My experience with Robert Butler and this firm was beyond horrific. Not only did this attorney…read moreovercharge me to the tune of $23,000, but he also lied to me throughout the process and demonstrated complete incompetence by losing crucial personal belongings that served as evidence in my case. To make matters worse, he attempted to cross personal boundaries by trying to pursue my girlfriend at the time-- Who was also a client that he offered to represent for free so she didn't file against him(a blatant violation of professionalism and ethics). Robert Butler offered to reimburse me 5000.00 and never honored that arrangement. So I filed a grievance. When I filed a grievance with the Ohio Bar, armed with evidence to support my allegations, they chose to ignore the gravity of the situation. Adding insult to injury, this attorney used his connections, including his new wife, to manipulate the process and have my grievance thrown out. This was an appalling abuse of power and demonstrated a lack of accountability within the system. This experience was a $23,000 lesson learned the hard way. If you value integrity, professionalism, and trustworthiness in an attorney, stay far away from Robert Butler and this law firm.

I sadly had three other attorneys before him through the divorce and for this case and appeals, it was such a struggle. In this case the fourth time was a charm! Stephen is absolutely amazing! I replied back that evening, stating I had already written up a summary for both matters and that they might want to look them over before a discussion, to properly assess the matters. 3/18/25: I heard nothing. 3/19/25: I heard nothing. 3/19/25: I filled out a followup webform thinking maybe my email was marked as spam. I also followed up with a message on their answering service. 3/20/25: I received a form-letter response indicating that "based on the details I had provided" (mind you, I hadn't provided ANY yet), the firm was not interested in my case. I emailed back asking how such a determination could have been made when they had failed to respond to my question regarding the delivery of those details. I heard nothing. 3/21/25: I heard nothing. 3/24/25: I located a different "office" email address online and emailed the details of my experience, asking a supervisor to get back to me explaining how such a thing could happen (as a business owner myself, if an employee of mine were rejecting business without thoroughly assessing, I'd want to know). 3/25/25: I've still heard nothing, and don't expect to at this point... I'd like to say this was an isolated incident, but the reality is, 4 different times, via 3 different contact methods, messages were ignored, so that tends to suggests this is "business-as-usual" for them. I hope you all have better luck, but I don't get the sense these folks really care. It's a shame, because one of the attorneys came highly recommended.

He was out sick that day but still called me, so I thought I found the one! Wow, I couldn't have done worse! One of the absolutely rudest people I have ever encountered. First, the attorney is about 90 years old and he forgets what he tells you, oh he will tell you I've been doing this for 30 years, trust me. Maybe it's time to retire? Second, he can't remember what he has and hasn't done. I submitted all my required paperwork. I did have a lot of questions and all he kept telling me is not to be this kind and to trust him. After my case was completed, he told me I complained too much and if I have an issue to come to his offices and handle it like a man. Dean I am not one of your female clients that you can intimidate. During my time I have since learned that Dean Hines used his position of power to initiate and pursue an intimate relationship with a vulnerable client who was afraid to resist in early 2009. Women beware! Research this Disciplinary Counsel v. Hines. Remember when you lost your license for 6 months for this? I really let this man represent me? Of course, everyone makes mistakes but really, come on that is one of the first things you were taught in the 1940's! His wife (his paralegal) had no problems at all with her, maybe it's because she's not 90 years old! (Maybe she was an old client as well?) If you want to be treated like a child, then I surely recommend him as he would be a great great grandpa to someone. About the only thing that came fast was the bill. They surely make sure you get that! If you want an ambulance chaser with a law degree or someone that acts inappropriate with the females, go to Dean Hines!
