I heard nothing from him and showed up for court but he never came. I was forced to defend myself, which then made me uncomfortable since my plan for representation was ruined, and was found responsible for the charges as a result. But the worst part is not that he didn't show up, it's that he did not immediately apologize when I called him after to tell him I was disappointed. Instead he told me "this can happen from time to time" about him actually not adding my date to his calendar and having no remorse for the outcome. He did follow up later that he had explored what he could do for me after that point, but it was too late. I found him to be disrespectful and do not recommend him.

Under no circumstances did he sell out my best interests in order to broker a back-channel deal with the state (as another Yelp reviewer suggested). He took his job very seriously, always returned my phone calls, and consistently made me understand where my case stood in terms of legal proceedings. He gave all the evidence (pro and con) thorough consideration, and didn't make reckless courtroom decisions. My sense of Whitney is that, if a client's acquittal is possible, he'll fight to beat the state's charges. If acquittal isn't possible, he'll fight to get his client the best possible deal. I know two other people who were defended by Whitney in criminal court, and they also believe he does a great job. Another good thing about this attorney is that he seemed available to work with defendants of limited means.
