They are a State funded agency that studies and educates people about the wonderful geology of Indiana. The Survey has a Learning Lab on the first floor that is open to the public. The Lab feature information and examples of many amazing rocks and fossils that can be found in Indiana. There is an activity area for kids and knowledgable and friendly staff to help. There is a shop where you can purchase books, maps, geology-themed gifts and more. Prices are reasonable to downright cheap. They also have assorted information about fossils and geology that are free. During my visit, I bought maps, cards and books. They only take credit cards, no cash. I also needed some information and the director, Todd Thompson, took the time to help me and print off what I needed. The staff is super helpful. Visiting the family-friendly center is free. There is street parking if you go when students are not in campus. The building is accessible. I think they also offer guided tours, but I didn't have a chance to check those out. The Center is worth a visit to learn about Indiana's remarkable Geology. Bring the kids.
