency line - which we did have to use a few times over the years. I don't think any other prescriber would have been willing to go on this needed, bold and intensive journey, to get my son to the stable point he is at today. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Schopick for over 12 years. He helped me immensely through an traumatic event in my life. I have seen psychiatrists previously who don't listen. He is highly intelligent and is a published author. When I call him he gets back to me within 5 minutes every time. Some people want to be babied when they see their psychiatrist but you have to work with him and take what he says seriously and do it. This is coming from a nurse. While waiting in the waiting room, I often see teenagers who you can tell obviously don't want to be there because they don't think they need help. read more
