Dave's Hot Chicken started in 2017 with $900 in a parking lot in California. It has grown to nearly 300 restaurants globally. The location near my house opened a couple of months ago. Orders are placed at the counter and prepared fresh, so there is a little bit of a wait even when they aren't busy. The menu is pretty simple, led by their famous chicken tenders, which can be served alone or as a slider sandwich. They also have chicken bites, fries, mac & cheese, and kale slaw to round out the menu. All chicken can be served with no spice, lite mild, mild, medium, hot, extra hot, or "reaper," which includes a disclaimer for how hot it truly is. For my dinner, I ordered Dave's #3 so that I could sample a variety of the offerings ($13.49). This included a tender served on sliced bread with pickles and a slider served on a potato bun with kale slaw, pickles, and Dave's sauce. Fries are also included in the meal deal. This was a lot of food! I think next time I might just get the slider meal, as each tender is actually really thick and filling. I ordered my chicken with hot sauce, and it was pretty dang hot! I tried the tender alone, but found myself dipping it in the side of Dave's sauce to cool it off some. The slider didn't feel as hot since it had slaw, pickles, and Dave's sauce already drizzled on it. I might try the medium heat level next time, or just stick with the slider and the hot sauce.

I was really impressed at how this popular restaurant lived up to the hype. The chicken truly was breaded, seasoned, and fried to order, and that makes it worth the wait that you will have. Even if you don't like "hot" chicken, they have a version with no spice. My other favorites were the mac & cheese and the crinkle fries which were seasoned really well. I really wanted to try one of the milkshakes, but the machine wasn't working unfortunately.

We decided to try Dave's Hot Chicken after the district manager of Noodles & Company told us he loved Dave's Hot Chicken when it was in that East Hollywood, California parking lot and ate there all the time. Unfortunately, we didn't have the same opinion when it came the one in Oakley, Ohio. The first thing I noticed was how loud the music was. I instantly wanted to walk right back out the door, but we wanted to try the food, so I stayed. HELLO, PEOPLE! It's a fast-casual restaurant, not a nightclub. If the music is that loud there better be a disco ball on the ceiling or a stage along the wall. It was so loud that I had to go ask them to turn the music down. We couldn't even have a normal conversation while we were waiting on our food. Even after they turned the volume down it was still a bit too loud for my liking. The food should be the focal point of a restaurant. Not the background music. So, that brings us to the food. The chicken tenders were huge. I checked their website. They certainly don't claim to use GMO- Free chickens, so they must use GMO chickens that weigh about 15 pounds. The chicken tender breading had a nice crunch and flavor, but the dry rub felt "gritty". I was not a fan of that, but the biggest problem was the tenders were cold. I don't mean room temperature. They were cold. I ordered the mac & cheese as my side item, but I had to ask the young woman at the counter if I could get the mac & cheese since the menu says all the entrees come with fries. So, if you try this restaurant just know you can substitute the fries if you'd like. The mac & cheese was very good. It was cheesy and hot with a great texture and flavor. The tenders also came with a piece, or 2 of plain, sliced sandwich bread. I don't remember which and I'm not sure why. There was no butter, jam, or honey in sight. It wouldn't be to make a sandwich. If I wanted a sandwich I would have ordered a sandwich. It just made me think the bread was there to soak up the oil from the chicken, which did not sound appetizing in the slightest. The saucy bites that my husband ordered were just that, bite size, but they were warm and the spicy buffalo sauce was not too spicy and had a good flavor. The fries were good. They were hot and crisp. Although, I do not like the seasoning they put on them, but to be fair, aside from a bit of salt, I haven't found a fry seasoning that I do like. My husband on the hand did like their seasoning. Neither one of us liked their signature sauce. Not one bit. We tasted it, but didn't eat it, It looked and tasted like a version of Big Mac sauce that went terribly wrong. We were given extra sauce packets that went didn't ask for. So, we left them on the table. It just seemed like a big waste since people could ask for extra sauce if they want it. The service was definitely the best part. The young lady at the counter was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the menu, and the gentleman who I asked to turn the music down did so without hesitation. He seemed happy to accommodate me. He probably wished more people would make the same request. I wish this restaurant the very best, but I think they will have a difficult time since they have Wings and Rings, Cane's, and Wing Stop as neighbors.

