Dr. Feifel's genuine, caring nature during the pre/post treatment consultations made me feel seen and heard from start to finish. His background and expertise instilled a great deal of confidence in his abilities to treat my depression. Jacqueline Rios was my TMS technician. Her warm, caring nature brought the support and stability I needed throughout my entire treatment program. She lifted my spirits on difficult days, and celebrated my achievements on better days. Her presence was always treasured, and I was so thankful to have her by my side during my TMS journey. She will forever be cherished and hold a special place in my heart. Kadima's by far the most advanced deep TMS provider in San Diego County, and I can't recommend them enough. I will certainly return in the future should my symptoms come out of remission. I'm forever grateful to everyone at Kadima for welcoming me with open arms. They will certainly welcome you with open arms, too.

After many attempts to reach out to UCSD WeListen department before this happened, when at that time he was NOT filling her prescriptions on time and with incorrect dosages, they responded after an investigation that he did nothing wrong. That was 4 months ago. Now he is overprescribing a dangerous addicting controlled substance to avoid my sister.

I've been going to UC San Diego Health outpatient psychiatry clinic in La Jolla for about 7 years…read morenow. Over that time, I have both been extremely satisfied and extremely frustrated with the place. For some context, let's start by saying that the state of mental healthcare in general, in the US and globally, is not where it should be. The field is filled with incompetent hacks, untrained in and uninterested in evidence-based treatment. It is really difficult to find good treatment. It's not like finding good physical healthcare. While there definitely are significant issues with UCSD Health outpatient psychiatry, what other large medical group in San Diego is better? Kaiser? Give me a break. That place is a house of horrors and rightly gets a major fine from the state every year and has been subject to numerous large lawsuits for denying legally required care. Sharp? They basically have brief group therapy that isn't even specialized and then kick you to the curb. Scripps? They don't even offer outpatient mental healthcare, despite advertising that they meet all your medical needs under one roof. I was told my a representative at Scripps that they don't offer outpatient mental health services because they have found that their patient population doesn't need it. Seriously?!? The small group practices in the area also have bad reputations, and I have never been able to find specialized care at any. And it is so hard to find a competent specialist in private practice. Talk about a bunch of hacks who aren't trained in and aren't interested in evidence-based treatment. The vast majority of these people shouldn't even be licensed. So UCSD Health outpatient psychiatry definitely has major issues, but they're still the tastiest turd sandwich in the bag. So now about UCSD Health outpatient psych specifically. The main positive and negative of the place is that it is affiliated with a world-class research institution with an incredible academic psychiatry research department. There are incredible expert psychiatrists here who spend most of their time in research. I have had two incredible psychiatrists here, true specialists in anxiety, the very top of their field globally. They had so much more knowledge than you can find anywhere else locally, and this translated to far greater knowledge of medication, appropriate psychotherapeutic treatment, and advanced treatments in the field. These were the two best providers I've ever had, by a mile, and I've been to many over the decades. Beyond their expertise, they both were incredibly nice and caring individuals. They helped my life immeasurably. But on the other side there are people there that only care about their research and could not possibly care less about the lives of their patients. I have never felt as worthless in my life as I did after a recent visit with a new psychiatrist. You may wonder why I switched providers when I was getting such great care? Not my choice at all. The turnover here is very high. There are other significant problems. They are absolutely filled with bureaucracy. I know that this greatly frustrates their best provider-researchers, and many have stopped seeing patients for that reason. Effective treatment has been cut off with total disregard for the wellbeing of patients. There is very high turnover, which is very frustrating when you are seeing someone great and you are on a great treatment plan, and then someone else takes over and, with total disregard for your health and life, wants to dramatically change what is working. Beyond bureaucracy, one reason for the high turnover is that UCSD Health is well known for treating its employees terribly. You can look this up as there are news articles about this. The job satisfaction of their providers is at the very bottom nationally. Management and culture absolutely needs to change in the entire UCSD Health system. And it is very troubling that patients are increasingly being pushed off onto Nurse Practitioners and others below MD level for medication management. Psychotherapy here has been limited since COVID as they have transitioned to a short term treatment model. This may work for some, but patoents like myself with more serious lifelong mental health problems need ongoing treatment, so it is very disappointing that they cut that off. And they had a fantastic OCD treatment program, but it ended because the therapist left and they never restarted it because the process got so mired in bureaucracy. You really need to advocate for yourself in order to receive appropriate care here and the degree of turnover makes things very difficult. So that's UCSD Health outpatient psychiatry clinic. Sometimes it is the absolute best, and sometimes it is just plain horrible. But since the entire field is a complete mess, I have to put things in context and rate this place comparatively.

Sudden patient dismissals without adequate support, notice or medication fulfillment raise questions about prioritization of patient well-being versus profit. The company's policy of not providing management names and dropping patients without notice may contravene California law. There are also instances of physicians not attending video visits while still billing insurance. I do not recommend this company if you're concerned about your mental health. Please note: Abrupt termination without notice/referrals can be "patient abandonment." Under California law, patient abandonment occurs when a doctor terminates the relationship without written notice and without giving you enough time to find another qualified provider while you're still in need of care. This includes stopping care or medication, or leaving you without alternatives.

I found the physician to be extremely egotistic, controlling and condescending, especially at critical points in therapy. I was actually told "do you really think you are OK? by Dr. Roybal whose job in my opinion was to say "you are going to be OK I am here to ensure that." Then to charge a fortune for this type of treatment is just far beyond acceptable. I will also agree with other reviewers that the costs of the clinic are extremely expensive for the potential of treatment that may be required. 18K per month was required during my time there. The insurance billing process is a nightmare as others have stated. One definitely feels a few weeks into your treatment as if this clinic really is all about putting money in Dr. Roybal's pocket. A strange feeling of preying on the weak. Very sad. Also this is an outpatient facility. As a clinician myself, I would highly suggest that anyone going through a drug healing process would be better off finding a good therapist, following an appropriate slow taper schedule with supervision, a good massage therapist, chiropractic neurologist, acupuncturist, and seek out solid nutrition protocols with meditative exercises like yoga, tai chi, qi gong and meditation. WAY more cost effective and likely, far superior results.
