This is an accurate factual account as to the mean spirited boorish, callous Dave Berzon violated…read morethe patients rights(stated and displayed on the walls of each floor) at Hillcrest Hospital Mayfield Heights Ohio July 2014. After the elderly patient(a hospital benefactor and my beloved father) had been treated by a young inexperienced infectious disease doctor Nora Coburn with a careless and recklessly initiated antibiotic protocol for a respiratory infection which caused a life threatening immune response to an anti-biotic that the patients record showed had a possible red man reaction several months earlier led to a hypotensive crisis necessitating intravenous subclavian central line to raise dangerously low blood pressure. Coburn lied and blamed the reaction on a state of being septic when a blood culture clearly indicated a negative result. I was with the patient when I immediately alerted a nurse that the vancomycin infusion had to be stopped immediately as the patient had peripheral Vaso dilation and pursed lip breathing. Obviously I requested another provider more experienced in the medical specialization of infectious disease. Berzon walked in to my father's room and started an angry vitriol of out of control rantings. He said Infectious disease works as a team and has resigned from the case and now he is assuming control. A direct violation of the patients rights not to be allowed to request another provider. Coburn had discharged the patient with 500mg of Augmentin clavulanate which caused the patients condition to quickly deteriorate as it was an incorrect antibiotic incapable of eliminating the bacterial agent. Berzon shouted Augmentin is a good antibiotic and Coburn is a good doctor. A juvenile puerile bit of nonsense in view of what was transpiring. Berzon in a mean dictatorial voice said"I am taking over the case and I want four types of tests and if you refuse any one the patient must leave". Two of the tests CT scan of the chest and C-dificile the patient already had and a CT scan has 325 times more radiation than an x-Ray. Berzon callously shouted it won't matter in this patients case. A cruel mean spirited statement.he said if the patient gets a fungal infection he will die. I alerted the Mayfield Heights police and Cleveland clinic police as to Berzon's harsh demands as to possible extortion forcing various tests as a condition of remaining in the hospital until well enough for discharge. This fellow is the meanest most opinionated arrogant hostile pessimistic physician I ever met in greater than 40 days and nights in Cleveland Ohio area hospitals.

I have a chronic lung disease. I have had it my whole life. I am no stranger to lung doctor…read moreappointments. To say that this doctor was the worst pulmonologist i have ever had my entire life, would be an understatement. He was my doctor after i could no longer see a pediatric lung doctor at age 18. I knew up until then my lungs weren't perfect. That i had lung issues. I knew that. When i first met with doctor Berzon, after the first 'pulmonary function test' was given to me. I met with him in his office and he said, 'Your lungs are bad. Extremely bad. You should have a double lung transplant' I was shocked. I was then sent for the next 4 years (two times a year, for two days each) To the Cleveland Clinic where Berzon ordered invasive test after invasive test. The trauma that that team and his 'orders' put me through is indescribable. The whole time i tried to explain to Berzon and his 'team' that i function well. I am never really in the hospital. I rarely get a cold. I could do gym class fine (except run) i could walk around amusement parks, zoos etc for hours without portable oxygen and be just fine. Berzon nor his team (for the exception of 1 doctor at the clinic) listened to me at all. No matter how much i told them i felt fine, he kept ordering the tests. My parents were pretty much at the mercy of this doctor and felt that there was nothing they could do to stop it. But they did, eventually my parents spoke up and said enough is enough. Me and my family firmly said no to the double lung transplant. I am happy to say now that i am 34 years old. I have gone through college and graduated. Walked around Disney World for 3 days in 2010. I can walk around flea markets, amusement parks, smallish zoos and not be tired. I thank my lucky stars that i was able to escape Dr Berzons demands. I will never forgive him for the emotional trauma, nightmares, flash backs that him and his team caused me.