Good flavor. Good service. Food came out fast and hot, pun intended. The "hot" was too hot for my husband. The medium was just right. I would return.

Dave's Hot Chicken just opened up in Cincinnati, so of course we had to give it a shot. I'd rate it a solid 3/5. Here's why: The first time we tried Dave's in Florida, the chicken was dried out and definitely not it. Coming into the Cincy location, things were better--food was hot, fresh, and the fries were on point. The chicken pieces are huge, which honestly threw me off a little (kind of gives GMO vibes). The seasoning and pickles? Loved those. They add a nice kick and crunch. But the sauce... not a fan. It comes in a mayo-based packet that doesn't really do it for me, especially since it's their "signature sauce." My wife's order also came out a little too heavy-handed with the spice, so consistency could be better. The place itself is bright, loud, and busy--exactly what you'd expect from a fast-casual spot that's been hyped for years. The marketing had me excited, but overall, it just didn't live up to it for me. Good chicken, good fries, cool vibe--but not my favorite chicken spot in town.

Besides the chicken though and the sliders with the pickles and slaw that just made it so amazing, the fries were also spectacular!

The atmosphere had a relaxed elegance without feeling fancy, and after coming straight from a loud reception, the calm setting with gentle music was exactly what we needed. My colleague and I both ordered the chicken kebab dinner, and it was exceptional. The food was flavorful and tasty, the chicken was moist and deliciously seasoned, and the steamed vegetables were cooked perfectly without being mushy. We also enjoyed the Turkish tea after dinner, which was recommended to help with digestion. It was a strong black tea served in the cutest little glass cup with a handle, and we finished every drop. The staff was attentive, kind, and welcoming without being intrusive. Overall, it was a very relaxing and enjoyable dining experience, and I'd gladly return.

This year it was a combo of Valentine's Day and Mardi Gras -- so as you strolled through the Findlay Market complex, you could sample either savory Cajun-inspired dishes, or dessert-themed dishes. You had 2 choices for tickets, either 8 tickets or (I believe) 20 tickets for a higher price. I went with the maximum amount this time, so that I could just impulsively select the samples in front of me without having to ration out my choices. And strongly recommend this method -- it's a great way to throw yourself into the event and to donate to a great organization. And the gourmet made-from-scratch delicacies didn't disappoint. My top fives favorites were: the "Velvety Smooth Beef Burgundy" from Eckerlin meats -- a flavorful stew with fork-tender beef chunks in it, the "Mini Elote" street corn cob (actually half a cob, thus the "mini" part of the name), with a flavorful authentic sauce on top, the "Hogs & Kisses Baby Back Ribs" from Neil Luken Meats -- a huge chunk of ribs (he said he gave me a larger piece than usual to compensate for giving me the butt end of the rack, which I heartily appreciated), the Gumbo from Barlion's Seafood & Poultry, as the broth was amazing, and I loved the ample chunks of Andouille sausage popping up in the stew, and the "Muffaletta Sandwich Bites" from Harmony Plant Fare. Other favorites of mine were the "Bourbon Street Chicken with White Rice" from Artichoke (they had run out of the dish so we had to wait 5-10 minutes until they could make more -- it was worth the wait, as the chicken was plump and flavorful), the "Cocoa Smoothie topped with Strawberry" from the Banasun Smoothie Bar," which was refreshing and perfectly spiced, and the "chocolate Covered Bacon" from Ruby's Chocolates, which had caramel mixed into the chocolate and bacon (and, BTW, the bacon was from Eckerlin Meats, one of their neighbors). All of this, combined with great weather, a band playing jazz, great service, and Findlay Market's wonderful "street fair" atmosphere. Who could ask for more?

This place was better than most of the Markets that I've been to in recent memory! Some of them are bigger but this one is a medium-sized Market to say the least. They have great produce in one section by the parking. Great variety of stores. I do like the outdoor tables as well. The cons I will say about the Findlay Market are the parking. You are expected to download an app and pay for parking that way instead of just getting a QR code that will redirect you and put in your payment information and the other con is once you leave the Farmers Market there really isn't much to really see or do since it's kind of blighted from a 1 block radius of leaving the market
