We spent our one night in Datça at Villa Asina. It was a first-class treat. We were the only guests during the off-season, so we could choose any room in the house. We picked the Knidos Room, which has a deep deck overlooking the sea and Simi Island. The room was bright, cozy, and modern, with an excellent shower. Breakfast the next morning was plentiful and delicious. Best of all, though, was the service: The manager, an architect who designed a piece of the complex, was a beacon of warmth and full of suggestions about restaurants, side trips, and the Saturday market. The house Golden Retriever, Zeytin, was a fine one-dog welcoming committee. Guests should note that Villa Asina is not in the center of town, so it's most appropriate for people with cars. But you should rent a car, because there's so much to do in this area (like visiting the ruins at Knidos) for which driving is essential. read more