Wow, just WOW! Did my dad just have shoulder surgery at a medical center or the Hilton hotel? VIP…read moreand 5 star service since we walked through the door and to my dad getting discharged. I must admit, my expectations were low since I saw this was apart of Lake Health system and you don't hear a lot about them. Dr. Gobezie is an angel sent from the heavens above. Such a down to earth person with a loving and giving heart. I wish all doctors were just like him. HA im dreaming in LA LA land for that. but seriously, DR. Gobezie is a role model for the ideal doctor in a perfect world. He is amazing. This is a newly built building on the corner of Chagrin and Richmond Rd. Super close to the Interstate 271 Beachwood exit. This building has only been up and running for a few months so everything is super new and beautiful! Everything is top of the line. Comfy chairs with big screen tvs and outlet stands near the seats for charging stations in the waiting area. They have a coffee shop near the registration desk when you first walk in with great coffee, light bites from Presti's bakery and oatmeal cups!. I had one of the seasonal lattes, Maple! holy yum. Seriously one of the best Ive had. I drank it so fast. Alittle expensive but it was a 20 oz for 5$+ but so good. All proceeds go to charity! again DR. Gobezie is an amazing man with an amazing heart. Staff is so wonderful! Everyone from the custodians, receptionists, nursing assistants, nurses, physical therapist, respiratory therapist, and doctors. Everyone was amazing. Upon walking in, my father and I were greeted by the receptionists, checked in quickly and my father was taken back. I had to leave for an appointment but my phone number was taken for any updates while I was gone. I dropped him off at 8:30 and I returned around 11:15. I was walked over to a tv screen on the wall which showed each patient (not by name but by a code). My father was pointed out and it showed him still in the operating room. His surgery was scheduled till 11:30. It listed the PACU, Operating room, and Post Op room and had a checkmark on each place he would be at so you know where he is at all times. About an hour later, I was directed to a conference room where Dr. Goebezie talks to you by Skype or some sort. There you can talk to him directly from the operating area. Ask any questions. He is such an easy going and knowledgeable guy. He let me know how the surgery went and what he did. About an hour after that, I was able to go up to my fathers room and see him (escorted by another wonderful receptionist). My father had to stay overnight due to medicare, but he was feeling so great, he could of left that day. He was in minimal pain. He didn't even receive a nerve block (he declined it) and didn't even take the Percocet he was prescribed, only Tylenol. He said he felt so much better than the pain he was in pre-op. His room was huge! With a big screen tv. Big bed with lots of buttons and technology. Spacious bathroom, reclining chair and a sofa that turns into a bed if I wanted to stay. On the unit there is a refreshment area which I was given permission to help myself. They had a fridge stocked with different soda drinks, juice, milk, pudding, and jello. Freezer with ice cream cups and popsicles. Also saltine crackers, graham crackers, and Loorna Doones (my dad's favorite). When my father first came to the room, they were out of graham crackers. The nursing assistant went on a mission to find more and came back with a handful of them for my father. The nurse also came back with 3 packages of Loorna Doones. My dad was in heaven to say the least. It meant the world to him and myself. A physical therapist and Respiratory therapist came in to talk to him. They were both wonderful and so informative. Other places they come in and drop off a piece of paper or the breathing spirometer and leave. Here they went in great detail and even I learned a lot while listening. The physical therapist drew a picture on the board to show us what type of operation the doctor did (an implant he created personally). Wow! The respiratory therapist went into great detail why its very important to take deep breaths to prevent pneumonia and to use the breathing spirometer frequently. In my dad's case, he used it during commercial breaks. :) His menu was amazing as well! he could order any time he wanted. There are no set meal times just when you please. I urged him to order something so he ordered a turkey sandwhich which he said was great. For dinner, he ordered the filet and said it was fantastic! I wish I got a picture of it. He was scheduled to leave the next day but I think he would of been willing to stay longer at that point. He said he ordered an omlette in the morning and that it was huge! I cant express how much I appreciate Dr. Gobezie and his staff for taking such great care of my father. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you all! Highly recommend!
